Carols of Christmas Handmade Card

Carols of Christmas Today I am sharing a card that one of my team members made using the new Carols of Christmas stamp set which will be available in August.  How can it almost be August??

Perfect timing for my Christmas in July Class this Friday!  I love being part of a Stamping Team.  My group, Stamping New England gets together once a month to design projects for upcoming classes.  I can’t believe the variety of ideas that two different people can design using the same cardstock and stamp set.

The Carols of Christmas stamp set is beautiful and I can already envision so many beautiful cards with it.

Carols of Christmas stamp setAnd what really makes this set special is the thinlits that are also available.  They are beautiful!
Carols of Christmas thinlits

Here are the details on this card:
The card base is made with a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Dapper Denim cardstock scored at 4 1/4″.  The first layer is a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″.  The outline thinlit was used around the edge of this piece of cardstock.  (You will need to run this piece of cardstock thru the Big Shot twice to outline the whole layer).  I love the detailed cuttings on this thinlit..  I see some great frames for Family Christmas pictures!  Margaret used scraps of Gold Foil and Gold Glimmer paper behind the detailed cutouts along the edge of the frame.

The next layer is the gold embossed piece of Dapper Denim Designer paper that is part of the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Paper.  This piece is cut to 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″. Next is a set of pine trees cut using the pine tree thinlit with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper.

Last is a piece of Whisper white cardstock stamped with “Peace on Earth” and Versamark ink and embossed with Gold Embossing powder.  This sentiment is cut out with the Layering Ovals framelits.

These are the products used for this project.  The Carols of Christmas stamp set will be available to order on
August 1st (146037).

Use one Sketch to make two different Cards

use one sketch to make two different cardsToday I am sharing two cards that were made from the same stamp set and Designer paper using one sketch to make two different cards.

My Stamping friend Jeannie and I were working on ideas for a Christmas in July class using the new Stampin’ Up!  Be Merry Designer Series Paper and the Santa’s Sleigh stamp set.

We picked a random sketch from a stack of MojoMonday sketches that I keep around for inspiration.  And as you can see our two cards are very different!

Need inspiration??  I love sketches!  I chose a sketch that has an element that matches the stamp set that I want to use.  In this case Santa’s Sleigh.  Then we selected the Be Merry Designer paper which coordinates with Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green cardstocks and inks.  Did you know that Stampin’ Up! prints the colors for each designer paper on the back of the package??  I love that.  So when I am designing using a specific paper, I just pull a couple of pieces of each color of cardstock and pick out those inks.   Then it is time to design!

So the Reindeer card is made with a Cherry Cobbler Base, a layer of Whisper White and then a layer of the cute little reindeer pattern from the  Be Merry designer series paper.

The second card uses Garden Green cardstock as the base with a layer of Chocolate Chip cardstock and the small triangle pattern in Garden Green that looks like trees.  I have found that if you are working with green shades, brown can be a really good color to use as a layer to set off the pattern of the designer series paper.  For this card, the design is flipped to be landscape to accommodate  the sleigh and the tree.  The Sleigh is cut from Red Glimmer paper to add a little bling to the card.  After all, what is a card without bling?

Want to make these cards?  Here are the supplies!

Happy 4th of July!

HapHappy 4th of July cardpy 4th of July!  This is one of my favorite patriotic cards that my friend Margaret Galvez on the Stamping New England design team has created. Margaret always surprises with a different twist on a theme!  This card was actually designed two years ago but is so appropriate for the 4th!

This card is made with Real Red Cardsock for the card base.  A layer of Night of Navy cardstock with a layer of Newsprint Designer paper.  Small pieces of real red ribbon are layered on the corners to highlight the real red color of the card.

The flag is made from a piece of Whi
sper White cardstock.  The red stripes of our Flag are stamped with Real Red ink and the Work of Art stamp set.  The Stars are punched using the Star border punch from a scrap of Night of Navy cardstock.  The flag is attached to the card front with dimensionals to give it a little pop!

Have a happy and safe 4th of July!
