Christmas in July – Under the Mistletoe Card

For the past few days, I have been playing with the new Under the Mistletoe Designer paper from the new  Stampin’
Under the Mistletoe CardUp! catalog.   I have designed a few Christmas cards with this paper using a new stamp set; Color Your Season –  that Stampin’ Up is releasing on August 1st and a couple of the Holiday sets that are in the current catalog.

Here are the details on this card made with the upcoming Color Your season stamp set.

The Color Your Season stamp set has an image for each of the Four Seasons and some pretty thinlits that have a stitched edge.  I can’t wait to show off this stamp set and let you play with it.  It will be available for order on August 1st!

Here are the details on this card:

The card base is Old Olive cardstock cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″.  Next is a layer of Real Red cardstock cut to 5 1/8″ x 3  7/8″.  Then a piece of the Under the Mistletoe DSP cut to 5″ x 3 3/4″.  I then used the new layering thinlits with the stitched edge to cut a mat from Old Olive Cardstock and from Whisper White cardstock.  I stamped “Merry Christmas” in red.

The Color Your Season stamp set has the Christmas sentiment – Merry Christmas, a Christmas Bell and a swag of Mistletoe.  I stamped the Mistletoe swag with Black ink and colored the mistletoe with my Stampin’ Blends markers.  I then cut out the mistletoe swag and added it above the sentiment in the center of the card.  This set also has a pretty ribbon die.  I added a ribbon cut from Silver foil below the sentiment.

Next Wednesday is July 25th – so six months from Christmas so I am holding my Christmas in July class on Wednesday the 25th featuring the new Under the Mistletoe DSP and the upcoming  Color Your Season stamp set which will be available on August 1st.  I will also have some cards made with other Christmas Sets that have carried forward such as Star of Light,Hearts Come Home, and Stylish Christmas stamp sets.

Stay tuned – I will be offering an online class using the
Under the Mistletoe DSP soon!

Happy Stamping!

Blast from the Past handmade Graduation Card

Today I am sharing a Handmade Graduation Card that I designed for my niece Hillary’handmade Graduation Cards graduation from Merrimack College!  What a huge milestone!  This is one of my favorite card designs – a Z Fold Card.  I love cards that move and Z Fold Cards are one of my favorite types of cards to design!

The colors for this card are inspired by Hillary’s love of Lily Pulitzer clothes and colors.  Pink and Green colors happen to be one my favorite colors combinations too!   So this card is designed around the new Granny Apple Green cardstock and of course my favorite pink – Flirty Flamingo cardstock wiht a little Coastal Cabana thrown in for a blue shade.  Aren’t you glad that Flirty Flamingo became a permanent color and that Coastal Cabana is back!

I used the Brights Designer paper stacks for the back ground paper.  Bringing back the Designer paper stacks in the color families was a great decision by Stmapin’ Up!  I love having a designer paper that coordinates with every color!
Brights Designer Series Paper Stack
Here are the details on this card:
The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Flirty Flamingo Cardstock scored at 5 1/2″ and 2 3/4″.  This is folded into a Z shape.  The first 2 layers are  two 2 5/8″ x 5 3/8″ pieces of Granny Apple Green DSP.   The back panel is a 5 3/8″ square of Coastal Cabana DSP.

The arm of the Z Fold card is a 1 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock scored at 5 1/2″ and 2 3/8″.  Each panel of the arm is layered with a piece of Flirty Flamingo DSP.   The numbers 2018 are cut using the Large Number framelits dies (which have now retired unfrotunately) from the Granny Apple Green and Flirty Flamingo cardstock.   The key to the Z Fold card is to attach the arm folded in the opposite direction from the card.

The banner and stars are cut using the Birthday Bash framelits (also retired).  I do love these framelits and the star explosion that the die creates!.

The inspiration for the card design was a graduation card that I designed last year for my daughter Emily.  I have to admit that her card was a little more elaborate with a lot more bling.  This card was designed around Sacred Heart University colors which is where my daughter graduated from.  This card used Crushed Curry Cardstock and Cherry Cobbler Cardstock.

This is a great example of how you can take a favorite card that you designed before and change it to use for another occasion!

Happy 4th of July!!

Happy 4th of July!!

These are a couple of summer picnic  cards that my team designed a couple of years ago for summer events!

This shows that you can take the colors red, white and blue and make something patriotic!

Even though these stamp sets and papers are retired, you can create something similar with products that we have available today!

I hope that you enjoy your day!

I am going on a exploration of the Isle of Shoals off the coast of NH & Maine for the 4th!

Enjoy your day!
