Candy Cane Lane Card

Today I have a handmade Christmas card that is made using Stampin’ Up!’s Candy Cane Lane Designer paper.  This card layout is inspired by this week’s Mojo Monday card sketch!
gingerbread-house-w
Here are the details on this card:
Card Base:  Whisper white cardstock cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″.  Next is a layer of Real Red Cardstock cut to 5 1/4″ x 4″ and then a layer of Candy Cane Lane Designer paper cut to 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″.  Snip the top left corner of the designer paper to add contrast to the card.

Next is a scalloped circle cut using the Layered Circle Framelits with another piece of the Candy Cane Lane Designer paper.

The main element of this card is a piece of whisper white cardstock cut to 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ layered onto a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock but to 2 5/8″ x 3 5/8″.

The Gingerbread house is actually not stamped but is cut from the Candy Cane Lane Designer paper.  I used stampin’ dimensionals to raise the cut out house.  Last I stamped the message from the Tin of Tags Stamp set with Real Red ink.

This is a great Christmas Greeting stamp set that has been designed to be part of a Project Kit.  But – you can just order the set which I did since I love this set for Greetings on my Holiday cards.

Another Star of Light Christmas Card

I am really loving the new Star of Light Stamp set and thinlits from the new Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog.  And the funny part is that this is not a set that I immediately ordered when I saw this catalog.  pink-star-of-light-2wI borrowed the set from a friend and of course have now ordered it.  Why can’t I have everything?  Oh Yeah – I don’t have enough room to store everything!  LOL

So the details on this card.  This card is stunning but a fairly quick and simple card.  The card base is a 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Soft Sky Cardstock scored at 4 1/4″.  The next layer is a 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of the Fancy Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The swirl on the background is stamped with Blushing Bride ink and the small stars have been stamped with Soft Sky ink.  Each side of the DSP is layered with a piece of Silver Glitter ribbon from the Holiday catalog.

Next I cut a star using the Detailed Starlight Thinlits from Blushing Bride Glimmer paper.  Note:  the best way to cut this particular star is to cut the center pattern first and then line up the star outline around the detail design!  I used 1/2″ pieces of the new Foam Adhesive Strips to on the back of the star so that it pops from the card!

Then the bling:  I used a couple of the Fancy Frost Sequins and Rhinestone Jewels to add some detail to the card.

Here are the supplies that were used for this card:

Star of Light Handmade Card

Today I am sharing a handmade Christmas card that I made using the Stampin’ Up! Star of Light Stamp set and coordinating thinlits.  star-of-light-2wThis card was inspired by the week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge.

So the details on this card:

The card base is a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″.  Next is a layer of Soft Sky cardstock cut to 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″.

The panel on the right is a 3 1/8″ x 3 3/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock layered on a piece of Dazzling Details Glimmer paper.

The background of this panel is a Watercolor technique on Whisper White cardstock using re-inkers and an aqua painter. Place 2 drops of Island Indigo re-inker and about 10 drops of water in the top of star-of-light2-cua button container.  Stir it up with an aqua painter and brush across the cardstock.  NOTE:  practice on a scrap of white paper first to get the level of shading that you want.  Then I repeated the process with soft sky re-inker.  Then set this piece aside to dry.

The Panel on the left is a  1 1/2″ piece of  Fancy Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper which has been lightly brayered with Soft Sky ink.  This is also layered onto a piece of Dazzling Details Glimmer paper.  I added a piece of Blushing Bride and Silver Glitter ribbon.

the Snowflakes are cut from Dazzling Details Glimmer paper and Blushing Bride Glimmer paper cut with the detailed Starlitght thinlits dies.  These are layered on my watercolored panel that has been stamped with Blushing Bride  using the swirl stamp.  The small star is a stamped with versamark and embossed with Silver Embossing powder on a scrap of whisper white.

It is hard to tell, but I used the Wink of Stella Clear Brush to add dazzle to the blushing bride swirl.  The snowflakes are attached with glue dots.  and of course the center of the snowflakes have been embellished with Rhinestone Jewels.

So which set of dies is your favorite from the New Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog?  I am really loving this Detailed Santa Thinlits die and the quick and simple but striking cards that you can make with this die!

santa_edited-1This card is a 4 1/4″ square with a base cut from Whisper White card stock.  The second layer is a 4×4″ piece of Red Foil and the top layer is a 3 3/4″ square of Whisper White cardstock cut with the Detailed Santa Thinlits.

Very stunning!

Hang Your Stocking Christmas Card

Today I am sharing a Christmas Card that I made with the Stampin’ Up! stamp set Hang Your Stocking from the new Holiday catalog!  hang your stocking cardI have to say that I love this catalog and so many of the sets within it that I had a really hard time deciding what to buy this fall!

Today’s card is inspired by this week’s Global Design Team challenge which is a case the designer.   I choose to use the same layout that Teneale used.
challenge-case-teneale-williams

Here are the details for this card:

Cardstock base:  Real Red CS cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
The next layer is Crumb Cake cut to 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″.  I choose Crumb Cake to go with the pattern on the Warmth & Cheer Designer Paper that I choose.  I used a 2″ x 3 7/8″ piece of the plaid pattern with a 2 1/4″ x 3 7/8″ piece of Whisper white CS embossed with the Cable Knit embossing folder.  NOTE:  This folder is very thick to give a detailed impression.  So you need to adjust your platform accordingly.  I found that I only needed one plate with this embossing folder.

These two pieces were layered onto the Crumb Cake layer and I added a piece of Candy Cane Lane Washi Tape to cover the seams between the two layers.

Onto the Stamping:  The Stockings are stamped with Garden Green ink and Real Red ink and then cut out using the coordinating thinlits.  “Merry Christmas” is also stamped with Garden Green ink and custockings-left-wt using the Layering Ovals Framelits and layered onto a scrap of Garden Green cardstock also cut using the Oval framelits.  The stockings were layered and attached with glue dots.  The “Merry Chistmas” is attached with stampin’ dimensionals.  Last but not least is a piece of Whisper White Thick Basker’s Twine.

Here is the card with the reverse layout and the supplies to make this card.

Perfect Pines Card and Weekly Specials

DSCN1567w
Today I have a card to share that I made with the Stampin’ Up! Peaceful Pines stamp set and matching Perfect Pines thinlits.  I used this card last week as inspiration for my Design your own Card Night.   So here are the details on this card:

The card base is made from Crumb Cake Cardstock with a layer of Very Vanilla cardstock.  The designer paper is the Merry Moments Designer paper from the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.  The Cherry Cobbler designer paper is layered with a piece of Gold Foil and the plaid designer paper is layered with a piece of Red Foil.  I do love the way that the layers of foil offset the designer paper!

The pine trees are stamped with Always Artichoke ink and cut out with the thinlits.  The trees are layered onto a circle of Very Vanilla Cardstock which is layered onto a circle of Gold Foil.  The message “Tis the Season” is also stamped with Always Artichoke ink and layered onto a scallop punched with the 3/4″ scallop circle punch.  And of course you cannot forget the bling!  I used gold sequins for the tops of the Christmas trees. Here is a list of the supplies used to make this card.

Flurry of Wishes Holiday Card

Flurry of Wishes card
Today I have another Flurry of Wishes Holiday card to share with you  from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog.  Can you tell that I like snowflakes with blue and silver colors?flurries1-cu2

This is another card that I made using the resist technique with the snowflakes on Whisper White cardstock.  I have recorded a video that I will be posting soon for these cards with the resist technique.

Onto the details for this card:
The snowflakes from the Flurry of Wishes stamp set are stamped with white ink on a piece of whisper white card stock that is cut to 5″ x 3 3/4″ and then embossed with Irredescent Ice embossing powder which really gives the card a lot of sparkle!  Next I rolled a brayer with Soft Sky ink over the piece several times.  I then used the brayer with a layer of pool party ink once.  To get the details of the snowflakes to pop – I used a sponge dauber with a lflurries1-insideittle pool party ink over the snowflakes.

The card base is an 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Pool Party card stock cut in half and scored at 4 1/4″.  I then used a layer of Dazzling Diamonds glitter paper since you can never have too much bling on a card!

Can you ever have too many embellishments on a card?I added Rhinestone jewels to the center of the snowflakes and one of the Winter Wonderland Embellishments on the bottom snowflake.  The Silver Snowflake in the center is stamped with Silver ink and embossed with Silver Embossing powder on a piece of card stock vellum.  The center of this snowflake is one of the Iced Rhinestone Embellishments.

Last but not least I stamped the large snowflake with Soft Sky ink and the sentiment from the Flurry of Wishes stamp set in Pool Party ink.  I added a piece of white glitter ribbon to the bottom  of the piece of whisper white card stock.

Did I add too much bling to this card?

Handmade Christmas Card with Wonderous Wreath

Today’s card is made with the Stampin’ Up! Wonderous Wreath Stamp set with the Trim the Tree Designer paper stack.

100_0119w
The details on this Card:

The Wreath is stamped on Whisper White cardstock.   This is a three part stamp set which means that you can add color to the image without having to color the stamp with markers.  The image is divided into three parts;  2 wreaths with leaves that line up and allow you to use shades of color to create a wreath with depth.

The fullest part of the wreath is stamped with pear pizazz (the lighter green color) and the highlighted leaves are stamped with garden green which is a shade darker.

What I love about this particular two part stamp set is the little tail on the bottom of the actual stamp. It makes this 3 part stamp set so much easier to line up!!  So to line up the stamps – make sure that you put your stamps on the blocks in the same direction with the tail pointing in the same direction. It makes the layers much easier to line up.  Stamp the third layer, the berries, with real red ink over the wreath.

Then cut out the wreath with the matching framelits..  The framelits also have the little tail to assist in lining everything up when cutting!  I love it!!

Of course I had to add a little bling to my card.  I used Red Dazzling Details to highlight the berries on the wreath.  I added “Joy” from the wonderous wreath framelits set cut from Red Glimmer paper.

This card was inspired by this week’s Mojo Monday Challenge.

Like these cards?  We are in the middle of the 12 Weeks of Christmas where I send out a Holiday idea each Wednesday to people on my mailing list.  It’s not too late to signup for my mailing list to receive the remaining Christmas Ideas each Wednesday from now to Christmas.

Happy Stamping,

3D Christmas Tree

This 3D Christmas Tree made with Stampin’ Up!’s designer paper and Dazzling Details glitter is absolutely beautiful in person.  I have had so many compliments on this tree over the past two years since my friend Karyn created it!

XmasTreeCollage-e

The Story behind this Tree.  2 years ago the Simply Scored Scoring Tool came out and my friend Karyn immediately purchased one.  And she went to town.  The next week, when I saw her, she had created this beautiful tree!  Then last year – Stampin’ Up! introduced the Rosette Die for the Big Shot.  The die made this project much easier and quicker!!

So this year – after many requests I am offering the directions for this 3D Tree with full detailed directions and a technique video.

There is a small and large version of the tree.  It is made by cutting strips of designer paper and using the Rosette Sizzix die to score the strips.  You then accordion fold the strips and make lollies for the layers of the tree.

I am also offering this Tree in Kit form with a   full set of directions with pre-cut and scored designer paper with a bottle of dazzling details for embellishment.  Everything has been pre-cut and scored for you so all you need is a glue gun to assemble the tree.

Option 1 – Full Instructions with Technique Video

Option 2 – Pre-cut Designer paper with Instructions and Video

Pre-cut 3D Tree
Colors
There are a couple of options for designer papers…  This is what I have prepped: Winter Frost – Blue/Silver blue-silver               Victorian – Red/Green victorian-red-green         Red/Green red-green

Enjoy!

These trees are a lot of fun to make!
