Last Chance for…..

The month of May is winding down and some of the Stampin’ Up! retiring items are running low.  So don’t miss out!  I thought that over the next couple of days I will profile stamp sets and papers that are retiring.

Today I have chosen the Brithday Fiesta Bundle (142268) to showcase.  I love the festive spirit of this stamp set and designer papers!  I recently used the Birthday Fiesta stamp set and Festive Birthday Designer Series paper to design a class for Cinco de Mayo!  It was a huge success!

NOTE:  These are not my original cards but ideas that I found on Pinterest and CASEd (Copy and Share Everything) for this stamp set.

These are a couple of the cards that I designed with this set!  This card with the Cactus is sooo cute.  The hats and guitars and other accessories are cut out of the Birthday Fiesta Designer series paper.  And of course I used dimensionals to make the accessories pop!

The background on this second card is made by stamping the banner with stripes of multiple colors.
I will miss the Birthday Fiesta stamp set.  This set would be great to make party invitations, birthday cards or thank you notes!

So the Stampin’ Up! inventory report is saying low inventory for this bundle.  So don’t miss out!

Delightful Daisy Card

Daisy DelightToday I am sharing a Delightful Daisy card made with the new Delightful Daisy Designer Series paper in the upcoming June Catalog.  I absolutely love this paper!!  It has so many beautiful patterns in it and coordinates so well with the Daisy Delight Stamp Set.

Here are the details of this card!  The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Night of Navy cardstock.  Next is a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ layer of Old Olive cardstock and two coordinating pieces of the Delightful Daisy Designer paper each cut to 3 3/4″ x 2″. These overlap and are adhered to the Old Olive card stock layer.  Then a 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ strip of night of navy cardstock to cover the seam between the two pieces of paper.  This is covered with a piece of the new Daffodil Delight double stitched ribbon.

The daisy is stamped with Daffodil Delight ink and punched out with the corresponding daisy punch. Sneak Peak – Stampin’ Up! In Colors

Friday I had a little fun in Marilyn’s Creative Playground with the new Stampin’ Up! In-colors!  A few of my team members came over and we played with some of the new stamp sets and papers on Friday!

Here I am sharing a sneak peak of the new Stampin’ Up! In-colors that will be available with the new Stampin’ Up! catalog in June!  I am so excited!  I love these new colors and they look so nice with the existing in-colors!

So the new In-colors are from left to right:

Berry Burst, Lemon Lime twist, Tranquil Tide, Fresh Fig and layering down is a card made with Powder Pink.

I highlighted these colors using the new Designer Series paper made with these in-colors.  This designer paper was made using each of the 5 colors.  The new In-color Designer paper stack has 4 design patterns for each color.  If this pattern looks familiar it is because it was in this year’s catalog in a Night of Navy color which I affectionately called the Delft Paper since it had the look of Delft pottery!

The messages on the cards are stamped with the corresponding color and the Layering Love stamp set.  The messages are cutout with the Layering Square, ovals and circles framelits.  If you are an avid paper crafter like me, you need these framelits in your tool kit!  They are perfect for cutting squares, circles and ovals out of cardstock or for pictures in your scrapbooks!

What I like best about these colors is they are very bold and vibrant but pair nicely with the other in-colors!  Of course that is one of the advantages of using Stampin’ Up! products.  All the colors coordinate!

Happy Stamping!

Carousel Birthday All Occasion card

Today I am sharing a card that I made with the Carousel Birthday stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalog.  I love the Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series paper stack.  The paper has a very shabby chic look with a combination of great colors!  There is a Calypso Coral hue and a blue – Bermuda Bay hue.

This is my “stepped up” card with lots of detail.  I was looking for some cards to make for swaps at Stampin’ Up! OnStage event in Richmond.  I also wanted to make a card with more detail to keep for me and use for a future class.

Here are the two color combinations.

Here are the details of this card:

The card base is So Saffron cardstock cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″.  Next is a layer of Pool Party cardstock that I have embossed with the Boho Chic embossing folder.  The center piece is a 4″ x 3″ piece of the Cupcakes & Carousels designer paper with a layer of Bermuda Bay cardstock that is 4 1/8″ x 3 1/8″.

The Carousel horse is stamped with Chocolate Chip ink and colored with the Watercolor pencils and a blender pen.  These are stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock.  The Circle and Scalloped circle are cut out using the layering Circles Framelits.  The Baker’s Twine is part of the Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishments kit.   For the detailed card, I stamped the horse a second time and layered it on the first horse to make the layer pop.  I added a touch of wink of Stella to the Bermuda Bay areas of the horse’s saddle which you can see in the close up.
The second card is made with the coordinating Calypso Coral color hue.  The card base is Very Vanilla cardstock.  The first layer is a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Peekaboo Peach cardstock embossed with the Boho Chic Embossing Folder.  I used the small Pearl Jewels to accent the details of the saddle.

So which color combination do you like better?

Can’t wait to see what i get back for swap cards tomorrow!

Happy Stamping!

Delicate Details and Sale-a-bration

Today I am sharing a card that I madDelicate Details and Avant Gardene with my Stamp Club in February with the Stampin’ Up! Delicate Details Stamp set.  This stamp set is from the Sale-a-bration catalog which ends tomorrow on Friday!  So if you want this set – time is winding down!

The Delicate Details stamp set is perfect for making very feminine, lacey cards.  Perfect for a wedding or shower card!

With this card, I also chose to use a couple of the in-colors.  I like the combination of these colors and the soft look.

The background colors are Dapper Denim and Mint Macaron which are stamped alternately with 3 of the stamps from the Delicate Details stamp set.  The Flower is from the Avant Garden stamp set.  I used the Dapper Denim and Cucumber Crush markers to color the image on the floral stamp.  This is stamped on an oval of whisper white cardstock and layered on a scalloped oval of dapper denim.  These ovals are cut using the Layering Ovals Thinlits.

Finally a piece of Dapper Denim ribbon is used to finish off this project.

So don’t miss out!  Tomorrow is the last day to order from the Sale-a-bration catalog!  i love to share the hostess benefits with my customers.  If your order is under $150 then use the hostess code US9TNKY4 and I will send you a 6×6 sampler of the Falling in Love Designer Paper.  Of course if your order is over $150 then take the hostess benefits for yourself!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you liked my card made with the Delicate Details stamp set!

How to CASE a card

Beautiful You with Pop of PinkToday I am going to share with you my strategy on how to CASE a card.   So a couple of weeks ago, one of my downlines and I challenged each other to make a card with the Stampin’ Up! Beautiful You stamp set and the Pop of Pink Designer Series paper.  This is the card that Jeanne made.

The dimensions on this card are:

1.  Card base:  Basic Black card stock cut to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″

2.  Next Layer:  Melon Mambo card stock cut to 4 7/8″ x 3 5/8″ layered with a piece of 4 3/4″ x 3 1/2″ piece of Whisper White card stock.

3.  Top Layer:  Melon Mambo card stock but to 3 5/8″ x 2 5/8″ layered with a piece of Whisper White cut to 3 1/2″ x 2 1/2″.

The Lady is stamped with Basic Black Archival ink on the Whisper White and again on the Pop of Pink DSP with the polka dot design.  You cut out just inside the lines of the dress on the Designer paper and attach that to your card.  The hat is stamped  on a scrap of Melon Mambo card stock, cut out and layered onto the card.  Then “Celebrate…” is stamped on the bottom.  This layer is attached with dimensionals on an angle to the card.
Beautiful You with Pop of pink
Here is my version of the card.

I used Basic Gray card stock for my card base.  Then I layered a piece of the Herringbone striped paper from the Pop of Pink Designer paper pack.  This layer is cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″.

Next is a piece of Melon Mambo card stock and a layer of the white and triangle design Pop of Pink DSP.

Last I stamped the lady on the small polka dot pattern of the DSP and the hat on a scrap of Melon Mambo cardstock.

NOTE:  Stampin’ Up!’s paper snips are a must for making this card with all the fine detailed cutting.

This technique is called Paper piecing since you are cutting the images out and piecing them together.

And here is a 3rd card that one of my customers made after seeing these two cards:

Beautiful You with Pop of Pink

She also used the Basic Gray cardstock and the Herringbone pattern for her card base.

She changed the second layer to a piece of Whisper White since she chose a very strong Melon Mambo patterned diagonal Stripped paper for her 2nd layer.

The third layer is a piece of Basic Black cardstock which I think makes the herringbone pattern stand out a little more.  She stamped her message on a separate piece of Whisper White cardstock.  She cut the message out with the small oval framelit and then cut a layer out of Melon Mambo with the Scalloped oval framelit.  She used a dimensional so the message pops!

More Z Fold Cards

Dragonfly Z Fold CardToday I am posting a video that I made showing how to make a Z Fold Card.  These cards have been really popular lately and can be made with virtually any stamp set.  Here are 3 examples!

This top example is a card that is made using the Dragaonfly Dreams stamp set (designed by one of my customers).  It uses the Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper combined with a piece of the Falling in Love Designer Series Paper, both from the current Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalog.

Both the Dragonfly Dreams and Oh So Succulent Stamp sets are used to create the stamped images for this card.

Life me Up Z fold card
This second card is made using the Lift Me Up stamp set with the Carried Away Designer paper from the Occasions and Sale-a-bration catalogs from this spring.

One of the things that I love about this card is using the design of the Carried Away Designer Series Paper in the design.  I cut out the mountains out of the Designer paper and used those on the 3D center portion of the card along with the map.

My son is moving to Canada next week for a new project with his job.  What a great card for him – moving onto new adventures!

A few weeks ago I posted this card for Valentine’s Day using the Sending love Designer Series Paper with the Sealed with Love Bundle.   This was actually the first Z Fold Card that I made.

Enjoy the Video!!

Beautiful You and Watercoloring

Today I have been working with the Stampin’ Up! Beautiful You Stamp set with Watercolor paper and the new Watercolor pencils.  I love the backgrounds that you can make with the Watercolor pencils.  I have put together a Watercolor class using the pencils and the Beautiful You stamp set!
Beautiful You Watercolor
This is a card that was inspired by one of my downlines on the Stamping New England Design Team, Margaret Galvez.  I love this card!

So the details on this card:

This 3D Frame is made by scoring a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Night of Navy Cardstock at 5″, 5 1/2″ & 10 1/2″.  Then cut out a window on the front panel by cutting 1/2″ in on each side of the card leaving a 1/2″ window.  Cut a 4 1/4″ x 1″ piece of Night of Navy cardstock.  Score down the middle at 1/2″  Fold in half and attach to inside of frame with Tear & Tape to hold the frame together.

The actual image in the frame is a 4 7/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of Watercolor paper.  I used the Rich Razzleberry and Melon Mambo pencils and scribbled on the Watercolor paper from the top to 2/3 of the way down the paper. Next I used an aqua painter filled with water to spread and blend the color from the pencils.  I used a fair  amount of water to make a lighter image.  You can use less water if you want a deeper image. Then I colored the bottom of the paper with the tempting turquoise pencil and again used the aqua painter to blend the pencil.  Set this aside to dry.

In the meantime – stamp the dancing lady from the Beautiful You stamp set on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock with Black Archival ink.  Use the pencils to color in this image and cut the lady out.  Ink up the top half of the lady and stamp on a scrap of dazzling diamonds glimmer paper to make just the top of the dress.  Cut this out.  Attach to the dancing lady image that you cut out.

After the watercolor paper has dried, stamp the dancing lady image again lining up the bottom of the foot with the line between the pink and blue of the background.  Use dimensionals on the back of your dancing lady that you have cut out.  Attach over the stamped image on the watercolor background.  Attach the background to the inside of the frame.

Stamp the phrase “Life Looks Beautiful on You”  with the black archival ink on a scrap of Whisper White.  Cut out with the layering oval framelits.  Cut an oval scallop one size larger from a scrap of Soft Sky cardstock.

To add a little dimension to the frame, I used a Wink of Stella pen to outline the inside edge of the frame.  It adds just enough pizazz to pull your eye to the card.

I hope you have enjoyed my card today!

Happy Stamping!

Red Hat meets Beautiful You Stamp set

Today I am sharing a card designed with the new Stampin’ Up! Beautiful You Stamp set to make a Red Hat card. This card was designed by one of my Downlines, Margaret.

This is a quick and simple card made with Elegant Eggplant cardstock cut to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ to form the card base.  The card base is embossed with the Softly Falling Embossing folder to add a little dimension.

And of course since Red Hat Colors are Red and Purple there is a layer of Real Red cardstock cut to 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″.  Next is a layer of Basic Black cut to 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ and a layer of Whisper white cut 3 1/8″ x 4 3/8″.

The image is stamped with Black Archival ink on the Whisper White cardstock.   The lady is stamped a second time on a scrap of Elegant Eggplant cardstock and cut out to piece the dress on the lady.  The hat is stamped a second time on Real Red cardstock and cut and pieced to the hat.

When designing cards there are several common measurements to use for layering.  A common layer is 1/4″ between pieces of cardstock.  On this card, a narrow 1/8″ layer is used to mat the focal piece of Whisper white cardstock.  Then a wider layer of 1/4″ is used between the Basic black and Real Red cardstock.   I like the framed look that the difference in layers gives the folcal point of the card.

Succulent Garden Ideas

Today I am sharing a card that I made with the Stampin’ Up! Succulent Garden suite of products.  All I can say is WOW!!  I love flowers and floral papers.  This is my new favorite floral set!  This set allows you to make beautiful 3D flowers.  Warning, it takes some time to cut all the pieces for these flowers.  So this is not a Stamp set that you would go to for quick cards.  Although that might be a good challenge.  Design some quick and easy cards with this set.

Well I am digressing.  So here are the details for this card.  This project uses the Succulent Garden Suite of products from Stampin’ Up!.  That is the Oh So Succulent Bundle with the stamp set and coordinating Framelits.  The paper is the Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper.

First you want to start by cutting out the 5 layers of the solid image flower using the framelits.  Stamp the tips of the larger layers with Sweet Sugarplum ink and the small stamp that highlights the tip of the flower.  I used glue dots to assemble the layers of the flower together.  I suggest that while you are cutting, cut out extra pieces so you can make the flowers to have on hand for cards…  I made a stack of flowers using a lot of colors including, Flirty Flamingo, So Saffron, Mint Macaroon, Perfect plum and Wisteria Wonder and of course Whisper White.

The card base is a 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ layer of Sweet Sugarplum cardstock scored at 4 1/4″.  Next is a 5 1/4″ x 4″ layer of Whisper White cardstock and a 3 3/4″ x 5″ layer of the Sweet Sugarplum checker pattern paper from the Succulent Garden DSP.  Adhere the designer paper to the Whisper White layer.  Add a piece of Sweet Sugarplum ribbon around the top left corner of the card.

Next is a 3″ x 3 1/2″ piece of Sweet Sugarplum layered with a 2 3/4″ x 3 1/4″ piece of the flowered pattern of Succulent Garden DSP.  Then a 2 1/8″ x 3 3/8″ piece of Old Olive cardstock layered with a 2″ x 3 1/4″ piece of Old Olive patterned paper from the Succulent Garden DSP.

Last, I added the flower at the intersection of the two DSP layers.  I love the look of this package of Designer Paper.

Here are the supplies that are used to make this card:

I will be adding a class with this stamp set on my Calendar for the spring!  Stay tuned to see what I make with the other flowers that I have.

Dragonfly Dreams CASE

If you have been following the crafting world, you may have heard the word CASE.  So what is a CASE?   CASE stands for Copy and Share Everything. A great compliment to fellow card designers since that means that someone really likes your card or project.  So I am going to show you how I CASED a card that one of my friend’s made this weekend at a stamping event.

Well today my card is inspired by two things – a card that my fellow Stamping Up!  BFF Angela made this weekend using the Dragonfly Dreams Stamp set and second, this week’s color challenge from the Global Design Team!

And here is Angela’s card.

So I used the technique and layout that Angela used on her card and changed the colors for this week’s GDP.  Here are the Details for my card:

The card base is Whisper White cut to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″.  The next layer is a piece of Delightful Dijon cardstock cut to 5 1/4″ x 4″.  Then the 3rd layer is a second piece of Whisper White cardstock cut to 3 3/4″ x 5″.

On the top layer of Whisper White, I stamped the polka dot background stamp from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set with Silver ink and embossed it with Silver embossing powder.  Next I used the coordinating Detailed Dragonfly framelits and cut the large dragonfly from the center of the card.  I inserted a Dragonfly that I cut with the same framelit with Silver Foil cardstock.  NOTE:  I used glue dots on the center of the body so the wings are loose and you can bend them to give the card a little dimension.  Next I cut a detailed dragonfly from a piece of Dazzling Details Glimmer Paper which I layered over the Silver Foil Dragonfly.

Then I cut a string of the little dragonflies from a scrap of a Delightful Dijon cardstock.  I cut apart a string of two dragonflies and a single dragonfly.  I colored the dragonflies with the Clear Wink of Stella Pen to add a little glitter to the dragonflies.  Then – don’t forget to stamp your sentiment to the card.  I used Delightful Dijon ink to stamp the sentiment.

And of course, I used a bling with Rhinestone jewels on the bodies of the dragonflies.

Here are the supplies that I used to make this card:
