On Monday Stampin’ Up! hosted a New Catalog Premiere at 40 theaters around the US and Canada. SU staff was in Long Beach, CA and made a live presentation on the new catalog which was broadcast around the county to the 40 theaters. So there were approximately 200 demonstrators that gathered in Marlboro, MA to get a sneak peak of the new catalog and see some demonstrations of new products! So when demos gather together the favorite thing to do is swap! I designed a masculine card as Father’s Day is coming up! The Designer Paper is High Tide Designer paper from the Occasions catalog. The stamp set is High Tide and Teeney Tiny wishes for the Father’s Day greeting. The shell is stamped using crumb cake ink on whisper white and punched out with the 1 3/8″ punch. I used a blender pen and little pink pirouette ink to highlight the contours of the shell. The fish is stamped with marina mist and highlighted with a little pear pizazz. The seahorse is stamped with crumb cake also. The card stocks are Calypso coral and soft sky layered onto pieces of designer paper from the High Tide Collection. I wasn’t too sure if I liked the combination of the bold stripes of the high tide paper under the stamped images – so I also tried the card using Crisp Cantaloupe stretchy ribbon in place of the bold stripe. In my opinion, the ribbon takes away from the masculine look of the card. But still a nice enhancement! Which do you like better?? So now the good stuff – Here is a picture of the new catalog which is fantastic!! As you can tell by the cover there are lots of new embellishments which are my favorite!! the two biggest additions to the new Catalog are: 1. The partnership with Becky Higgins and the introduction of Project Life products! Stampin’ Up! has developed several sets of Project Life journaling cards that coordinate with Stampin’ Up! colors and Becky Higgin’s line of products! 2. Blendabilities are here!! I just pre-ordered mine this morning and can’t wait to try them out! These are alcohol based markers that are used for coloring and deliver a much brighter color that the regular Stampin’ Write markers. 3. The heavy Baker’s Twine that was introduced during Sale-a-bration is back in the in-color family! There are several new frame lit sets and embossing folders. And of course – lots of great new stamp sets!! Stay tuned for samples with items from my pre-order! You will be able to place your order for new things on June 2nd. Have a great weekend!
Today’s card is a masculine card that I designed for Father’s Day with the By the Tide stamp set. As a person that loves the Ocean and living near the beach, I love this set! Card Details: The card base is Crumb Cake Cardstock and the background is from the Fresh Prints designer paper pack which has a lot of great bright colored designs. The Coral is stamped with Calypso Coral ink and embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. The piece stamped with coral is layered with a piece of Calypso Coral Cardstock. The Lobster is stamped with Rose Red ink and punched out using the 1 3/4″ circle punch. NOTE: I stamped the lobster twice and cut out the ends of the pinchers to make them extend beyond the side of the circle to give the piece more depth. The fish is inked with Wild Wasbi ink and punched out with the 1 3/8″ circle punch. I used a blender pen with a little marina mist ink to add blue shading to the fish and sponged the edge of the circle with marina mist ink. The sea horse is stamped with Summer Starfruit ink and punched out with the 1″ circle punch. The edge is sponged with summer starfruit ink pad. The anchor in the upper right corner is stamped with Soft Suede ink and punched out with the 1″ circle punch. I layered this onto a scrap of Soft Suede card stock and used a dimensional to add the depth to the card. Finally, the card is finished with a piece of burlap trim and a Naturals Button with a piece of Calypso Coral bakers twine fed through the button holes. This card uses the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge for this week!
This week challenge for the Late Night Stamper’s group is a Father’s Day card. I actually didn’t design this card but it is one of my favorites!! This card was designed by my downline and friend Michele LaCerda. Michele is in my downline but is actually the person that taught me to stamp!! She took me to my first SU party and then I just had sign up!! I wanted everything and my husband said that I had to find a way to pay for my addiction! LOL Then after I joined SU, she decided to signup. This July is actually her 10th anniversary as a demo!! Anyway – here is the card… The card base is going gray with the watch image from the Dapper Dad set stamped to create the background effect. I love the way she used the bottle cap for the face of the watch. The face of the watch is stamped in black and mounted onto the bottle cap. Crystal effects is applied over the stamped image to give it the look of glass. A piece of metallic silver cards tock is embossed for the background. This is my favorite card for Father’s Day that I have seen so far. Great job Michele! I will have to toot her horn since she doesn’t have a blog! Enjoy!
