Springtime Foil Fancy Fold Card

Springtime Foil Designer Series PaperToday I am sharing a beautiful Fancy Fold Card that I made with the Stampin’ Up! Springtime Foil Designer Series paper.   This Designer Series paper is by far my favorite of all the DSPs that I have seen in a while!  It is a thick glossy white cardstock with Silver, Gold and Copper embossed images..  It is simply gorgeous!

I saw this Fancy Fold technique on Pinterest and had to figure it out!  I love Fancy Fold techniques!  So I will see if I can explain it!  For cards like this – I always make a template.  I recommend using two different colors of Cardstock to make your template as it helps you to remember how the pieces fit together!

NOTE:  These pictures are from my template.  I used Pool Party as the base for this card and whisper white for the inside portion of the card.
1.  Card Base:  5 1/2″ x 11″ piece of cardstock,  scored at 5 1/2″.   cut a 3/4″ window on the front side of the card.  Line up your paper trimmer at 3/4″.  Move your cutting blade to 3/4″ on the top clear ruler of the cutter.  Cut up to 4 3/4″.  Rotate your piece and make the next cut.  Cut each side to make a window.  When you are finished you will have a 4″ square.  Save this square.  You will use it later on.

2.  Cut a coordinating piece of cardstock to 7 1/2″ x 5 1/4″, score at 2 1/2″ and 5″ (I used whisper white for my 2nd piece on my template).  Fold in a Z pattern.  Attach the back of the 2nd piece to the back of the base.  With the Z fold – the two pieces together will form a square in the center.

3.  Attach the 4″ square that you cut when you cut out the window to the front part of the Z fold.  I trimmed 1/8″ off two sides so the piece will fold smoothly thru the window of the card base.  I then added a 3 1/2″ square of whisper white as a layer.

4.  Cut two tabs to 3/4″ x 5 1/4″.  Score each at 2 1/2″.  Line up the score line on the tab with the line where the white piece lines up with the Pool Party piece.  Attach the tabs (cut from Pool Party) to the back side of the inside piece, white piece, and attach to the inside of the window frame.  Do the same on the bottom.   NOTE:  I added a small piece of white over the tab on the back of the white piece to make the tab less noticeable.

That’s it!  So here are pictures of my finished project with the Springtime Foil DSP.  I do love this DSP – did I mention that already?  The flowers on the front are fussy cut from the Copper Foil design and colored with the Blends markers.  The square on this card is a 4″ square of Gold Foil that I have embossed with the Layered Leaves embossing folder.   I stamped “wedding wishes” from the Rose Wonder stamp set with versamark and embossed with Silver embossing powder.

The inside piece for my Springtime Foil card is the embossed leaves.  I stamped 3 of the small flowers from the Rose Wonder stamp set on a piece of Glossy White cardstock, embossed them and cut them out with the coordinating thinlits.  I added a message also from the Rose Wonder stamp set to the back layer of the card.

So I hope you have liked my project today.  I am planning on recording a video for this technique.

So the important point for this week – is this the last week of Sale-a-bration!  So don’t miss out!

Snowflake Flip Card Detail

Snowflake Flip card

This card uses the Snowflake Card Thinlits dies to create the flip card. Cardstocks:
  • Soft Sky cardstock
  • Lost Lagoon cardstock
  • Whisper White cardstock
  • Dazzling Details Glimmer paper
  • All is Calm Designer paper (now retired)
The Card Details: The soft sky cardstock is cut at 5 3/8" x 8 1/2".  The designer paper is cut at 5 1/4" x 5 1/2" to layer over the fold of the card.  These are lightly adhered together and then run through my die cutting machine with the Snowflake Card Thinlits.

Once I run this through the machine and fold the card, I added a little more snail to the points of the snowflake and around the snowflake to better adhere the designer paper.DSCN0440cu  Once you fold the card, the side with the snowflake with the designer paper is on back.  I carefully cut out the snowflake and cut just a snowflake from whisper white using the thinlit die. Need some help with this technique?  Check out my VIDEO HERE on how to use the thinlit die to cut the card base and a second white snowflake.

I used the medium snowflake die to cut 2 snowflakes from the lost lagoon designer paper and 2 small snowflakes from the Dazzling Details Glimmer paper.  These are layered on each dies of the flip portion of the snowflake.  snowflake flip cardA silver sequin is added to the center of the smaller snowflake from the Frosted Sequins embellishments.

On the inside flap of the card, I used a piece of 2 3/8" x 5 1/4" whisper white cardstock to layer on the inside flap of the card.  I added a small strip of dazzling diamonds glimmer paper along the bottom with a scrap of Lost Lagoon cardstock with a scalloped edge made with the scallop edge punch.  At the top of the piece I added the medium snowflake cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.

The word Sparkle is stamped with Lost Lagoon ink. As an added touch, I did some faux stitching around the large snowflakes.  On the front soft sky side, I used my white pen to stitch around the edge of the snowflake.  When you flip open the card, the inside of the snowflake and the white panel are stitched with my Lost Lagoon marker. Last but not least I added some of the sequins from the Frosted Sequins embellishments randomly on the card.

Easy Flip Card

Christmas Flip Card  Today I have an Easy Flip Card that I recently made for the Stamping New England Christmas in July class.   So this flip card is made without any special flip card thinlits.

Each month the Stamping New England Design Team designs a set of projects around a specific stamp set and Designer paper from the Stmapin’ Up! catalog.   For July we used the Lots of Joy stamp set and Merry Moments Designer paper for a theme of  Christmas in July.

So the details on this card.  The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 5 3/4″ piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.  Score at 2 1/4″ and 3 1/4″ to make the folds for the flip portion of the card.  The tabs are made using the Lots of Labels Framelits with stamped images from the Lots of Joy Stamp set.   The images are stamped with real red and old olive ink.

Check out my video for this card HERE.

Snowflake Flip Card

Over the past couple of weeks I have have posted several handmade card samples made with new stamp sets that are going to be in the upcoming Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog on August 28th.  One of the perks of being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator is the ability to preorder from upcoming catalogs a month early which allows us Demonstrators to make samples to share with all of you before the catalog is released to customers.  Well the problem that I always have is deciding which setsSnowflake Flip Card I like best and which one to start with making samples.  Also which new Designer papers are my favorite. Yesterday, I posted a Holiday card made without a stamp set, but from paper and a tree die from the Snowflakes Card Thinlit set.  Here is another card made with the thinlit set.  I do really like the flip card patterns that Stampin’ Up! has come out with over the past couple of years. I have to admit that this card was not easy to photograph either.  Because it is a flip card, it keeps opening up making it very difficult to photograph! This card uses the Snowflake Card Thinlits dies to create the flip card. Cardstocks:
  • Soft Sky cardstock
  • Lost Lagoon cardstock
  • Whisper White cardstock
  • Dazzling Details Glimmer paper
  • All is Calm Designer paper
Snowflake Flip card         I love the snow scene look of the All is Calm designer paper.  And Holiday papers with the blue tones are always my favorite!  I didn’t think that Stampin’ Up! could top last years Holiday designer paper in the blue tones, but they have with this combination of patterns using soft sky, lost lagoon, smokey slate – which coordinates great with the Silver Glimmer paper and pear pizazz. The Card Details: The soft sky cardstock is cut at 5 3/8″ x 8 1/2″.  The designer paper is cut at 5 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ to layer over the fold of the card.  These are lightly adhered together and then run through my die cutting machine with the Snowflake Card Thinlits.  Once I run this through the machine and fold the card, I added a little more snail to the points of the snowflake and around the snowflake to better adhere the designer paper.  Once you fold the card, the side with the snowflake with the designer paper is on back.  I carefully cut out the snowflake and cut just a snowflake from whisper white using the thinlit die.    Need some help with this technique?  Check out my VIDEO HERE on how to use the thinlit die to cut the card base and a second white snowflake.   DSCN0440cu I used the medium snowflake die to cut 2 snowflakes from the lost lagoon designer paper and 2 small snowflakes from the Dazzling Details Glimmer paper.  These are layered on each dies of the flip portion of the snowflake.  snowflake flip cardA silver sequin is added to the center of the smaller snowflake from the Frosted Sequins embellishments.           On the inside flap of the card, I usDSCN0456wed a piece of 2 3/8″ x 5 1/4″ whisper white cardstock to layer on the inside flap of the card.
