Handmade Z Fold Graduation Card

Z Fold Graduation CardToday I am sharing a handmade Z Fold Graduation card that I made for my daughter this past weekend!

I am so proud of my baby girl (now 21).  She graduated with a degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from Sacred Heart University on Sunday.  She has been accepted into a Masters Program at Case Western Reserve so is moving to Cleveland, Ohio at the end of the summer…  Eventually she wants to go to Medical school.  Anyway, back to the card.

I choose the colors of Cherry Cobbler and Crushed Curry since Sacred Heart’s colors are dark red and yellow – along with gray.
This card uses the Stampin’ Up!’s Birthday Blast stamp set with the Star Blast Edgelit dies.  But hurry and get your copy of this set. This set is retiring and will be gone at the end of May!  I also used the Star framelits to cut out extra stars.  The numbers are cut out with with the Large Number Framelits.
Handmade Z Fold Graduation Card
The Star Blast framelit was used to cut out an applique from Gold Glimmer paper and also from Red Glimmer paper.

So to make this card:
The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock scored at 5 1/2″ and 7 3/4″.  Fold the base into a Z shape.  Each panel of the Z is layered with Crushed Curry cardstock.  The front cross-panel is a 1″ x 11″ piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock scored at 5 1/2″ and 7 3/4″.  I then layered a 7/8″ x 11 inch piece of crushed curry card stock over this piece.  Fold it in the opposite direction of the card.  So the long side is matched up with the short side of the card.

Handmade Graduation Cards

grad chocolatesToday I am sharing a couple of handmade graduation cards that I have made over the past week.  Where does time go??  We have now been in our house for 24 years.  My two kids grew up with other families in our neighborhood.  Well today – 3 of the other kids are graduating.  One from high school and two from college.   So we are having a neighborhood party today.
The chocolate graduation caps are made with peanut butter cups and a square of choclate.  What a cut idea that I found on Pinterest.

I made the first Graduation card with the BYOP Stamp set and Night of Navy Cardstock and ink.  The piece of Whisper White cardstock is embossed with the Stylish Stripes embossing folder.  I also embossed a one inch piece of Metallic Silver cardstock with the same embossing folder.grad-1w  I love the elegant look that this embossing folder adds to a card.  The ribbon is a piece of midnight muse ribbon that I had laying around.  A great way to use up scraps!

This second card is a variation that I made for a couple of my tennis kids that are graduating from NotNDA grad2_wre Dame Academy, a local high school.  These are the type of cards that I sell on my Etsy Store.  I like to personal a graduation card with the school logo so did not use the Stylish Stripes embossing folder on this card.  I also added a layer of Crushed curry cardstock to represent NDA colors which are Navy and Gold.
NDA grad

On the inside of the card I used the Bravo stamp set which is a great all occasion stamp set for sentiments.

The stars are cut from the Stars framelits using Dazzling Details Glitter Paper, Night of Navy Cardstock and Crushed Curry Cardstock.

Enjoy your day!

Graduation Card and Weekly specials

MSC-grad-wToday  I am sharing a Graduation card with you that I designed for the Stamping New England Design team and I shared with my Stamper’s Club last week.

This is one of my favorite cards from our May class which included Masculine and Graduation cards.   This card uses the Bravo Stamp set and the Adventure Bound Designer paper stack from the Occasions catalog.

One of the great advantages of Stampin’ Up!’s Designer Series Papers (DSP) is they are double sided and all of the colors coordinate with Stampin’ Up!’s colors.

Like these ideas?  Interested in receiving a FREE papercrafting Class each month in your email box?  Then check out joining my Stamper’s Club.  For a purchase of $35 per month, you will receive a full detailed PDF with instructions for 5 or 6 projects for the month.  Many of the Class files include links to a technique video that shows you exactly how to do a specific technique that I am using that month.

Another benefit to joining my Stamper’s Club is the Design Team.  You have access to designs from 5 Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators who are all very experienced stampers!  I love that since we each have a different style and that gives me access to a greater variety of projects.  Check out more on my Stamper’s Club HERE.

Handmade Graduation Card

photo 2wToday I have a graduation card that I whipped up for our niece that just graduated from Wachusett Regional High School!  Congratulations Hillary!! I used My Digital Studio to create the front panel of the card using the feet from the Go Graduate stamp set!  The 2014 is from the Embark Graduate MDS digital set.  My favorite thing about using MDS is that I have access to stamp sets that I don’t have!!grad 1 The hats are from the Pomp and Circumstance set that was in the Spring Catalog. Here is the inside of the card. And of course the card has to have bling – especially for Hillary!  So I added this diploma and tied the silver ribbon around it! grad 3_cu   Now off to the party – My husband is chomping at the bit here!     Have a great weekend! signature line-003

Handmade Graduation Card

This graduation card is made with the Modern Medley Designer paper with black and vanilla card stocks.   I used the sketch from the MojoMonday Challenge for the design of the card.  Here are the details: DSCN0197_wThe card base is Very vanilla with a  layer of Basic Black.  I used a couple of different patterns from the Modern Medley designer paper to make the card.  I like the contrast of the small dots with the damask pattern on the side.  The side panel is layered on a piece of basic black with one side punched with the scallop edge punch. I like the designer paper with the musical score.  This would be a great graduation card for a music student! The stamp set is the Pomp and Circumstance Stamp set from the current Occasions catalog.   Enjoy your day! signature line-003 .

Update on the SanClemente Family

If you have been following my blog, then you know that I have been really busy with graduations this spring and that I haven’t had the time to play with my new catalog toys as I would have liked…  So instead of cards with new ideas, I’ll post some family shots.  This is what I have been doing with my week off from my business! First, our son John, graduated from Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY on May 11th with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.   Here are a few pictures from the day.  It had been in the 80’s every day the week of their Senior week.  So John had fun playing golf and hanging out with his friends the week.  Of course I pack for 80 degree weather with some shorts, one pair of jeans and a sleeveless dress.  I did throw a sweater in my bag at the last minute.  So we show up on Friday afternoon and the temperature drops and the clouds come in.  Fortunately graduation was inside but the post-graduation reception was outside and was cold and very windy…   DSC_6063eweb       This is John with our daughter Emily (who is graduating from high school 8 days later!) This photo is all of us outside in the cold.  My husband Dave, John, Emily and me. DSC_6070web           After John’s graduation we went back to his Fraternity house and had a great time meeting some of the other parents of his friends.  Then Sunday was the bittersweet process of packing all of John’s things from 4 years of college into our two cars…  How can 4 years have gone so fast??   The next week was all of the Senior activities and award ceremonies for our Daughter Emily’s graduation from the Academy of Notre Dame in Tyngsboro, MA…  This first picture is the award ceremony on Thursday night. awards-NDAweb Emily is a Math and Science girl.  She also has a natural aptitude for computer science and received an award from the Computer Science teacher.   Since NDA is an all girls high school, they wear a white gown with a ring of roses in their hair for graduation rather than the traditional graduation gowns. Egradedweb The girls looked beautiful walking down the front steps of the school in their white gowns!   j&e-web                 Our two grads together!!  Then time to go home and celebrate!!  Fortunately the rain held off during graduation and then the skys opened up when we got home.  So we ended up with a make shift tarp over the deck on the back of the house to accommodate our cookout plans.   The day ended with a great celebration with family and friends!   What an insane week! Needless to say, I slept all day Monday and Tuesday!

LNS Challenge – Graduation Announcement

This week’s challenge on the Late Night Stamper Group is Celebrate!  Spring is a time for celebrations and I have two reasons to celebrate. Both of my kids are graduating in the next two weeks.  So I am a very proud Mother!! My son John, is graduating from Clarkson University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering on May 11th.  What a great Mother’s Day present.  My lovely daughter is graduating from the Academy of Notre Dame (High school) on Sunday May 19th.  So as you can imagine we are celebrating!! I put together a Graduation announcement/party invite using My Digital Studio.  I love this program! graduation2-001   I downloaded the Embark Graduate MDS Ensemble and used the template for a card that was included in the program.  Then of course I had to customize it to represent the two schools that my kids attend.  Clarkson’s colors are dark green and gold.  Notre Dame  is Navy and Gold.  I then added the logo for each of their schools. The feet are from the “Go Graduate” stamp set. I have to say that I am really happy with the way this card came out! So what is next for me and my family?  I will have an empty nest in the fall.  My daughter will be attending Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT to study Pre-med/Pharmacy.  My son will be starting a job with Dresser-Rand.  As he said – “this college thing pays off”!   Thanks for looking! signature line-red

Graduation is coming

This morning I am posting a cute graduation card that I CASED from my downline Michele Lacerda.  Michele 100_9115 made this really cute card for me with the owl punch.  I thought what a great grad card that would be.  So I added a graduation hat to the owl. The graduation hat is from the Sock Monkey accessory set.  I just love the accessory sets!!  Always some good individual stamps that you can use for something just like this! I love the combination of colors and the texture with the square lattice folder.  The colors are cherry cobbler, daffodil delight and chocolate chip on a layer of crumb cake. I searched through my scraps of designer paper for a tiny piece with the right pattern to make the front of the owl. So this card is now out on Etsy!  Thanks Michele for the idea!   signature line-red
