Sale-a-bration

Delicate Details and Sale-a-bration

Today I am sharing a card that I madDelicate Details and Avant Gardene with my Stamp Club in February with the Stampin’ Up! Delicate Details Stamp set.  This stamp set is from the Sale-a-bration catalog which ends tomorrow on Friday!  So if you want this set – time is winding down!

The Delicate Details stamp set is perfect for making very feminine, lacey cards.  Perfect for a wedding or shower card!

With this card, I also chose to use a couple of the in-colors.  I like the combination of these colors and the soft look.

The background colors are Dapper Denim and Mint Macaron which are stamped alternately with 3 of the stamps from the Delicate Details stamp set.  The Flower is from the Avant Garden stamp set.  I used the Dapper Denim and Cucumber Crush markers to color the image on the floral stamp.  This is stamped on an oval of whisper white cardstock and layered on a scalloped oval of dapper denim.  These ovals are cut using the Layering Ovals Thinlits.

Finally a piece of Dapper Denim ribbon is used to finish off this project.

So don’t miss out!  Tomorrow is the last day to order from the Sale-a-bration catalog!  i love to share the hostess benefits with my customers.  If your order is under $150 then use the hostess code US9TNKY4 and I will send you a 6×6 sampler of the Falling in Love Designer Paper.  Of course if your order is over $150 then take the hostess benefits for yourself!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you liked my card made with the Delicate Details stamp set!

Beautiful You and Watercoloring

Today I have been working with the Stampin’ Up! Beautiful You Stamp set with Watercolor paper and the new Watercolor pencils.  I love the backgrounds that you can make with the Watercolor pencils.  I have put together a Watercolor class using the pencils and the Beautiful You stamp set!
Beautiful You Watercolor
This is a card that was inspired by one of my downlines on the Stamping New England Design Team, Margaret Galvez.  I love this card!

So the details on this card:

This 3D Frame is made by scoring a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Night of Navy Cardstock at 5″, 5 1/2″ & 10 1/2″.  Then cut out a window on the front panel by cutting 1/2″ in on each side of the card leaving a 1/2″ window.  Cut a 4 1/4″ x 1″ piece of Night of Navy cardstock.  Score down the middle at 1/2″  Fold in half and attach to inside of frame with Tear & Tape to hold the frame together.

The actual image in the frame is a 4 7/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of Watercolor paper.  I used the Rich Razzleberry and Melon Mambo pencils and scribbled on the Watercolor paper from the top to 2/3 of the way down the paper. Next I used an aqua painter filled with water to spread and blend the color from the pencils.  I used a fair  amount of water to make a lighter image.  You can use less water if you want a deeper image. Then I colored the bottom of the paper with the tempting turquoise pencil and again used the aqua painter to blend the pencil.  Set this aside to dry.

In the meantime – stamp the dancing lady from the Beautiful You stamp set on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock with Black Archival ink.  Use the pencils to color in this image and cut the lady out.  Ink up the top half of the lady and stamp on a scrap of dazzling diamonds glimmer paper to make just the top of the dress.  Cut this out.  Attach to the dancing lady image that you cut out.

After the watercolor paper has dried, stamp the dancing lady image again lining up the bottom of the foot with the line between the pink and blue of the background.  Use dimensionals on the back of your dancing lady that you have cut out.  Attach over the stamped image on the watercolor background.  Attach the background to the inside of the frame.

Stamp the phrase “Life Looks Beautiful on You”  with the black archival ink on a scrap of Whisper White.  Cut out with the layering oval framelits.  Cut an oval scallop one size larger from a scrap of Soft Sky cardstock.

To add a little dimension to the frame, I used a Wink of Stella pen to outline the inside edge of the frame.  It adds just enough pizazz to pull your eye to the card.

I hope you have enjoyed my card today!

Happy Stamping!

Sneak Peak Avant Garden Z Fold Card

avant-garden-wToday I am posting a Sneak Peak of a Z Fold Card that I made with the new Sale-a-bration stamp set Avant Garden for a swap.  Swaps are part of a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator’s life when a new catalog is coming out.  Since we can’t buy everything (even though we want to), as a Demonstrator we can purchase sets a month early to make samples and prep for classes.  And we do want samples of stamp sets that we don’t own to show our customers and to use for our displays.  So we all participate in swaps.  Each Demonstrator designs 1 project and then makes multiple copies of the project to trade with other demonstrators.  I just received some cool cards yesterday from a swap with the new sets that are coming out on Wednesday January 4th with the new Occasions Catalog and Sale-a-bration!

So this is one of the cards that I designed using the Avant Garden stamp set which is the new floral set in the upcoming Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration catalog.  I also made this card in two different color schemes.  The first color scheme is Island Indigo with Mint Macaroon and the second is Rich Razzleberry with Sweet Sugarplum.  The Designer series paper is Blooms & Bliss from the catalog.

Z Fold Card Directions:
Card base:
5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 2 1/8″ &
4 1/4″ and fold the casugarplum-avant-garden-wrd in a Z format!
Front Background layer:
a 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Blooms & Bliss Designer Series Paper.

The Inside of the card is a coordinating color (mint macaroon or Sweet sugarplum) cut to 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ with a piece of Blooms & Bliss Designer Series paper cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″.

The main element on the front of the card is the flower from the Avant Garden Stamp set stamped with Island Indigo Ink or Sweet Sugarplum & Rich Razzleberry stamped on a 2″ x 3 1/2″ piece of Whisper White cardstock.  The background behind the flower is stamped lightly with Mint Macaroon or Blushing Bride ink stamped off – so the image is very light.  The flower is layered onto a piece of darker cardstock cut to 2 1/8″ x 3 5/8″.  This is layered onto a piece of the lighter cardstock cut to
2 3/8″ x 3 7/8″

The message “Thanks for being you.” is stamped on the front of the card. The flower petals are enhanced with the Clear Wink of Stella brush that adds a little glitter to the image.  And of course Rhinestone jewels were added along the bottom of the piece.  I used a larger jewel in the center to add a little dimension.

Ready to place an order?  I love to share hostess benefits with my customers!  So if your order is under $150, then use the hostess code RHSP2U6R and I will send you a 6×6 sampler of the Falling in Love Designer Series Paper from the Occasions catalog.  Of course if your order is over $150 collect the hostess benefits for yourself!

So do you like the Island Indigo/Mint Macaroon or Rich Razzleberry/Sweet Sugarplum card better?

Botanical Blooms card

botanical bloom-wToday I am working on designs for an upcoming class using the new Stampin’ Up! Botanical Blooms stamp set and matching framelits.  This stamp set has some beautiful Designer paper with it – Botanical Blooms but I think this stamp set also goes well with the Sale-a-bration paper Wildflower Fields.  So I am planning on making this card with the Botanical Blooms paper too.

In the meantime – here are the details for this card.  The card is inspired by today’s Mojo Monday sketch.

The card base is Lost Lagoon cardstock cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″.  The next layer is a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock cut to 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ framing a piece of the Wildflower fields  Designer paper cut at 3 3/4″ x 5″.  Next I cut a piece of the Blackberry Bliss flowered pattern to 1 1/2″ x 3″ and layered this onto a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock trimmed to a banner.

The flowers are cut from Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, So Saffron and Pink Piroubotanical bloom cuette cardstock scraps with the Botanical Framelits.  I used a scrap of the Blushing Bride Glimmer paper to make the center of the flowers from the framelits.  And of course, you need bling – so I added a Rhinestone jewel to the center of each flower.

I will add the matching card made with Botanical Blooms designer paper later this evening after I finish it!

Sale-a-bration Card & Weekly Specials

Today I am sharing a Sale-a-bration card that I CASED from my friend Barbara Lash using the Sale-a-bration set Honeycomb Happiness.

Did you know that Stampin’ Up! supports the Ronald McDonald House program each year?  Stampin’ Up! designs a specific stamp set for the Ronald McDonald house each year and donates $3 from the proceeds from the designated set to this great charity each year!  To date StamChicks croppedpin’ Up! has donated over $1,000,000 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.  Well, Barbara is the coordinator for the Boston Ronald McDonald House.  Last week a few of us got together to make some note pads for the parents and family members that are staying at the house.  What a great time we had!

Onto this card.  This is a quick and easy card since it is only one layer.  The cute little chicks from the Honeycomb Happiness stamp set are stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock with Black Momento ink.  The chicks are also stamped on scraps of the Love Blossoms Designer paper and cut out.   Next I stamped a balloon with each chick and added these cute little Honeycombs that are in the Occasions catalog for each balloon.  I used a Black Stampin’ Write marker to highlight the chick’s eyes.  I used a Rose Red, Lost Lagoon and So Saffron markers to color in the bows on the balloons.  The feet are colored with a Pumpkin Pie marker.  That’s it!  quick and easy!

Below are the specials for this week.

Ready to place an order?  If your order is under $150, then use the hostess code UYPQFSKP and I will send you a ribbon sampler.  I love to share the hostess benefits with my customers!

And don’t forget about your Sale-a-bration items for FREE!
Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Birthday Card & Weekly Specials

Balloon Celebrations

Today I have a card share using the new Stampin’ Up! Balloon Celebration stamp set with the Party Pop-up thinlits!  I love these thinlits to make a really cool pop-up feature to your card!  And don’t forget to order the Balloon Celebration stamp set bundle so you have the punch to punch out the balloons that you have stamped!

If you have read my blog before – you know that I love sketches.  This card is inspired by this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge.

So the details of this card:
This card is a 5″ square card so uses a 5″ x 10″ piece of whisper white cardstock which is scored at 5″ and folded in half to make the card base.

Next is a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock cut to 4 7/8″ x 4 7/8″.  Then a piece of the It’s My Party Designer paper cut to 4 3/4″ x 4 3/4″.

The 3 banners in the background are made with strips of It’s My Party designer paper cut to 1 1/4″x 4″ and 2 pieces of other patterns of the designer paper cut to 1 1/4″ x 5″.  Each banner is layered onto a piece of coordinating camsc feb-curdstocks cut from Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry and Mint Macaron.  Next is a piece of designer paper with the balloons cut to 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ and layered onto a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock that is 2 5/8″ x 4 5/8″.

Next the fun part! Stamping the balloons.  I used Melon Mambo ink to stamp the balloons on a scrap of Melon Mambo cardstock and Crushed Curry ink to stamp the curry balloon on a scrap of Crushed Curry cardstock.  The balloons are punched out with the balloon punch.  Next is a piece of Crushed curry baker’s twine tied to each balloon.  Then I stamped Happy Birthday with Melon Mambo ink, cut the piece into a banner shape and layered this onto a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock.  The balloons and Happy Birthday banner were attached to the card with dimensionals to make them pop!  To finish off the front of the card I added 3msc feb-inside of the It’s my party enamel dots.

And finally – my favorite part of this card – the Pop-up die in the middle of the card!  I cut a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock to 4 3/4″ x 9 1/2″ scored at 4 3/4″ and folded in half for the center of the card.  When you look at the thinlit, you will notice an arrow at the bottom of the cake plate.  Line up the arrow with the center fold of the Melon Mambo cardstock.  There is another arrow in between the candles.  Once you have this lined up, cut on your Big shot machine.

Voila!  Fold the Melon Mambo piece and your Birthday Cake will POP!  Attach this to the center of your card and stamp your sentiment on the bottom.  I added a piece of the It’s My Party Washi tape to each side of the melon mambo edge.   That’s it!

Here are the supplies that you need to make this card:

....and If you are placing an order don't forget about this week's specials and your Sale-a-bration items! I can't wait to play around with this Pop-up Thinlits die some more!   I am also submitting this card to the Send a Smile 4 Kids which is a great organization that collects handmade cards to give to kids in hospitals around the country!!

Second Lotus Blossom Card

Today I have anotherDSCN0595w Lotus Blossom card to share with you.  Since Sale-a-bration is winding down (2 weeks left) I thought that I would post items using the SAB sets to inspire everyone!

So this card uses the same sketch as the Lotus card that I posted on Monday for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge.  One of my friends was looking at the Lost Lagoon Lotus card that I made on Monday and really liked it.  She is a new stamper so I showed her how to use a sketch to create a card.

As any of you know, sketches are my favorite way to create cards.  Then I just pull out a Designer paper that I like, the coordinating cardstock colors and choose a 100_0542wstamp set that has an image that fits with the shape of the sketch!  On Monday I made this card using the All ABloom DSP paper stack.  The Red lotus blossom card was made using the Stacked with Love DSP paper stack.  When I was stamping the Lotus blossom, I had a stray little mark.  So I was planning to re-stamp the image and was told to leave it.  This card has an Asian feel with the black and red colors and it is Asian custom to leave stray marks.  They are considered part of the card and meant to be there.

So which one do you like better??

If you haven’t had a chance to see it, watch the VIDEO that I recorded for this sketch/card challenge.

Enjoy!

Handmade Sale-a-bration Card

lotus blossom cardToday I have a card made with the Lotus Blossom Stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration catalog.  This flower is beautiful!  The card is inspired by today’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge.

When I looked at this sketch, I envisioned the main element being framed by the card rather than as an image layered on top of the card.

zzmojo389

Here are the details for this card:

Cardstock:  Lost Lagoon, So saffron, Whisper white and the All Abloom Designer paper stack.
Stamp set:  Lotus Blossom Sale-a-bration set
Inks:  Lost Lagoon and Night of Navy inks

The Lotus Blossom stamp set is a 3 part stamp.  So what does that mean?  It means that you can use multiple colors to stamp the image – in this case the Lotus Blossom flower.  That adds detail and depth to the flower that you just can’t get with a flower that is one color.

So the trick with the Lotus Blossom stamp set is to line up the pieces of the stamp.  Stampin’ Up! has added a tab to the top of the stamp image to help with alignment.  First you want to start with the background shade which will be the lightest color.  So I used Lost Lagoon ink and stamped off on a scrap of paper then stamped the image on a 3″ square of whisper white.  That gives you a lighter shade.  Then I stamped the second image of the 3 part stamp with Lost Lagoon ink (not stamped off) so that you have the full color.  The third step of the stamp is stamped with Night of Navy ink which is a shade darker than the Lost Lagoon.  Check out the video that I recorded to show how to stamp with the 3 part stamps HERE.

It is hard to see with the card, but I stamped a second image and cut the image out.  It is attached to the card with dimensionals and has a little dazzling details glitter glue added to the highlights of the flower to give it a little bling!

So I decided to make a video today on how to make this card with a 3 part image.  You can check it out HERE on You Tube:

Enjoy!!
