Delicate Details and Sale-a-bration

Today I am sharing a card that I madDelicate Details and Avant Gardene with my Stamp Club in February with the Stampin’ Up! Delicate Details Stamp set.  This stamp set is from the Sale-a-bration catalog which ends tomorrow on Friday!  So if you want this set – time is winding down!

The Delicate Details stamp set is perfect for making very feminine, lacey cards.  Perfect for a wedding or shower card!

With this card, I also chose to use a couple of the in-colors.  I like the combination of these colors and the soft look.

The background colors are Dapper Denim and Mint Macaron which are stamped alternately with 3 of the stamps from the Delicate Details stamp set.  The Flower is from the Avant Garden stamp set.  I used the Dapper Denim and Cucumber Crush markers to color the image on the floral stamp.  This is stamped on an oval of whisper white cardstock and layered on a scalloped oval of dapper denim.  These ovals are cut using the Layering Ovals Thinlits.

Finally a piece of Dapper Denim ribbon is used to finish off this project.

So don’t miss out!  Tomorrow is the last day to order from the Sale-a-bration catalog!  i love to share the hostess benefits with my customers.  If your order is under $150 then use the hostess code US9TNKY4 and I will send you a 6×6 sampler of the Falling in Love Designer Paper.  Of course if your order is over $150 then take the hostess benefits for yourself!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you liked my card made with the Delicate Details stamp set!

So I am sorry that I have been missing in action this past couple of weeks.  I have had some big changes in my life.   I am in process of getting my house ready to sell.  I have purchased a maintenance free "villa" and will be moving the first of May.  The best news is that my new place has a huge finished basement that will be perfect for my classes and work!

Here are a couple of cards that were made at my last class on April 1st.  The first card was designed by Margaret on the Stamping New England Design Team using the Sale-a-bration set Wildflower fields.  Well a couple of my customers made her card and changed it up a little with color and designer paper.

Wildflower-w This first card is the card that Margaret designed for the Stamping New England Design Team.

This second and third cards are copies that a couple of my customers made at my last class!

Today I have a Technique Class to share with you that teaches you a couple of different ways to use the Resist Technique.  My favorite stamp set from the Spring Occasions catalog is Sheltering Tree.  I love the versatility of this set and the majestic tree.  You can stamp the image and make the tree look casual or very regal.

Each month I develop a class that members of my Stamper’s Club receive for FREE as part of their monthly membership.  One of my stamp club members asked me to teach a class on Resist techniques.  So I used the Sheltering Tree set and developed several different cards using variations of the Resist Technique  The next logical thing to do was to video these techniques and put a class together to share with the rest of the world.  So here it is!

This class includes a Video demonstrating 4 different variations of the Resist Techniques.  Included is a color PDF with full detailed instructions for 7 cards using the Sheltering Tree stamp set.  The cost of this class is $25 and you will have lifetime access to the class and video.

    Handmade All Occasion Card

Today I have a handmade all Occasion card that was DSCN0643wdesigned with the Stampin’ Up! stamp Love is Kindness.  The inspiration for this card came from this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge.  I love Sketches and find that is the easiest way for me to work on design of a new project.

To begin, I look at the focal point of the sketchMojo392 and then select an image that I think will work with that focal piece.

Next I like to select a Designer paper and then pull out the coordinating colors that go with the Designer paper.  One of the advantages to using Stmapin’ Up! products.  All the designer papers coordinate with Stampin’ Up!’s 50 exclusive colors.

In this case, I choose the color of Strawberry Slush and the coordinating DSP stack.  I also choose the All Abloom DSP stack which has Strawberry Slush papers also.  The focal image of the tulips is stamped using Black Staz-on ink and colored with a blender pen and the inks.  DSCN0641cu My first version of this card was made with 3 patterns from the In-color DSP stack with Strawberry Slush.  You can see the 3 patterns behind the Tulip image to the right.

After I finished the card, I realized that I wanted to try again but bring in another coordinating piece of DSP from the All Abloom DSP stack for the middle strip of the background piece.

For more information on this card check out the video that I recorded HERE.

    Handmade Easter Card

Handmade Easter CardToday I have a handmade Easter Card that was inspired by one of my fellow team members on the Stamping New England Design Team.  Our theme for the month of March is Easter cards.   I changed the design of the card to use it for today’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge.

So here are the details of this card:
Chocolate Chip, Soft Suede, Baked Brown Sugar and Sahara Sand.

Fold a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock in half at 4 1/4″ to make the card base.  Use the Wood Grain embossing folder to add texture to a piece of 4 x 5 1/4″ Soft suede cardstock.  The Cross is made from scraps of baked Brown sugar cardstock that I stamped with the wood grain image from the Truly Grateful stamp set.  You can also use the Hardwood Background stamp to create the woodgrain effect.  Linen Thread is wrapped around the cross piece of the cross.

The flowers are stamped using Daffodil Delight ink and the nPetite Petals stamp set and punched out with the coordinating petite petals punch.  The center of the flowers have been highlighted with the pumpkin pie marker.  The circle in the background is punched from a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock.  Easter wishes is stamped on a scrap of crumb cake cardstock and added with dimensionals.  Finally I added a button threaded with linen thread to the top corner of the card for an embellishment.

Stay tuned for more sneak peaks of Easter cards from the Stamping New England design team.  Interested in card ideas each month from our design team?   Join my Stamper’s Club and receive our card ideas each month.  Check out the details HERE.

    Handmade card for a Challenge

    A little bit of Magic
Today I have a handmade card that was inspired by two challenges that I saw last week.  The colors I used are inspired by a challenge on colourQ and the SUO Challenge for this week is to make a Teen focused card.
So I used the colors, Coastal Cabana, Wisteria Wonder, Crisp Cantaloupe and Pear Pizazz card stocks which are the current equivalents to the colors listed on the colourQ challenge.  As soon as I saw this challenge, I thought of the retired stamp set A Little bit of Magic which I have always loved and fits in with the SUO Challenge theme of a card for a Teen.

Here are the details for this card:
The card base is made from an 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Coastal Cabana scored at 4 1/4″ . I then added a piece of Pool Party cardstock cut to 4 1/8″x5 3/8″ with a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut to 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″.  This piece of white cardstock has been embossed with the new Spring Flowers Textured Impressions Folder in Occasions catalog.
Behind the Fairy image is a 1 1/4″ strip of striped Coastal Cabana designer paper from the Best Year Ever Designer series paper in the Sale-a-bration catalog.  I added this piece of designer paper on an angle to highlight the stamped image.  The Fairy image is stamped on a 3″ square of Whisper White cardstock with Momento Black ink.  I used the Blendabilities Markers to color in the image.  More specifically – Wild Wasabi Blendabilities were used to color in the grass.  The mushroom was colored with the Neutral tone Blendabilities markers.  The Fairy’s wings were colored with the Coastal Cabana Blendabilities and the Fairie’s dresses were colored with the Wisteria Wonder Blendabilities markers.  This image is layered onto a 3 1/8″ square of wisteria wonder cardstock.  the small Fairy is cutout and attached to the top corner of the card with dimensionals.  I added a piece of crisp cantaloupe thick bakers twine to  add the touch of crisp cantaloupe to the card.

Of course I have to add a little bling.  It certainly would not be a Teen card without bling.  I used a touch of Dazzling Details to paint the wings of the Fairies.

is a great time to stock up on the Blendabilities markers.  For every $50 in product that you purchase, you can choose a free set of Blendabilities markers!

    Creative Blog Hop

    Hi Stampers!

I’m so excited today!  I was asked by my good friend Angela over at Angela’s Ink Link to be a part of this Creative Blog Hop.  It’s a one time post and we can post any project that we would like and then answer some questions below.   I have always admired Angela’s work.  She and I are two of the 5 members of the Stamping New England Design Team.

Today’s project is one of the cards that I made for my recent Trip to Leadership in Orlando.  We had soooo much fun – more of which I will share over the next few days!   I roomed with Angela and another member of the Design Team Jeanne Nielsen and to say we had fun is an understatement!  It was so great to escape cold and snowy New England for a few days in Orlando!

Anyway – on to my card….

Stampin' Up! Butterfly card  I absolutely love the new Butterfly Thinlits dies that are in the Occasions catalog for the spring.  So I wanted to do something with these thinlits.

The colors for this card are Crisp Cantaloupe and Calypso Coral.  The designer paper on the card is  Gold Soiree Designer Paper from the Big Book.  I used it behind the Butterfly and again with a small strip at the bottom of the card.

    So the details:
Card base is a piece of Whisper White cut to 4 1/4″ x 11, scored at  5 1/2″.  The top layer is a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock.  I used my Big shot to cut the medium Butterfly from the cantaloupe layer.

Next I used the Delicate Designs Embossing folder and the Large scallops d100_0458cu2ie to add the little detail at the bottom of the card.
The flowered paper at the bottom is a 1″ piece of Gold Soiree DSP.  There is also a 4″ x 3″ piece of designer paper behind the butterfly.  You will probably notice that the butterfly on this card is actually a little darker.  I wanted the color difference between the card front and the butterfly so the butterfly pops off the card!  So this butterfly is Calypso Coral which coordinates nicely with these colors and the designer paper.  The greeting is stamped with the  A Dozen Thoughts stamp set.  And of course, no card is complete without a little bling.  So I added a few Rhinestone jewels to the center of the butterfly.

That’s it for this card.  I will add my other two cards that I used for swaps later this week.

    So regarding my Design Process:

    1. What are you working on now?

Right now I am working on creating a really cool 3D Valentine’s card for a class that I am holding tomorrow night at my church.   Stay tuned for a picture and details of that card.  I am also working on documenting my cards for my February Design group; Stamping New England.   Check out more information on our Design Team here.

    2. How does your work differ from others in your genre?

My style – how to describe it?  My downline Margaret describes my style as very traditional.  I love using Stampin’ Up!’s Designer papers and the way all the colors coordinate with the inks and cardstocks.  It makes designing projects so much easier.  I love clean lines and layering with some embellishments and bling.  Not over the top with embellishments, but embellishments that enhance the project.

    3. Why do you create what you do?

I love crafting and have always been a crafter, even as a kid.  I started papercrafting in the scrapbooking domain.  After my daughter – now 20 was born, I would come home at night after a stressful day at work and scrap all of my pictures.  When I decided to stay home with my kids a couple of years later, my friend took me to a Stampin’ Up! party and introduced me to the larger world of paper crafting.  That was it!  I found my passion.

    4. How does your creativity work?

I use everyday things around me for inspiration on color combinations or layouts.  My favorite design tool is a sketch.  I select a given Designer paper and then pull out the coordinating colors for that paper.  Then I work off the sketch, looking for an image that is similar in size to the key element on the sketch.  So if I hit a mental block – I will pull out a sketch and some designer paper to get back my creative mojo.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, and be sure to visit my Stamping Friend Toni Tessler at Toni’s Adventure in Stamping next week on February 9th!

    Handmade Dotty Card

Today I decided that I wanted to use the new Sale-a-bration designer paper, Best Year Ever with the coordinating embellishments to make a couple of projects and this handmade Birthday Card.   TBest Day everhis week’s SUO Challenge is a project with Dots so I designed this card around the dots in the Best Day Ever stamp set and the Best Year Ever designer paper and embellishments.

    The Details on this card:
The colors are Coastal Cabana, Hello Honey and Strawberry Slush.  The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of coastal cabana scored at 4 1/4″ and folded in half for the card base.
The whisper white layer (5 1/4″ x 4″) is stamped with the dots stamp in the Best Day Ever Sale-a-bration set using Coastal Cabana ink.

The medallion is made with 4 layers of circles.  The center is stamped with coastal cabana ink and punched out with the 1 3/4″ circle punch.  I stamped the image again with strawberry slush ink and cut out the “made” to make a little banner to add over the coastal cabana “made” to add a pop of color.  This is layered onto a scallop circle punched from strawberry slush cardstock 100_0344using the 2 3/8″ scallop circle punch.  The next two circles were cut using the Circle Framlits from Hello Honey and Coastal Cabana cardstocks.

The banners for the medallion are made by cutting 3 pieces of the pattern designer paper to 1 1/2″ x 4″.  The ends are trimmed to make a banner shape.  These are layered together in a fan pattern.  I added 3 1/2″ pieces of the coordinating ribbon from the Best Year Ever Embellishments on top of the banners.  The medallion was added to the top.

Last but not least, I added a piece of the designer paper to the outside flap of the envelope.

Stay tuned for a couple of other projects made with these same products!

    Product List

    Sheltering Tree Stepped up

Sheltering TreeMy last post was a card that I made for with my Stamper’s Club group using the Sheltering Tree stamp set.  As I was writing up the information for the card, I started to think about how I could Step-up the card with some embellishments and a little scoring to make an embossed card front.

Here are the details on how to make the embossed squares on the card front.
    1.  Start with the cardstock at an angle on your cutter and the end at 1/2″ and score. NOTE:  Make sure that you push your cutting blade to the end of the cutter so you don’t accidently cut instead of score.

    2.  Move the cardstock over 1/2″ and score again.  Repeat across the whole side.

    3.   Rotate and repeat going the opposite way.
To Step-up this card, I added pearl jewels around the scallops on the edge of the window and along the lace.  I aslo added three pearls along the bottom right corner of the card.    So which card do you like best?
