Variations on a Theme

Variation on a themeToday I am sharing a card that one of my downline’s, Margaret made.  She is one of the very talented designers on my team!  I have a great team!

Margaret designed the original silver card with the Pool Party Cardstock, Bermuda Bay layer and the silver snowflakes and silver Foil.

I love this card and the way that she used half of a silver foil snowflake below the embossed snowflake.  Since the Foil Snowflakes from the Year of Cheer suite come in Silver and Gold, I wanted to try this card with the Gold Foil and the Gold Snowflake.
I found 2 color combinations that I liked with the gold.  The first is a Powder Pink cardstock base with a layer of Cherry Cobbler cardstock.  The second is a Sweet Sugarplum cardstock base with a Cherry Cobbler cardstock layer.

Here are the details on this card.  The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of cardstock scored at 4 1/4″ and folded in half to form the card base.  The second layer is 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ piece of coordinating color of cardstock.  Next is a 4″ x 2 1/2″ piece of the Merry Music Designer Series Paper from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog. Next is a 4″ x 2 1/2″ piece of Silver Foil that is embossed with the Winter Wonder textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  A Foil Snowflake is cut in half and matched up with the embossed snowflake.  Then I used a piece of Pool Party ribbon for the Silver card and a piece of the Gold Metallic edged ribbon for the Gold versions.

The Message is stamped from the Snowflake Sentiment stamp set and cut with the stitched Circles framelits.  I cut two swirls from the Swirly Snowflake Thinlits dies in silver and gold.

That’s it!  A striking card that is now too difficult.

So which color combination do you like best?

Happy Stamping!

Sneak Peak and Holiday Shopping Update

So one of the advantages of being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator is that we get to play with new stamp sets and Designer papers early!  This Petal Palette stamp set  will be in upcoming the Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalog in January.

Here are the details on these cards.

The card on the left uses Petal Passion Suite of products by Stampin’ Up!. This suite includes the Petal Palette stamp and thinlits (Petal Passion bundle)  with the Petal Passion DSP.  The card base is a piece of Pear Pizazz cardstock.  The Petal Passion Designer Series paper is black and white.  So I decided to add a little color to it by stamping the leaf from the Petal Palette stamp set with Pear Pizazz ink.  I stamped the Rose image from this stamp set twice on Whisper White cardstock.  The images are colored with the new Stampin’ Up! Blends markers.  I then added a little Wink of Stella to the Flowers to give them a nice sheen.
The flowers are cut with the coordinating Petals & More thinlits.  Each flower is mounted on a piece of Whisper White cardstock that has been embossed with the Petal Pair Textured Embossing Folder.  This piece is mounted on a piece of Berry Burst cardstock.  I used a piece of Berry Burst Metallic Edge ribbon and added one of the Petal Passion embellishments hanging from the ribbon.

The second card is the same stamp and color scheme.  This card base is Marina Mist cardstock layered with a piece of the Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Series paper.  This card has a piece of Berry Burst cardstock on the left side that has been embossed with the 2nd of the Petal Pair Textured Embossing folders.

So which card do you like best?  I am partial to the Marina Mist Card.

Are you on my Newsletter list?  Each Wednesday before Christmas I sent out a newsletter with a new Christmas idea.  I send out approximately one newsletter a week and I do not share my mailing list with anyone!   You can signup HERE.

Merry Little Christmas Handmade Card

Today I am sharing one of the handmade Christmas card that I made using the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper and the Merry Little Labels Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up! for a swap in Salt Lake City at OnStage.  This handmade Christmas card is a center step fold card.

I love the elegant look of this Black and White Card for Christmas. This is most definitely a step out of the box for me with a handmade Christmas Card!

Here are the details of this card!
Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to 4 1/4″ x 11″.
See below for a diagram for cutting the sides and the steps on the card.

Warning – I had to cut this pattern a couple of times to get it right.  Then I would mark a piece and keep it as a pattern for the future!

1.  Score the cardstock at 4 1/2" and at 10".
2.  At the 9" mark - score in on each side 1".  To do this you will want to use the clear ruler that is on the top of your paper cutter.  Score into 1" and then raise the ruler and move the scoring blade to the 3 1/4" mark on the top ruler. Score to the other edge.
3.  Next at the 5 1/2" mark, raise the ruler and move your scoring blade in to the 1" mark on the top clear ruler and score to the 3 1/4" mark.
4.  Next Turn your cardstock and line up the side at the 1" mark.  Raise the clear ruler and cut in 1" from the edge of the score line at the 4 1/2" mark to the edge of the score line at the 10" mark.  Flip the cardstock and repeat on the other side.
Fold along the score lines.  You finished piece will look like this:

Now the fun part!  Time to decorate!

The two Side panels are 1" x 4 1/2".  So I cut a layer of Basic Black cardstock to 7/8" x 4 3/8" and a piece of the the Merry Little Christmas DSP to 3/4" x 4 1/4".

The Center panel is 2 1/4" x 4 1/2".  The Basic Black layer is 2 1/8" x 4 3/8" and the DSP is 2" x 4 1/4".  The front is 1" x 4 1/4".  The Basic Black layer is 7/8" x 4 1/8" with a 4" x 3/4" layer of Whisper White and a 5/8" x 3 7/8" piece of Black DSP.

The "Let it Snow" is stamped with the Merry Little Labels stamp set.  I used Basic Black Archival ink on Whisper White cardstock.  This is layered onto a label cut using the punch on a piece of Basic Black Cardstock.  This label is layered on a piece of the Silver Glimmer paper cut from a medium die using the Lots of Label Framelits.

Last I cut the trees from Silver Glimmer paper using the Card Front Builder dies.  The deer is cut from a scrap of soft suede cardstock.

That's it!  A stunning WOW handmade Christmas Card.   Here are the products that were used to make this card:

Love the At Home with You Stamp set?

Do you love the At Home with You Stamp set??  At Home with You is one of my favorite sets from the new catalog!  There are so many different projects that you can make with this set and the coordinating thinlits!  You can make anything for any season or occasion!  This has to be one of the most versatile stamp sets in the new catalog!

One of the things that I love about this stamp is that you can cut the Door so that it opens and shows the inside of the house!

And Voila!  Check out the inside of this Beach House made with the At Home with You Stamp set!

I do have to warn you that this class is not an easy class.  These are very advanced cards and they do make use of a couple of stamp sets.  You can substitute similar sets for some of the designs.

The 3 primary stamp sets and thinlits used to make these cards are:
  • At Home with You
  • Ready for Christmas
  • Colorful Seasons

You can check out the details of this class HERE.

3D Handmade Christmas Card

Today I am shari3D Handmade Christmas cardng a 3D Handmade Christmas card that I made using the Ready for Christmas Stamp set.  I have to admit that this card does take a little time to make.  But as soon as I saw the Ready for Christmas stamp set – this card was stuck in my head!  LOL.

Here are the details on the card:

The Card base is a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut to 5 1/4″ x 11″.  Score on each side at 3 1/2″.

This card uses two different Stampin’ Up! Designer papers:  The Fresh Florals and the Wood Texture DSP.

I used a piece of 3 7/8″ x 5″ piece of Fresh Fig DSP from the Fresh Florals DSP stack.  Attach this piece to the inside center panel.  Stamp the pictures on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock.  Color in the pictures and cut them out with the coordinating framelits from the Christmas Staircase thinlits.

Fireplace:  Cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock to 2 1/4″ x 2 1/2″.  Use the brick pattern mask from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks.  Lay the brick mask over the Cherry Cobbler cardstock and  use a sponge dauber with Cherry cobbler ink to rub over the mask to make the brick look.  Use the Hearth & Home thinlits to cut a mantle from the Wood Texture DSP.  Cut out the separate piece to use as the mantle on the fireplace.  Trim out the window panes and the bottom piece of the window to make the hearth. Line up the brick background on the center of this panel.  Attach the Hearth over the brick background.

Cut out 6 pieces of pine using the framelit from the Christmas Staircase thinlits and Garden green cardstock.  Add to the Fireplace Mantle.  Stamp 3 stockings with Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green ink.  Cut out with framelits.  Cut 3 small bows from a scrap of Cherry Cobbler.  Attach the stockings to the mantle with glue dots.

Next we are going to work on the staircase side of the card on the left.  Cut 2 staircases from the Wood Texture DSP.
3D Handmade Christmas card
Stamp 2 pine swags with Garden Green ink on a piece of Garden Green cardstock.  Cut out with the coordinating thinlits from the Christmas Staircase thinlits set. NOTE:  you need to the two swags to line up – so you will flip one over and carefully fill in the swag with the pine stamp.    Stamp the little dog with Basic Black archival ink on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and color as desired.  Also stamp the cookies from Santa.  Stamp the side table with Black ink on a scrap of Basic Black cardstock.  Cut out all of these items with the coordinating Christmas Staircase thinlits.  Attach one set of stairs to the front of the side panel.  Cut down the fold line to the top of the top step and follow the line of the stair to cut a diagonal line.  The white of the card base will be hidden behind the stairs.  Line up the second staircase and attach to the back/inside of the card.  Attach the table to the bottom of the stairs.  Attach cookies for Santa on the table top and attach the dog next to the table.  Attach one swag on th3D Handmade Christmas Carde outside of the staircase.  Attach the reverse swag to the inside of the staircase.

Last is the right side of this card.  Attach a 3 7/8″ x 5″ piece of the Powder Pink Fresh Florals DSP to the outside of the right panel.  Stamp the Christmas tree with Garden Green ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Stamp 8 ornaments.  Cut out the ornaments and the tree with the thinlits.  I used a scrap of Silver Glimmer paper to cut a star for the top of the tree.  I cut out 4 small squares of Quilted Christmas DSP to make the presents.  Use the thinlits to cut out matching bows for the presents.  Attach the tree to the right panel of the card using dimensionals.  Cut along the edge of the tree diagonally up the card along the tree edge.  Add the ornaments and star to the tree.  Add the presents below the tree.

Stamp the sentiment “a Wish for Everything Merry” with Cherry Cobbler ink on the inside of the right panel.  That’s it!

Here are the items that were used to make this card:

Half Full meets Christmas cards

Today I am sharing a card that one of my team members, Margaret made using the Stampin’ Up! Half Full stamp set.  I love this non-Christmas Christmas card!  I shared this card with my Stamp Club members last week and they also loved the card!

Here are the details of this card.  The card base is a piece of 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ basic black cardstock scored at 4 1/4″ and folded in half.  The next layer is a        5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Old Olive Cardstock that is stamped with the grouping of wine glasses and old olive ink.  I love this cute little background.

Next is a layer of the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series paper.  The DSP is cut to 2 1/2″ x
3 1/2″ and layered onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock that is cut to  2 5/8″ x 3 5/8″.

Next the Wine Bottle is stamped on a piece of whisper white cardstock and also on a Window Sheet.  You will need to use a Black Staz-on ink pad for the ink to dry on the window sheet.  Cut out each wine bottle.   Stamp the label for the wine bottle on a scrap of White.  Cut this out and color it with a dab of so Saffron ink.  Place over the bottle on the window sheet.  Layer label on top of plastic.  Stamp just the top of the Wine Bottle on a scrap of Old Olive cardstock.  Cut this out and attach to the top of the wine bottle.

Next stamp the Wine Glass on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Cut out.  Color the wine with a dab of so saffron ink and an aqua painter.

Next stamp the sentiments that you want to use on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Cut around these in a rectangle (approximately 3/4″ x 2 1/2″)  Layer onto a slightly larger piece of Basic Black cardstock.  Attach to the front of the card.

Merry Patterns Christmas Stamp set

Today I am sharing a few cards that I made with the new Merry Patterns Stamp set from Stampin’ Up!  This set is a limited addition and is FREE until  October 31st with a $300 Hostess order.  So gather your friends and let’s plan a night of Stampin’ Fun!

These are four cards that were inspired from the Stampin’ Up! website using the Merry Patterns stamp set and some of the Holiday paper.  I did modify them slightly.

This first card was made using the Christmas Around the World Designer series paper.  “Tis the Season” is embossed with gold embossing powder.  I embossed the card base with the Oh My Stars Embossing Folder.

This second card is made with the Reindeer Stamp using Soft Suede ink on a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.  The background paper is from the Wood Textures DSP pack.  i used a piece of the Burlap ribbon tied with a small piece of the Copper Trim.  The card base is a piece of Garden Green cardstock.

The third card is made using Real Red cardstock for the base.  I made the background on the Real Red cardstock by Stamping the Word Season in a line across the card base.   What I really like about this stamp set is the versatility of this stamp set.  The candles are a two part stamp.  That means that the outline of the candles and the patterns of the candles are two separate stamps.  This lets you use two different colors of ink to stamp the candles.  The banner in the background is cut from a piece of the Merry Music DSP.

The fourth card is also made with the candles but using the Old Olive color scheme from the Color Theory DSP stack.
The pieces under the “Merry Christmas” banner is one of the foil snowflakes from the Holiday catalog that I cut up.

I hope you have enjoyed this selection of cards today using the Merry Patterns stamp set.

Another Carols of Christmas Card

Carols of Christmas stamp setToday I am sharing another card made with the new Stampin’ Up! Carols of Christmas stamp set.  This set will be in the upcoming Stampin ‘ Up! Holiday Catalog but is available to order early – this month!

I love this set!!  It is so versatile and has a large variety of framelits to cut out a lot of Holiday images!

So the details on this card.  The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock  scored at 4 1/4″ and folded in half to make the card base.  The next layer is a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Cucumber Crush cardstock.  Then a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Whisper White cardstock.  The corner framelits with the poinsettias is used on the 4 corners.

Next Stamp 4 Poinsettias with Cherry Cobbler ink and cut them out.  You can line them up the the larger poinsettia in the middle of the die or cut them out by hand.  These are layered on top of the center corner poinsettia.  And of course I added Rhinestone Jewels to add a little bling to the poinsettias!  Every card needs a little bling.

Last Stamp the sentiment “Deck the Halls” with Cherry Cobbler ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Cut this piece out with the large scalloped oval from Stampin’ Up!’s Layering Ovals framelits.  Cut a second larger oval from the Cucumber Crush cardstock.  Attach the sentiment to the card with dimensionals.  Stamp a Holly leaf using Cucumber Crush ink for the leaves and Cherry Cobbler ink for the berries.  Cut out with the Holly die.  Attach next to the sentiment with a glue dot!

This is one of 4 Cards that my Stamp Club members made yesterday at our monthly Stamp Club meeting.  Want card ideas in your inbox each month?  Join my stamp club and receive exclusive ideas in your email each month!  You can check out more information on my Stamp Club here.
