Crosses of Hope Handmade Card & Class

Crosses of Hope handmade cardToday I am sharing a card that one of my team members, Margaret Galvez made that I call the Crosses of Hope Handmade card.  I absolutely love the Stampin’ Up! Hold on to Hope stamp set and Crosses of Hope Framelits.  This is such a beautiful set with fantastic dies to compliment the stamp set.

These crosses are perfect to make Easter cards, Sympathy cards, Confirmation or Baptism cards.  I love the detail of the dies.

So one of my Team Members on the Stamping New England Team designed 5 beautiful cards using the Sale-a-bration DSP – Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper and this stamp bundle.  This DSP  has several sheets of embossed lilies and other spring flowers that are very commonly used for Easter.  The designs on the paper are embossed with Silver, Gold and Copper.

I have pulled together a PDF with the details for making these gorgeous cards!

This beautiful card uses Blushing Bride and Rich Razzleberry cardstock with Cardstock Vellum.  The Narrow Cross and Wide Cross are cut from Copper Foil Cardstock and layered together.  Both the Vellum and Blushing Bride cardstock base are embossed with the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder.   I love the look of embossed vellum as the image turns a little white around the embossed image.Springtime Foil Specialty Designer Series Paper

The embossed vellum is layered onto a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock and then on a slightly larger piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock.  A White Organza ribbon is wrapped around this layer.  Next a lily and leaf are cut from the Springtime Foil Specialty Designer paper that is one of the new Sale-a-bration items.  This paper is absolutely gorgeous!

So are you interested in the detailed instructions for these these beautiful cards?  I have assembled a PDF with full color directions to make 5 beautiful cards using the Hold on to Hope bundle with the Springtime Foils Specialty Designer paper.  These cards also use Gold and Copper Foil.  You can purchase the full color instructions for just $9.95 through Paypal.

Thank you for stopping by today and checking out my cards.  These cards will be featured at my Class this Friday.  10am to 3pm during the day or 7pm for nighttime.

Sale-a-bration Blossoming Basket

Today I am sharing a card that I made with the new stamp set available during Sale-a-bration Blossoming Basket by Stampin’ Up!

If you have been to my blog before, you know that I absolutely love flowers!  And I also love the new Blends markers.  So what a perfect way to combine two of my favorite things – flowers and Blends markers.

First I just had to play with the Blossoming Basket stamp and the Blends together.  So I stamped the Basket on a piece of Watercolor paper with Momento Black Ink.  I used the Blends Markers to color in the flowers.

My tip for using Blends (alcohol markers) is to choose the area of image where you want to accent the light.  Each Blends marker set comes with a light and dark marker.  So for example, the Crumb Cake has a light marker and a darker marker.  So I chose the middle left area of the basket as the area where the light will shine – so will be lighter.  I used the light Crumb Cake marker on this section and outlined the edge of the basket with the dark Crumb Cake Blends Marker.  Then I use the lighter Crumb Cake marker over the darker color and pull or blend the darker and lighter colors together.

I have found the most important thing for coloring flowers with the Blends Markers  is to remember that no two flowers are the same.  When you look at a flower petal, there is a natural variation of color between petals – so don’t stress about coloring flowers.  For the Pink rose in the middle, I highlights the edge of the petals with the darker color Pink Pirouette marker and then blended with the lighter color Pink Pirouette to fill in the color on the petal.  For the Coral petals – I used the darker Daffodil Delight marker as my lighter color and the light Calypso Coral marker as my darker color.  I love the combination of color that I got with the two different colors together.   The Calypso Coral together was too dark for me.  So blending the two colors gave me a shade that was a little lighter than Calypso Coral

So my advice to you when using blends is to experiment and mix colors.   After I finished coloring the basket, I did fussy cut out the image.  Then the fun.  What to use to make a card from the basket?  I was a little stumped but then thought about the Fabulous Foil Designer acetate.  Of course I have some and haven’t used it in a while.

The card base is a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut to 5 1/2″ x  8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″.  Next is a layer of  Blushing Bride cardstock cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and piece of the Gold Fabulous Foil Designer acetate cut to the same size.  So the trick to using either vellum or acetate is hiding the adhesive.  So I added the adhesive behind the main image – square with the basket.

Next I cut a 3″ square of Whisper White cardstock.  I embossed the Whisper White with the Garden Trellis Embossing Folder.   This is layered on a Scalloped square of Champagne Foil (which did carry over from the Holiday catalog) cut using the Layering Square thinlits.  Then I attached the flower basket with dimensionals and attached this to the middle of the card.  Last I used a 1″ x 3″ piece of Vellum and stamped “Happy Easter” from the Hold onto Hope stamp set and embossed the words with Gold Embossing Powder.  Last I made a bow from the Powder Pink Shimmer Ribbon.

Here are the supplies that I used for this project:

Magical Day Class

Magical DayToday I am featuring a set of  kids cards that would make a Magical Day birthday party for kids.  These cards are stunning and feature a variety of techniques.  They feature the Magical Day stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalog.

Here is a sneak peak of one of the cards.  This card features the Wizard and the Unicorn from the Magical Day stamp set.

The Clouds in the background of this card are made with the cloud stencil from the Pattern Party decorative masks and the Shimmer White Embossing Paste on a piece of Soft Sky Cardstock.

The Wizard and the Unicorn are stamped on Whisper White cardstock and colored with markers.
They are then cut out using the coordinating framelit dies.

The sentiment “Hope Your Day is Magical” is stamped with Lemon Lime Twist Ink and cut out using the Layering Oval Framelits.  This is layered on Scalloped Oval cut from the Lemon Lime Twist Glimmer paper that coordinates with the Myths & Magical Designer paper.

The Wizard card is just one of 5 projects that is available with this set.  Other cards in this set include a shaker card featuring mermaids, a second is a quilt card featuring a mermaid.  There is a cute card with a dragon attacking a castle.  Another card with a wizzard and unicorns.  The last is a Z Fold Card decorated as a Castle!  This card would be great as a centerpiece for a Kids Birthday Party.

I will be teaching a class making these 5 cards on Friday the 23rd at my Creative Playground in Methuen, Massachusetts.  Not in MA –  I am also assembling instructions and will have the PDF available for sale soon.

Fast Fuse Sale – Valentines Day Frame

Starting tomorrow February 8th there is a FLAsH sale on Stampin’ Up’s Fast Fuse.  But this special is only until Feb. 11th and while supplies last.  if you remember last fall, supplies ran out very quickly!

Wouldn’t it be great to receive this beautiful Valentines Day frame from someone special?  A perfect Valentines gift for that perfect someone!

This is a very quick and easy Valentines project to make.

1.  Purchase a frame at any pharmacy or craft store.
2.  Cut a piece of the Painted with Love Designer Series paper to the size of the frame opening for the background piece.  I usually use the background cardboard as a template for the size to cut.
3.  Stamp the desired sentiment from the Sure do Love You stamp set on Powder Pink Cardstock.  Cut out with the corresponding heart die.  Also cut a heart from a piece of Gold Foil.
4.  Select a corresponding piece of Designer paper from the Painted with Love DSP that you like layered with your background.  Cut 1″ smaller than the background piece on each side.
5.  Center onto background piece.
6.  Attach Stamped and Gold Heart with stamping dimensionals.
7.  Tie a bow with the Tinsel Trim and attach to the frame as desired.
8.  Insert picture into the frame.  NOTE:  Depending upon the depth of the frame and your hearts with the dimensionals, you may want to leave the glass off the frame.

That’s it!  A quick and easy Valentines gift that is sure to please your special someone!

Painted with Love Birthday Card

Painted with Love Birthday cardToday I am sharing another card made with the Painted with Love Designer paper from Stampin’ Up! that was designed by my very talented downline friend Margaret.

The difference is that this card is a Birthday Card and not a Valentines Card.  Another great way to use this paper.  It is not for just Valentines!

So here are the details on this card!

the Card base is a piece of Whisper White Cardstock cut to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″.  Next is a layer of Powder Pink cardstock (one of the in colors) cut to 5 1/4″ x 4″.  Next is a layer of Rich Razzleberry cardstock which is cut to 3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″.

Next are 4 pieces of the Painted with Love Designer Paper cut to 1 3/4″ x 2 3/8″ layered onto the 3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″ piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock and layered onto the powder pink layer.  There is a strip of the gold vinyl painted love stickers along the bottom of the cardstock.

The centerpiece of this beautiful card is the birthday greeting.  The greeting is stamped with Rich Razzleberry ink on a piece of whisper white cardstock using the Picture Perfect stamp set. There is a round painted with Love vinyl sticker around the birthday sentiment.  This piece has been cut using a scalloped circle from the Layering circle framelits set.  This is layered onto a slightly larger circle cut from a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock    And then this is layered onto a third larger circle cut from powder pink cardstock.  Around the edge of this focal point is wrapped a piece of the Pink tinsel trim that coordinates with the Painted with Love Designer paper.

The centerpiece is then layered onto the front of the card.  Stamp and cut out a small heart from the Sure Do Love you stamp set.  Place on the side of the centerpiece.

Here are the products that were used for this card!

Painted with Love Valentines card Ideas

Today I am sharing examples of some Valentines card ideas that my friend Margaret and I designed using the Painted with Painted with Love Valentines card ideasLove Designer paper from Stampin’ Up! for our January Crafting event.  Our crafting event on Saturday featured the Painted with Love Designer Series paper and the Sure Do Love you Stamp set from Stampin’ Up!.

I love the look of this paper with the gold embossing and the beautiful colors.  What a great combination of colors!!

These cards use the Stampin’ Up! Painted with Love Designer series paper, the Sure Do Love you stamp set and the  Painted Love Gold Vinyl Stickers.

I love the Painted Love Gold Vinyl Stickers and have been using them a lot with the Painted with Love Desinger paper.  They are great for adding a little extra detail to a card front or that added touch to the inside of a card or an envelope.

The “Love” is one of the stickers and I cut 3 hearts from a strip of hearts below the love.

Also – notice the detail below the bow – this is one of the rows of stickers.

A very quick and easy way to spruce up your cards!

Happy Stamping!

Variations on a Theme

Variation on a themeToday I am sharing a card that one of my downline’s, Margaret made.  She is one of the very talented designers on my team!  I have a great team!

Margaret designed the original silver card with the Pool Party Cardstock, Bermuda Bay layer and the silver snowflakes and silver Foil.

I love this card and the way that she used half of a silver foil snowflake below the embossed snowflake.  Since the Foil Snowflakes from the Year of Cheer suite come in Silver and Gold, I wanted to try this card with the Gold Foil and the Gold Snowflake.
I found 2 color combinations that I liked with the gold.  The first is a Powder Pink cardstock base with a layer of Cherry Cobbler cardstock.  The second is a Sweet Sugarplum cardstock base with a Cherry Cobbler cardstock layer.

Here are the details on this card.  The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of cardstock scored at 4 1/4″ and folded in half to form the card base.  The second layer is 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ piece of coordinating color of cardstock.  Next is a 4″ x 2 1/2″ piece of the Merry Music Designer Series Paper from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog. Next is a 4″ x 2 1/2″ piece of Silver Foil that is embossed with the Winter Wonder textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  A Foil Snowflake is cut in half and matched up with the embossed snowflake.  Then I used a piece of Pool Party ribbon for the Silver card and a piece of the Gold Metallic edged ribbon for the Gold versions.

The Message is stamped from the Snowflake Sentiment stamp set and cut with the stitched Circles framelits.  I cut two swirls from the Swirly Snowflake Thinlits dies in silver and gold.

That’s it!  A striking card that is now too difficult.

So which color combination do you like best?

Sneak Peak and Holiday Shopping Update

So one of the advantages of being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator is that we get to play with new stamp sets and Designer papers early!  This Petal Palette stamp set  will be in upcoming the Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalog in January.

Here are the details on these cards.

The card on the left uses Petal Passion Suite of products by Stampin’ Up!. This suite includes the Petal Palette stamp and thinlits (Petal Passion bundle)  with the Petal Passion DSP.  The card base is a piece of Pear Pizazz cardstock.  The Petal Passion Designer Series paper is black and white.  So I decided to add a little color to it by stamping the leaf from the Petal Palette stamp set with Pear Pizazz ink.  I stamped the Rose image from this stamp set twice on Whisper White cardstock.  The images are colored with the new Stampin’ Up! Blends markers.  I then added a little Wink of Stella to the Flowers to give them a nice sheen.
The flowers are cut with the coordinating Petals & More thinlits.  Each flower is mounted on a piece of Whisper White cardstock that has been embossed with the Petal Pair Textured Embossing Folder.  This piece is mounted on a piece of Berry Burst cardstock.  I used a piece of Berry Burst Metallic Edge ribbon and added one of the Petal Passion embellishments hanging from the ribbon.

The second card is the same stamp and color scheme.  This card base is Marina Mist cardstock layered with a piece of the Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Series paper.  This card has a piece of Berry Burst cardstock on the left side that has been embossed with the 2nd of the Petal Pair Textured Embossing folders.

So which card do you like best?  I am partial to the Marina Mist Card.

Merry Little Christmas Handmade Card

Today I am sharing one of the handmade Christmas card that I made using the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper and the Merry Little Labels Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up! for a swap in Salt Lake City at OnStage.  This handmade Christmas card is a center step fold card.

I love the elegant look of this Black and White Card for Christmas. This is most definitely a step out of the box for me with a handmade Christmas Card!

Here are the details of this card!
Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to 4 1/4″ x 11″.
See below for a diagram for cutting the sides and the steps on the card.

Warning – I had to cut this pattern a couple of times to get it right.  Then I would mark a piece and keep it as a pattern for the future!

1.  Score the cardstock at 4 1/2" and at 10".
2.  At the 9" mark - score in on each side 1".  To do this you will want to use the clear ruler that is on the top of your paper cutter.  Score into 1" and then raise the ruler and move the scoring blade to the 3 1/4" mark on the top ruler. Score to the other edge.
3.  Next at the 5 1/2" mark, raise the ruler and move your scoring blade in to the 1" mark on the top clear ruler and score to the 3 1/4" mark.
4.  Next Turn your cardstock and line up the side at the 1" mark.  Raise the clear ruler and cut in 1" from the edge of the score line at the 4 1/2" mark to the edge of the score line at the 10" mark.  Flip the cardstock and repeat on the other side.
Fold along the score lines.  You finished piece will look like this:

Now the fun part!  Time to decorate!

The two Side panels are 1" x 4 1/2".  So I cut a layer of Basic Black cardstock to 7/8" x 4 3/8" and a piece of the the Merry Little Christmas DSP to 3/4" x 4 1/4".

The Center panel is 2 1/4" x 4 1/2".  The Basic Black layer is 2 1/8" x 4 3/8" and the DSP is 2" x 4 1/4".  The front is 1" x 4 1/4".  The Basic Black layer is 7/8" x 4 1/8" with a 4" x 3/4" layer of Whisper White and a 5/8" x 3 7/8" piece of Black DSP.

The "Let it Snow" is stamped with the Merry Little Labels stamp set.  I used Basic Black Archival ink on Whisper White cardstock.  This is layered onto a label cut using the punch on a piece of Basic Black Cardstock.  This label is layered on a piece of the Silver Glimmer paper cut from a medium die using the Lots of Label Framelits.

Last I cut the trees from Silver Glimmer paper using the Card Front Builder dies.  The deer is cut from a scrap of soft suede cardstock.

That's it!  A stunning WOW handmade Christmas Card.   Here are the products that were used to make this card:

3D Handmade Christmas Card

Today I am shari3D Handmade Christmas cardng a 3D Handmade Christmas card that I made using the Ready for Christmas Stamp set.  I have to admit that this card does take a little time to make.  But as soon as I saw the Ready for Christmas stamp set – this card was stuck in my head!  LOL.

Here are the details on the card:

The Card base is a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut to 5 1/4″ x 11″.  Score on each side at 3 1/2″.

This card uses two different Stampin’ Up! Designer papers:  The Fresh Florals and the Wood Texture DSP.

I used a piece of 3 7/8″ x 5″ piece of Fresh Fig DSP from the Fresh Florals DSP stack.  Attach this piece to the inside center panel.  Stamp the pictures on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock.  Color in the pictures and cut them out with the coordinating framelits from the Christmas Staircase thinlits.

Fireplace:  Cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock to 2 1/4″ x 2 1/2″.  Use the brick pattern mask from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks.  Lay the brick mask over the Cherry Cobbler cardstock and  use a sponge dauber with Cherry cobbler ink to rub over the mask to make the brick look.  Use the Hearth & Home thinlits to cut a mantle from the Wood Texture DSP.  Cut out the separate piece to use as the mantle on the fireplace.  Trim out the window panes and the bottom piece of the window to make the hearth. Line up the brick background on the center of this panel.  Attach the Hearth over the brick background.

Cut out 6 pieces of pine using the framelit from the Christmas Staircase thinlits and Garden green cardstock.  Add to the Fireplace Mantle.  Stamp 3 stockings with Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green ink.  Cut out with framelits.  Cut 3 small bows from a scrap of Cherry Cobbler.  Attach the stockings to the mantle with glue dots.

Next we are going to work on the staircase side of the card on the left.  Cut 2 staircases from the Wood Texture DSP.
3D Handmade Christmas card
Stamp 2 pine swags with Garden Green ink on a piece of Garden Green cardstock.  Cut out with the coordinating thinlits from the Christmas Staircase thinlits set. NOTE:  you need to the two swags to line up – so you will flip one over and carefully fill in the swag with the pine stamp.    Stamp the little dog with Basic Black archival ink on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and color as desired.  Also stamp the cookies from Santa.  Stamp the side table with Black ink on a scrap of Basic Black cardstock.  Cut out all of these items with the coordinating Christmas Staircase thinlits.  Attach one set of stairs to the front of the side panel.  Cut down the fold line to the top of the top step and follow the line of the stair to cut a diagonal line.  The white of the card base will be hidden behind the stairs.  Line up the second staircase and attach to the back/inside of the card.  Attach the table to the bottom of the stairs.  Attach cookies for Santa on the table top and attach the dog next to the table.  Attach one swag on th3D Handmade Christmas Carde outside of the staircase.  Attach the reverse swag to the inside of the staircase.

Last is the right side of this card.  Attach a 3 7/8″ x 5″ piece of the Powder Pink Fresh Florals DSP to the outside of the right panel.  Stamp the Christmas tree with Garden Green ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Stamp 8 ornaments.  Cut out the ornaments and the tree with the thinlits.  I used a scrap of Silver Glimmer paper to cut a star for the top of the tree.  I cut out 4 small squares of Quilted Christmas DSP to make the presents.  Use the thinlits to cut out matching bows for the presents.  Attach the tree to the right panel of the card using dimensionals.  Cut along the edge of the tree diagonally up the card along the tree edge.  Add the ornaments and star to the tree.  Add the presents below the tree.

Stamp the sentiment “a Wish for Everything Merry” with Cherry Cobbler ink on the inside of the right panel.  That’s it!
