Black and White Card Swaps

Good Morning, Over the next couple of days I am going to post some of my favorite swaps that I received. I participated in a black and white swap where all cards are made with black and white card stock only. Here is a picture of the card that I made for this swap.  As you know, I love the embossing folders and used   The card below is one that 100_9697my downline Lisa Fuller made for the Black and White swap.  I love the dramatic effect that she created by brayering a little black ink onto the Fancy Fan embossing folder to create the background. This next card was made by Donna Centemore at Butternut Sage Designs.  I love this stamp set as well and the antique look of the set.   100_9710     I also really like this next card.  It was designed by Joszette Elkridge with the Dahlia stamp.  It is hard to see but the Dahlia has a bit of glitter to it!   100_9711and   last but not least is my black and white card.   100_9709 copy               More to come!! signature line-003

Stampin’ Up! Convention Review – Wow Swaps

Ok – I had the best intentions to post as much as possible during convention and just ran out of time.  How do other demos do it?   Convention is such a great experience and such a whirlwind of ideas and time.  There is just not enough time to do everything!  I did upload as much as I could to my Facebook page since I had my IPhone. Anyway – So I would like to post a couple of my favorite swaps that I received. I participated in a 75 card WOW swap.  This was my card for that swap. 100_9469 copy I used the new Magnificent Maple stamp from the upcoming Holiday catalog.  I stamped the leaf with gold ink on cardstock vellum and then embossed it with gold embossing powder.   I then cut the leaf out and attached it to a 2 1/2″ square of birch bark paper that is part of the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit.    I love the new decorative burlap ribbon that is in the Holiday catalog.  All of these new items can be found on pg. 18 of the new Holiday catalog.  Have you received yours yet?  If not, let me know and I will send you one! The card base is a piece of crumb cake cardstock that I cut the long way 4 1/4 x 11.  I cut off 3/4 of an inch along the bottom and used the scallop border trim punch to make a decorative bottom.  Then I used a strip of the new Sweater Weather designer paper along the bottom.  The second layer is a piece of chocolate chip card stock that I embossed with the woodgrain folder. 100_9468closeupTo bring out the look of the woodgrain, I used  just a little white ink on a brayer and brayered very lightly over the embossed image.  Then I finished the card with some linen thread and a wooden button!  I do really love this card! I can’t wait to make the Thankful Tablescape simply created Kit for my thanksgiving table this year!   One of the advantages of going to convention is touring Stampin’ Up!’s headquarters and distribution center!  I have had that privelage before but was able to share it with a couple of first time downline members.  It is like seeing Disney through the eyes of a little kid on their first trip! 100_9546   This picture is the area where Stampin’ Up! sets up the displays that they use for the catalog photography.  This is the scene that was used to photo the table scene in the upcoming Holiday catalog for Thanksgiving dinner!  this uses the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit.  You can see that in this display they used the birch bark to wrap a candle base on the table.   100_9509             These next two pictures show the distribution center for all of the orders that we all place!!  It was fun to watch orders being filled and meet some of the people that keep our businesses running!   100_9508               Stay tuned for more pictures over the next couple of days! signature line-003

Stampin’ Up! Convention Day 1

Hello from Sunny Salt Lake City Utah! a Beautiful day here yesterday and today. Yesterday daytime was some free time before convention began so several of us spent some time assembling swaps. I don’t know why I just can’t get things done until the last minute! After we finished swaps yesterday a couple of us took a nice site seeing walk around Salt Lake. The architecture on some of the old buildings here is spectacular! And – the mountains are beautiful! Salt Lake city is on a flat area in between several sets of mountains. So matter which way you turn, you see mountains along the edge of the city. 100_9484Today started with a trip out to the office in Riverton. This is the place where all of your orders are processed. This building was built about 6 to 7 years ago and is beautiful inside.   100_9473       This is a picture of the entrance with all the banners displayed in the lobby. This lobby looks down onto a beautiful waterfall with an open area and tables for employees. what a fantastic lunch room!   100_9474 Here is a picture of me and my team in front of the building in front of the infamous SU rock! From left to right: Margaret Galvez, Nancy Flanagan, me – yours truly, Kate Morin, Lisa Fuller & Jeanne Neilsen.     100_9491         I will try to post more as convention goes on! It is very busy!

Swaps and a Wedding

Well I am continuing to plug away on my swaps and on the wedding that I am working on.  I have to say that since both involve heat embossing, I am very glad that the temperature has dropped a bit.  I do  miss the air conditioning in my Tewksbury Playground!! 100_9467 This is the wedding invitation that I am working on for a customer from Etsy.  It is using the Bells  and Boughs stamp set with the Holly leaf from last year’s catalog.  The holly leaf is stamped and embossed in white on cherry cobbler card stock.  It is layered onto metallic gold card stock.  The invitation itself is printed onto meta 100_9467closeup llic white card stock and layered onto another layer of metallic gold.  I then stamped a holly leaf on a scrap of card stock, colored it with ink and then cut it out.  I colored some pearl jewels red with a sharpie and added those to the center of the holly leaf in place of the berries. I used the retired heart border punch to create a little border along the top of the invite.  I added some of the velvet ribbon that we had in last year’s holiday catalog. 100_9465 The gold leaves are embossed on vellum card stock using gold ink and embossing powder.  These are going on my WOW swap for convention.  The gold leaf is one of the new stamps in the upcoming Fall/Holiday catalog. So this is what my table looks like this afternoon with all of the embossing that I am doing.  Stay tuned for a peak at the WOW card that I am making for one of my convention swaps!!   Thanks for checking things out! signature line-red

Swaps and more swaps!!

This week has been very busy making swaps and working on a wedding as well!  I am getting down to the wire with 100_9464 everything for convention!!  I am so excited!  5 Members of my Stampin’ Up! team are going with me to Salt Lake City next week for Stampin’ Up!’s 25th Anniversary Celebration!!   It will be so much fun!! This is a  card that I designed with the Mosaic Madness stamp set and Quatrafancy designer paper.  I actually made this card in two color combinations since my supply of cardstock is more limited on the Cape.  The first sample is using the new Strawberry Slush paper and ink with pink pirouette on top and the mosaic embossing folder.  Remember that the mosaic punch and stamp set come as a bundled pair! 100_9462 The second card is the same layout but using the Crisp Canteloupe color scheme with Calypso Coral as the backing.   I added a little bling to the cards with rhinestone jewels on the mosaics. For the cutout, I used the labels collection framelits.  The trick to this card is to cut out the top layer with a larger framelits and then emboss the top layer with the mosaic embossing folder.  I then cut a smaller piece of white card stock using the smaller label framelit. I used the new Washi tape along the bottom of the card where I layered the mosaic that I stamped and punched.  The strawberry slush card uses the washi tape from the Gingham garden washi tape.  The calypso/canteloupe card uses the Epic Day washi tape. Last but not least, I used the happy birthday stamp from the new hostess set Express Yourself.  I love all the greetings that this set offers. Enjoy! signature line-red

Technostamper Challenge 269

Well things are starting to slow down a little for me, if that can ever happen with my life!  LOL.  My son is off to his new adventures in Colorado starting his new job this week.  We will miss him but am so excited that he gets to start this new chapter in life! So I am down on Cape Cod for the summer (minus a couple of trips back to Tewksbury here and there).  But that doesn’t mean that I  am taking the summer off!  I am soooooo looking forward to going to convention with my stampin’ friends in 3 weeks!  Which means that I better get working on swaps! Today I jumped back into Mary Jo’s blog and the Technostamper challenge. TSSC269 100_9405 copy         I used the new designer paper Gingham Garden and the Flower Shop stamp set with the coordinating punch! I love the bright colors of this paper and the great patterns.  Rather than using a ribbon across the middle of the designer paper, I used some of the new washi tape that coordinates with the paper. The background flowers are stamped in daffodil ink.  the main flower is stamped with melon mambo ink and popped out with dimensionals.  Of course I had to add a little something to the center of the flower, so added a rhinestone pearl.  I wish I had the large pearls with me, but alas I don’t.  I can’t bring everything to my temporary stampin’ studio! The Hello Sweet Friend is from the new Six Sided Sampler Set and I used the hexagon punch to punch out the image. Stay tuned, my next Card Kit is going to be using the Flower Shop stamp set with the coordinating punch! This week’s order code is ZTX476TP.  Enter this code at the bottom of the order screen in the hostess code section! Enjoy your day! signature line-red

Another Chalk Talk sample

Here is another 100_9370 card that I made with the Chalk Talk stamp set.  Don’t forget that this stamp set and the framelits can be bundled together for a discount!! The cardstock on this card is Wisteria Wonder and Pool Party with a layer of the AFternoon Picnic designer paper.  I do love this combination of subtle colors!   The tag is stamped with White Craft ink and embossed with white embossing powder.  I then stamped the tag again using wisteria wonder ink on whisper white card stock and cut out just the center tag. This tag is cut out with the framelits dies and layered onto a piece of Wisteria Wonder chevron ribbon. I added a few pearl jewels to the corners to add a little bling to the card. Enjoy! signature line-red

Chalk Talk Stamp Set

Good Morning! 100_9372 Today I am posting a card that I made with some of the new stamp sets and designer paper from the new catalog!   I love the combination of colors in this card.   This card is made with the Afternoon Picnic designer paper.   The cardstock is Pool Party for the base, with a layer of Wisteria Wonder.  THe tag in the center is So Saffron (my stand-by yellow).   I stamped the tag in Wisteria Wonder ink and cut it out with the Chalk Talk framelits.  The There’s You is stamped in coastal cabana (one of the new in-colors) and punched out with the large oval punch.  Don’t forget that the Chalk Talk stamp set and framelits are a bundled set and there is a discount for ordering the two together (pg. 12).  This is a great versatile set with greetings for any occasion.  Just pair it up with your desired designer paper. Then the corners looked a little bare to me, so I embellished them with the pearl jewels.  You can color the pearls with a sharpie marker – so I made them to  match the so saffron cardstock and added a regular pearl to the center of the Wisteria Wonder tag.  All of this is layered on a piece of the new So Saffron Chevron ribbon! 100_9372_closeup signature line-red   Enjoy this beautiful day!!   Interested in placing an order?  I have an open order that I will be closing tomorrow June 16th.  The hostess code is UCAPRQQP.  Enter this number on the order screen and your order will go into the queue immediately and ship directly to you.  No more waiting for my orders to close and then to ship!!

Quick and Easy Card

Hi all, 100_9381                   This week I made a slew of these cards for my kids to use as thank you notes for their graduation gifts… The best thing about this card is that it is a great way to use up left over pieces of designer paper!!  I used the Oh Hello set (c 130733) and oval collection framelits (129381)  with basic Whisper White card stock (100730).  I cut the oval with the framelits and my new Magnetic Platform on my Big Shot!! I have to say that the Magnetic platform (130658) is my favorite new toy!!  The framelits DO NOT move!! I stamped the arrow from the Oh Hello set in Bermuda Bay and then the Thanks so Much in Island Indigo over the arrow.  I sponged the side of the oval with the bermuda bay to add a little depth to the oval.  Then I layered the oval onto the card with dimensionals! Everyone’s favorite tool – you should all have dimensionals in your stash!!   And an update on my family!  Graduations are over and tennis season is over as well!  John starts his new job on Monday with Dresser-Rand as a project engineer.  So we have been busy packing up things and getting ready to have movers take the furniture that he wants to Colorado.  A great way for me to clean out some our old things!! Tennis season ended on a very positive note for Emily!  She hurt her knee this year and couldn’t finish the season playing singles which is her favorite position.  But she and her doubles partner won the only game in their final match at the State tournament!!  So a great way to end the year!  And she received the sportsmanship award for all of the work that she did for the team when she was benched due to her injury! That’s about it for now!  I am looking forward to spending some time playing with my new stamps and designer papers!   signature line-red

Modern Medley Card

My box of new toys came today!  My first order from the new catalog. I used the Friendship Preserves Stamp set with the Modern Medley Designer paper.  This Designer paper is black and vanilla. I stamped the Hello from Friendship preserves in white ink and embossed it with white embossing powder.  I do wish that we still had satin ribbon.  This card needs a more formal ribbons so I used a piece of the black satin ribbon which I think really adds a nice detail to this card!   100_9368To achieve the “Framed” look, I cut the vanilla background layer a little smaller than the typical second layer on a card.  The vanilla is 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″.   The inside black layer is 3 3/8″ x  4 5/8″ so a 1/2″ layer.   I think this paper is very elegant!   Enjoy!   Marilyn

Father’s Day Card

This week challenge for the Late Night Stamper’s group is a Father’s Day card.  I actually didn’t design this card but it is one of my favorites!!  This card was designed by my downline and friend Michele LaCerda.  Michele is in my downline but is actually the person that taught me to stamp!!  She took me to my first SU party and then I just had sign up!!  I wanted everything and my husband said that I had to find a way to pay for my addiction!  LOL  Then after I joined SU, she decided to signup.  This July is actually her 10th anniversary as a demo!! Anyway – here is the card… 100_9171 copy The card base is going gray with the watch image from the Dapper Dad set stamped to create the background effect.  I love the way she used the bottle cap for the face of the watch.  The face of the watch is stamped in black and mounted onto the bottle cap.  Crystal effects is applied over the stamped image to give it the look of glass. A piece of metallic silver cards tock is embossed for the background. This is my favorite card for Father’s Day that I have seen so far. Great job Michele!  I will have to toot her horn since she doesn’t have a blog!   Enjoy!   signature line-red
