Thinlit Card Dies – 2 Holiday samples

LPHeader_thinlits_Demo_7.19.13   Here are a couple of new cards that I made with the new Thinlit Card Dies.  These new dies are fantastic!  The dies make a flip card a quick piece of work! I made my cards with the Winter Frost designer paper in the Holiday Mini catalog.  The first stamp set is the Jewish Celebrations set that is still available from last year’s Holiday catalog.  I love the colors of blue in this designer paper. 100_9804 The card base is Island Indigo with an accent of silver glitter paper cut with the Labels collection framelits.  The images are stamped with island indigo ink. The inside of the card is layered with more Winter Frost designer paper and a piece of coastal cabana card stock.  The message shalom is stamped and added to the inside of the flip portion of the card. 100_9805     The second card uses the same format with the thinlit die to make the flip card with the same designer paper.  But the stamps are Christmas ornaments from the Christmas Collectables set.   100_9806               100_9807 I love the Winter Frost designer paper with the two sheets of metallic patterned paper.    The Shalom card uses the striped metallic designer paper on the background and going down the fold on the inside of the card.   The Christmas card uses the metallic designer paper with the mosaic pattern on the flip portion of the card.     So which metallic paper do you like better?  Let me know your vote – the metallic strip or the metallic with the mosaic pattern!

Handmade luggage tags

I wanted to show you some handmade luggage tags that I made today for Emily.  I know that there isn’t anything Stampin’ Up! on these other than the card stock.  Emily is leaving for Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT on Sat. 100_9766This morning, I realized  that Emily didn’t have any luggage tags for her new Vera Bradley luggage that she received as a graduation gift from her Aunt.  So I thought, I can make those… I went out to Google and found the logo for the Sacred Heart Pioneers and then added Emily’s dorm information.  I printed this on white card stock and layered this with gray and cherry cobbler which are Sacred Heart’s colors! I finished the luggage tags off with gray and red ribbons. This will be a busy weekend for us and a big change. signature line-003

Another Field Flowers Card

100_9749eGood Morning! Here is another Field Flowers card that I pulled out of my stash for this set.   I actually made this card a couple of years ago, but wanted to show you another Field Flowers card.  This really is a beautiful set and can be used for a variety of things – weddings, thinking of you, sympathy, mother’s day, birthday, etc. The details on this cards: 1.  The card base is marina mist cut in half at 5 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″ to make the card base. 2.  The background is night of navy cardstock cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and embossed with a victorian embossing folder which is no longer available.  If I were making this card today, I would use the beautifully baroque embossing folder. 3.  I added a little dimension to the background of this card by stamping with the En Francais background stamp with marina mist ink stamped off.  I then used the now retired set – Fresh Vintage (a SAB set from two years ago) and very lightly stamped a couple of flower images, stamping off on scrap paper first.  I then very lightly sponged the edges of the white cardstock. 4.  The flower stems are stamped with Always Artichoke ink.  The flowers are stamped with night of navy.  I stamped the background image first on a scrap paper to “stamp Off” and create a lighter image for the background of the stamp.  I then used the detail stamp with night of navy ink over the background image. 5.  This piece is layered onto marina mist card stock.  I scalloped the bottom edge of the card stock using the scallop trim border punch. 6.  Next I stamped the sentiment “with Love” with night of navy ink and punched it out with the oval punch.  This is layered onto a piece of night of navy card stock punched with the oval scallop punch. 7.  Last but not least are the Embellishments.  I used a layer of Victoria Crochet Trim and the pearl jewels to accent the center of the large flower and the scallop on the bottom of the floral layer. I hope you have enjoyed this card sample! signature line-003

Field Flowers with Etcetera Designer paper

Over the next couple of days I am going to share a few cards that I made with Field Flowers stamp set.  Even though this is not a new set – I found myself playing with it yesterday!! cape patio Before we get started with the cards, I thought that I would share a pic of my summer office.  As many of you know, I spend a good bit of my summer in Dennis on Cape Cod.  I know it is a difficult life but someone has to manage the teenage children! Today and yesterday have been perfect days.  The humidity has finally broken and the temps are in the 70’s.  Not too hot, not too cold.  So I have moved my computer outside for today.  It is very pleasant.  I can hear the waves and the kids playing on the beach (also the parking lot, but I am choosing to block that out LOL). 100_9752e   Ok on to some card shares!!  Yesterday I decided to play around with one of my favorite sets Field Flowers.  I saw a card on Ann Schach’s site that I absolutely loved so changed it up a little for what I needed.  Also – I wanted to use one of the new designer papers that I hadn’t opened yet… So I used the Designer paper Etcetera which has the colors Calypso Coral, Old Olive, Pool Party and Very vanilla.  I am really liking the Vintage look to this paper.    One of my customer asked for a Vintage class – I think this might be the designer paper to use!   So the details of these cards: 1.  the Card base is very vanilla with a layer of calypso coral cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″. 2.  I liked the look of the old olive and pool party design as a background piece but then couldn’t decide which coordinating piece I liked better for the side. 3.  On the first card – I used a strip of the calypso coral pattern, making sure that I lined up the victorian pattern in the middle of my strip.  I love the look that these two papers together created and the way the seam of the two papers fell with the stripe in the coral paper.  It looks as if the paper is torn! 100_9750e But then I also like the Vintage look of the vintage newspaper piece.  So I tried a 1 1/4″ strip of this piece with the background.  I liked the two together but didn’t like the seam where the two pieces meet.  So I added a piece of trim that I made using the scallop trim border punch. 4.  The flowers and stems are stamped on a 2″ x 3 1/2″ piece of very vanilla card stock layered onto a piece of Old Olive cardstock.  The stems are stamped using old olive ink. 5.  The flowers are stamped on a scrap of very vanilla card stock with calypso coral ink.  This is a two part stamp – so I stamped the background piece first and stamped off on a scrap paper to make the coral a shade lighter.  Then for the detail of the flower, I used the second detail stamp and stamped with calypso coral at full strength. The flowers are stamped on scraps of very vanilla and cut out.  They are raised with dimensionals to pop off the card!  Of course I then had to enhance the flowers with a few pearls.  And my cards are complete! Perfect for a wedding card or Thinking of You card. So which card do you like best??  Leave me a message. Enjoy your day! signature line-003

Whitewashed Watercolor Technique

  100_9717e

Don’t you just love the look of the whitewashed watercolor?  I think this is my new favorite technique.   The look of watercolored flowers with the contrast of a non-white card stock  is just stunning.   I will be teaching this technique at my August Technique Class on Thursday August 29th at 7pm.

In this class, you will learn how to do this technique and receive an instruction card with complete instructions to do this technique in the future.  You will be provided with all the supplies to make 3 cards with envelopes.

You just need to bring a “class kit” which includes your adhesive of choice and some scissors.

The cost of the class is $17.  You can pre-register here for the class.

Here are a couple of other cards that we will be making in the class.

You can signup for Paper Pumpkin here.   100_9362 After 4 months of Paper Pumpkin, these are the supplies that I have left.  Each kit includes an ink spot and a couple of stamps, precut card stock and embellishments that you need for that month’s project.  A perfect way for a new stampers to build up some supplies without have to have everything to get started!   Here are a couple of the projects from the past few months! 100_9360   This is the Jots & Thoughts notebook which you receive as a thank you gift when you signup.  You also receive an acrylic block which you will use for future projects.       100_9361       This was the project for March.  4 cards with envelopes with all of the supplies.  As you can see, I changed the samples around a little and made them my own by moving elements around.   100_9358   This set of Seriously cards was the project for April.  I love these cards!  Again – I changed the placement of the embellishments around a bit to make each card a little different.   100_9357         The project for May was this very cute little journal.  There were more than enough supplies to put the journal together and add embellishments. These projects are more basic and probably not for the experienced stamper.  But you may know someone that might be interested?  Forward this onto them! I have opened an order with the new Hostess Code feature.  I love this new feature! It is fantastic!  I open an order and you can all place your orders on my website by visiting here. When you are on the item screen, enter this hostess code ES9TE9Q2 on the bottom left of the order screen.   When you make your payment, your order is closed and will go into the queue for picking and shipping which means that you don’t need to wait for a whole order to close to receive your items.  So your items will ship and you will receive them in 7-9 days, many times before the order closes!  So this makes a Mystery Hostess easier also – I can open a hostess code for all the individual orders that I used to just put in and can offer the hostess benefits to a Mystery hostess each month.  So I can share more with you, my customers!

more Chalk Talk Ideas

Morning, Well I have been going through all the swaps that I received from convention and wanted to share a couple of my favorites with you!  Chalk Talk has become one of my favorite sets.  It is funny because when I first looked through the new catalog, Chalk Talk was not high on my list of new sets that I just had to have… But then I played around with it and now really love it!  It is a very versatile set that plays well with any of the designer papers and color schemes!  Here are a couple of swaps that I received that I really like and show the versatility of the set! 100_9727e   This first card was designed by one of my long time Stampin’ Friends, Jeannette Swain.   She and I have been a member of the Sensational SU Swappers group for many years.  That is my favorite group of SU ladies.  They are each so talented! This card is made with the Mosaic Madness designer paper.  The card base is Island Indigo with a layer of Baked Brown Sugar (one of the new in-colors).  She also uses the new Deco Labels Framelits to make the Center piece. Each layer is attached with dimensionals to add depth to the card.  She finished the card off with some Island Indigo baker’s twine and 4 little pearl jewels in the corner of the frame lit.  Great Card Jeannette! 100_9728e This next card was designed by Kristie Bare whom I don’t personally know.  I do love this card and the details that she added to it!  This is truly a WOW card! The card base is basic black cardstock with a layer of Coastal Cabana and a 3rd layer of whisper white.  The white has been embossed with the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder.  The stamped image has been stamped with black Staz-on and cut out with the Chalk Talk framelits.  This was layered onto another piece of basic black card stock.  Kristie used the Coastal Cabana marker and outlined some of the elements of the stamped image so they Pop!.  She punched a flower with coastal cabana cardstock and also embossed this with the perfect polka dot embossing folder.  She used several punches to make a layered piece for the center of the flower.  The 7/8″ scallop circle punch, the 1/2″ circle punch, the flower from the itty bitty punch pack and a small circle.  She used black taffeta ribbon with a scrap of coastal cabana card stock under the stamped image.  And last but not least, she used dazzling details to highlight the center of the flower and the two small flowers on the Chalk Talk image as well as 3 small circles on the bottom right of the card.  Simply Stunning!!   100_9729e   The third Chalk Talk card that I received was from Connie Thompson, another demonstrator that I don’t know personally. I really like the contrast of this card. The card base is basic black with a layer of whisper white.  She added a piece of strawberry slush designer paper and a piece of strawberry slush ribbon.  I love the black and white combination cards with one color thrown in! The Chalk Talk image is stamped with black ink on white cardstock and layered onto a piece of black cardstock to make it Pop.  She added a couple of Pearl Jewels to the side of the stamped image for a little additional detail.  She stamped the “For You” in strawberry slush and layered this onto a circle of black cardstock.  She attached this to the card with dimensionals to add depth!  Great Job!!   Tomorrow with the new catalog, I will showcase in my newsletter a beautiful card that I received using the new Holiday designer paper and snowflake stamp set.   To see this card, you can signup for my newsletter here.   Also – you won’t want to miss my annual weekly Holiday newsletter – the 12 Weeks of Christmas.  This weekly Holiday newsletter showcases a different Holiday idea each week for the 12 weeks before Christmas!   I hope that everyone is enjoying this great weather that we are having!  Finally the humidity has broken here!  I think I will go to the beach this afternoon! signature line-003
