Father’s Day Card

This week challenge for the Late Night Stamper’s group is a Father’s Day card.  I actually didn’t design this card but it is one of my favorites!!  This card was designed by my downline and friend Michele LaCerda.  Michele is in my downline but is actually the person that taught me to stamp!!  She took me to my first SU party and then I just had sign up!!  I wanted everything and my husband said that I had to find a way to pay for my addiction!  LOL  Then after I joined SU, she decided to signup.  This July is actually her 10th anniversary as a demo!! Anyway – here is the card… 100_9171 copy The card base is going gray with the watch image from the Dapper Dad set stamped to create the background effect.  I love the way she used the bottle cap for the face of the watch.  The face of the watch is stamped in black and mounted onto the bottle cap.  Crystal effects is applied over the stamped image to give it the look of glass. A piece of metallic silver cards tock is embossed for the background. This is my favorite card for Father’s Day that I have seen so far. Great job Michele!  I will have to toot her horn since she doesn’t have a blog!   Enjoy!   signature line-red

Update on the SanClemente Family

If you have been following my blog, then you know that I have been really busy with graduations this spring and that I haven’t had the time to play with my new catalog toys as I would have liked…  So instead of cards with new ideas, I’ll post some family shots.  This is what I have been doing with my week off from my business! First, our son John, graduated from Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY on May 11th with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.   Here are a few pictures from the day.  It had been in the 80’s every day the week of their Senior week.  So John had fun playing golf and hanging out with his friends the week.  Of course I pack for 80 degree weather with some shorts, one pair of jeans and a sleeveless dress.  I did throw a sweater in my bag at the last minute.  So we show up on Friday afternoon and the temperature drops and the clouds come in.  Fortunately graduation was inside but the post-graduation reception was outside and was cold and very windy…   DSC_6063eweb       This is John with our daughter Emily (who is graduating from high school 8 days later!) This photo is all of us outside in the cold.  My husband Dave, John, Emily and me. DSC_6070web           After John’s graduation we went back to his Fraternity house and had a great time meeting some of the other parents of his friends.  Then Sunday was the bittersweet process of packing all of John’s things from 4 years of college into our two cars…  How can 4 years have gone so fast??   The next week was all of the Senior activities and award ceremonies for our Daughter Emily’s graduation from the Academy of Notre Dame in Tyngsboro, MA…  This first picture is the award ceremony on Thursday night. awards-NDAweb Emily is a Math and Science girl.  She also has a natural aptitude for computer science and received an award from the Computer Science teacher.   Since NDA is an all girls high school, they wear a white gown with a ring of roses in their hair for graduation rather than the traditional graduation gowns. Egradedweb The girls looked beautiful walking down the front steps of the school in their white gowns!   j&e-web                 Our two grads together!!  Then time to go home and celebrate!!  Fortunately the rain held off during graduation and then the skys opened up when we got home.  So we ended up with a make shift tarp over the deck on the back of the house to accommodate our cookout plans.   The day ended with a great celebration with family and friends!   What an insane week! Needless to say, I slept all day Monday and Tuesday!

Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all of my friends out in Cyber Land!!    This is the Mother’s Day card that I mailed on Thursday to my mother! I am actually celebrating Mother’s Day with my kids and husband in Potsdam, NY  My son graduated from Clarkson University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering!  What a great Mother’s Day present! 100_9272_edited-1 This card is made with one of the new stamps, Wildflower Meadow,  from the upcoming New Catalog!I used the new blue – Pool Party which is a returning in color.  I stamped the image using White ink and embossed it with white Embossing powder.  I then added pearls to the center of the flowers.   I added a couple of small cardstock flowers to the bottom corner.  To make these, use the 7/8″ scallop circle punch to punch a scrap of card stock.   Crumple up the card stock and kneed it to break down the fibers of the paper.  Do this until you can pull the layers of the cardstock apart.  Pinch from the center and layer two pieces together.  Snip off the end of the flower and use crystal effects to attach to the card and hold together!  Voila!   I love these flowers!  Here is the same card but made with crumb cake card stock.  I am not sure which one I like better.  I do know that I like the look of the pearls on the center of the flowers!  The pearls just seem to add that little pizazz to the card! 100_9270_edited-1   THis stamp set will be available in the new catalog in June.  Don’t have a catalog?  Email me and I will send you a catalog! marilyn.sanclemente@comcast.net   Happy Mother’s Day everyone!                 signature line-red

Need a Wedding Card?

Here is another card from my girls weekend on the Cape.  My upline Lynn Theiret made this card.  What a great card for a wedding or another formal occasion! 100_9172 copythe card base is Basic Black.  The white strip embossed with the lattice embossing folder and using the scallop edge border punch to scallop each side. The buttons are 1/4″ circles punched from black card stock.  Add a pearl colored with black sharpie to the center to get the button look. The bow tie is actually made from cardstock. LNS Challenge – Graduation Announcement

This week’s challenge on the Late Night Stamper Group is Celebrate!  Spring is a time for celebrations and I have two reasons to celebrate. Both of my kids are graduating in the next two weeks.  So I am a very proud Mother!! My son John, is graduating from Clarkson University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering on May 11th.  What a great Mother’s Day present.  My lovely daughter is graduating from the Academy of Notre Dame (High school) on Sunday May 19th.  So as you can imagine we are celebrating!! I put together a Graduation announcement/party invite using My Digital Studio.  I love this program! graduation2-001   I downloaded the Embark Graduate MDS Ensemble and used the template for a card that was included in the program.  Then of course I had to customize it to represent the two schools that my kids attend.  Clarkson’s colors are dark green and gold.  Notre Dame  is Navy and Gold.  I then added the logo for each of their schools. The feet are from the “Go Graduate” stamp set. I have to say that I am really happy with the way this card came out! So what is next for me and my family?  I will have an empty nest in the fall.  My daughter will be attending Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT to study Pre-med/Pharmacy.  My son will be starting a job with Dresser-Rand.  As he said – “this college thing pays off”!   Thanks for looking! signature line-red

Card Inspiration

I just love challenges!  This week’s latenight stamper challenge was to use a scrapbook page as inspiration for a card. 100_9187 copy   This is a scrapbook page that I made using MDS as part of a book I printed last year for our trip to Bermuda. Using the layout of the 3 cropped pictures, I cut 3 pieces of designer paper and layered them on white card stock to achieve the same effect as the pictures.     I used Calypso Coral cardstock for the card base and Internatio 100_9188 copy nal Bazar Designer paper for the layers of the card.  I love the bring colors of this designer paper!  The stamp set is one of the new stamp sets that will be out in the new catalog in June!!   Mosaic Madness – I can see that this is going to one of my new favorite sets from the new catalog!  There is a matching punch to punch our the mosaic shape. I added pearls to the center of the mosaic shapes and used the lace tape from the Spring mini for the trim on the bottom.  I added a small pearl to the center of each lace flower. Not a typical card for me but I like it. Sometimes you have to do something a little out o the box!! Thanks for looking!100_9190

Hello my Friend

I had some time to play last night so worked on two challenges from this week. The first is the Technostamper Challenge. As you know ScreenHunter_87 Mar. 27 08.43 Mary Jo posts a sketch and we create cards made with that sketch. Here is the sketch for this week. I used the My Friend stamp set which I have had for a while but don’t see to use too much… 100_9192 copy   I used the Poetry Print designer paper from the current Spring catalog.  I hate to see that paper go!  such pretty colors.  The card base is Melon Mambo with Gumball Green.  I embellished the Hello with the pearl jewels.   A little stamping trick that I love to use.  Want a softer image but only have a darker ink?  Then stamp off on a sheet of scrap paper first. Don’t forget to check out what everyone else has done for this challenge on Mary Jo’s site.  www.technostamper.com signature line-red

Butterflies Galore

Each year I have two retreats for my downline at Cape Cod. One in the spring and one in the fall. Last weekend was our Spring Retreat. 100_9182 copyWe spend the weekend laughing, eating and of course stamping. Everyone brings a shoebox swap to share and other projects that they are working on. Over the next couple of days, I will post the cards and ideas from our event.  This is my favorite card that Connie Branius (my upline) was working on. In fact, I had to CASE it when I got home. (CASE stands for Copy and Steal Everything) This card is made with the Swallowtail stamp.  It is stamped 3 times and then pieces are cutout and layers for a 3D effect.  Connie used Dazzling Details to add glitter to the wings of the card. 100_9183 copy                   This is another card that Connie made over the weekend.  The butterflies are stamped using the flower in the Mixed Bunch stamp set and punched out with  100_9176 copy the coordinating flower stamp.  Cut off two of the petals to make the butterfly!  Stay tuned for more ideas!   signature line-red

Butterflies

100_9166_edited-1

This week  I am doing Late Night Stamper Challenge which is a new challenge for me.  The theme for this week was matched pairs…  which is a stamp set that has a matching punch.  So I used the Papillion Potpourri set with the butterfly punch.   The papers are pretty in pink designer stack and the certainly celery designer stack. The butterflies are stamped with the papillion stamp set and then punched out with the butterfly punch. I added a small flower with a pearl jewel to the center of each butterfly. The white is embossed with the lacy brocade embossing folder. signature line-red

Mixed Bunch Card Sample

100_9122e2This is another one of the cards that I made using the Mixed Bunch stamp set.  I used the stamp set in a little different manner this time. I used the daisy stamp from the set and stamped a white daisy on lucky lime aid, summer starfruit, calypso coral and island indigo cardstocks.  I then embossed these flowers with white embossing powder.   Then I punched out the center of each daisy with the 1 1/4″ square punch.  I layered each piece onto a coordinating piece of cardstock punched with the 1 3/8″ square punch.  This is layered onto a square of whisper white and then a square of summer starfruit. I emobossed a piece  of whisper white cardstock with the petals a plenty embossing folder and added a piece of calypso coral ruffled ribbon.  I stamp the MOM in lucky limeade.  This is layered onto a white card base. Each of the daisies and the flower in the O of the Mom are embellished with a rhinestone jewel.   This card is part of the mixed bunch cards that I designed last week.  The directions for these cards are available for $4.95 via paypal.
