Hang Your Stocking Christmas Card

Today I am sharing one of the cards that I made for the OctoHang Your Stocking Cardber Stamping New England Design Team projects using the new Hang Your Stocking stamp set from Stampin’ Up!.

The card base is a piece of Garden Green cardstock cut to  8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″.  Next is a layer of Crumb Cake cardstock cut to 5 1/4″ x 4″.  Next is a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock cut to 5″ x 3 3/4″  and embossed with the Cable Knit embossing folder

NOTE:  This folder is much thicker that other embossing folders which really adds to the detail of the embossed image.  The best way to bring out the detail of the embossed image is to spritz your cardstock with a little water before embossing it.  Also – due to the thickness of the folder, you only want to use one plate.

The stocking is layered onto a piece of the Warmth & Cheer DSP that is layered on a piece of Real Red cardstock.  The detail of the stocking die is beautiful.  The stocking for this card is cut from a piece of Warmth & Cheer DSP with a detail stocking cut from Real Red over the top.  The stocking is decorated with a piece of Holly that is stamped with Garden Green ink and embellished with Berries that are stamped with Real Red ink and then embossed with the Real Red Glitter Embossing powder.

Flurry of Wishes Christmas Card

Flurry of WishesToday I have a Christmas card that I made using the Stampin’ Up! Flurry of Wishes stamp set from the Holiday catalog.  This card was inspired by the Mojo Monday Tall and Skinny sketch.  A Tall and Skinny card measures 9″ x 4″.

Here are the details for this card:
Cardstocks:  Pool Party makes up the base with a layer of Whisper White and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper.
The Whisper White background is stamped with the large snowflake from the Flurry of Wishes stamp set with Soft sky ink.

The Whisper White piece on top measures 2 1/2″ x 6 7/8″.   The snowflakes are stamped with White Craft ink and then embossed to create the snowflake background for resist.  Next I used a brayer with soft sky ink over the area of the whisper white piece.  I brayered 4 layers of soft sky to get the light blue background.  Next I brayered the piece with 3 layers of Pool Party ink.  Then I used a sponge dauber with Pool Party ink over the snowflakes to fill in the crevices around the embossed images.  This brings out the details of the snowflakes.

This piece is layered on a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper and another piece of Pool Party Cardstock.  I added a piece of the White Glitter Ribbon from the Holiday catalog.  The medium snowflake is stamped with Silver Ink and embossed with Silver Embossing powder.  The center of the Silver snowflake is enhanced with an Iced Rhinestone Embellishment.  Three of the larger Iced Rhinestone Embellishments are added to the top left of the card.

Rhinestone jewels have been added to the center of the snowflakes.

I love the combination of these Blues and Silver with the Snowflake images!

Snowflake Flip Card Detail

Snowflake Flip card

This card uses the Snowflake Card Thinlits dies to create the flip card. Cardstocks:
  • Soft Sky cardstock
  • Lost Lagoon cardstock
  • Whisper White cardstock
  • Dazzling Details Glimmer paper
  • All is Calm Designer paper (now retired)
The Card Details: The soft sky cardstock is cut at 5 3/8" x 8 1/2".  The designer paper is cut at 5 1/4" x 5 1/2" to layer over the fold of the card.  These are lightly adhered together and then run through my die cutting machine with the Snowflake Card Thinlits.

Once I run this through the machine and fold the card, I added a little more snail to the points of the snowflake and around the snowflake to better adhere the designer paper.DSCN0440cu  Once you fold the card, the side with the snowflake with the designer paper is on back.  I carefully cut out the snowflake and cut just a snowflake from whisper white using the thinlit die. Need some help with this technique?  Check out my VIDEO HERE on how to use the thinlit die to cut the card base and a second white snowflake.

I used the medium snowflake die to cut 2 snowflakes from the lost lagoon designer paper and 2 small snowflakes from the Dazzling Details Glimmer paper.  These are layered on each dies of the flip portion of the snowflake.  snowflake flip cardA silver sequin is added to the center of the smaller snowflake from the Frosted Sequins embellishments.

On the inside flap of the card, I used a piece of 2 3/8" x 5 1/4" whisper white cardstock to layer on the inside flap of the card.  I added a small strip of dazzling diamonds glimmer paper along the bottom with a scrap of Lost Lagoon cardstock with a scalloped edge made with the scallop edge punch.  At the top of the piece I added the medium snowflake cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.

The word Sparkle is stamped with Lost Lagoon ink. As an added touch, I did some faux stitching around the large snowflakes.  On the front soft sky side, I used my white pen to stitch around the edge of the snowflake.  When you flip open the card, the inside of the snowflake and the white panel are stitched with my Lost Lagoon marker. Last but not least I added some of the sequins from the Frosted Sequins embellishments randomly on the card.

Quick and Simple Christmas Card – Sneak Peak

Today I have a sneak peak of one of the new Holiday Embellished Ornamentsstamp sets from Stampin’ Up! called Embellished Ornaments.  This new set comes with matching framelits, Delicate Ornaments, to cut out your ornaments and there are some beautiful details to these ornaments!  This Quick and Simple card is inspired by this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge!

So I have been in Buffalo, NY visiting family and friends as well as attending a reunion of my High School Drama Club for the past week.  What a great event!  It was so much fun to catch up with old friends, some of whom I have not seen in 30-35 years!  The best thing about this reunion is that it was people from multiple years, so not just people from my class!.

Sunday I made the trek across NY State on I90 which can be a long drive.  For some reason I90 in Massachusetts, affecChristmas pre-ordertionately knows as the Mass Pike, gets very backed up on Sundays.  So the drive was 10 hours and 525 miles…  I am still recovering!  But this was waiting for me when I got home – My last order and Christmas Pre-order!   Yay!

Now, onto the details for this card:
The card base is Mossy Meadow which is embossed with the Boho Chic embossing folder.
Next is a strip of gold glimmer paper which has been cut to make a banner.

The larger circle is cut from Real Red Cardstock using the Circles framelits.  Just nest two Circle framelits to make the thin circle.  The Designer paper is the Home fmojo-2cuor the Holidays Designer paper which will be in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog, available in September.

I love the detail of these new framelits.  The ornament is cut from a piece of Gold Foil.  I added a few Rhinestone Jewels to the ornament.  Last but not least, a piece of gold Baker’s Twine is threaded through the top of the ornament.

I can’t wait to share more items with you from the New Holiday Catalog!
