Field Flowers with Etcetera Designer paper

Over the next couple of days I am going to share a few cards that I made with Field Flowers stamp set.  Even though this is not a new set – I found myself playing with it yesterday!! cape patio Before we get started with the cards, I thought that I would share a pic of my summer office.  As many of you know, I spend a good bit of my summer in Dennis on Cape Cod.  I know it is a difficult life but someone has to manage the teenage children! Today and yesterday have been perfect days.  The humidity has finally broken and the temps are in the 70’s.  Not too hot, not too cold.  So I have moved my computer outside for today.  It is very pleasant.  I can hear the waves and the kids playing on the beach (also the parking lot, but I am choosing to block that out LOL). 100_9752e   Ok on to some card shares!!  Yesterday I decided to play around with one of my favorite sets Field Flowers.  I saw a card on Ann Schach’s site that I absolutely loved so changed it up a little for what I needed.  Also – I wanted to use one of the new designer papers that I hadn’t opened yet… So I used the Designer paper Etcetera which has the colors Calypso Coral, Old Olive, Pool Party and Very vanilla.  I am really liking the Vintage look to this paper.    One of my customer asked for a Vintage class – I think this might be the designer paper to use!   So the details of these cards: 1.  the Card base is very vanilla with a layer of calypso coral cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″. 2.  I liked the look of the old olive and pool party design as a background piece but then couldn’t decide which coordinating piece I liked better for the side. 3.  On the first card – I used a strip of the calypso coral pattern, making sure that I lined up the victorian pattern in the middle of my strip.  I love the look that these two papers together created and the way the seam of the two papers fell with the stripe in the coral paper.  It looks as if the paper is torn! 100_9750e But then I also like the Vintage look of the vintage newspaper piece.  So I tried a 1 1/4″ strip of this piece with the background.  I liked the two together but didn’t like the seam where the two pieces meet.  So I added a piece of trim that I made using the scallop trim border punch. 4.  The flowers and stems are stamped on a 2″ x 3 1/2″ piece of very vanilla card stock layered onto a piece of Old Olive cardstock.  The stems are stamped using old olive ink. 5.  The flowers are stamped on a scrap of very vanilla card stock with calypso coral ink.  This is a two part stamp – so I stamped the background piece first and stamped off on a scrap paper to make the coral a shade lighter.  Then for the detail of the flower, I used the second detail stamp and stamped with calypso coral at full strength. The flowers are stamped on scraps of very vanilla and cut out.  They are raised with dimensionals to pop off the card!  Of course I then had to enhance the flowers with a few pearls.  And my cards are complete! Perfect for a wedding card or Thinking of You card. So which card do you like best??  Leave me a message. Enjoy your day! signature line-003

Whitewashed Watercolor Technique

  100_9717e

Don’t you just love the look of the whitewashed watercolor?  I think this is my new favorite technique.   The look of watercolored flowers with the contrast of a non-white card stock  is just stunning.   I will be teaching this technique at my August Technique Class on Thursday August 29th at 7pm.

In this class, you will learn how to do this technique and receive an instruction card with complete instructions to do this technique in the future.  You will be provided with all the supplies to make 3 cards with envelopes.

You just need to bring a “class kit” which includes your adhesive of choice and some scissors.

The cost of the class is $17.  You can pre-register here for the class.

Here are a couple of other cards that we will be making in the class.
100_9714e   I hope to see you on the 29th!           signature line-003

You can signup for Paper Pumpkin here.   100_9362 After 4 months of Paper Pumpkin, these are the supplies that I have left.  Each kit includes an ink spot and a couple of stamps, precut card stock and embellishments that you need for that month’s project.  A perfect way for a new stampers to build up some supplies without have to have everything to get started!   Here are a couple of the projects from the past few months! 100_9360   This is the Jots & Thoughts notebook which you receive as a thank you gift when you signup.  You also receive an acrylic block which you will use for future projects.       100_9361       This was the project for March.  4 cards with envelopes with all of the supplies.  As you can see, I changed the samples around a little and made them my own by moving elements around.   100_9358   This set of Seriously cards was the project for April.  I love these cards!  Again – I changed the placement of the embellishments around a bit to make each card a little different.   100_9357         The project for May was this very cute little journal.  There were more than enough supplies to put the journal together and add embellishments. These projects are more basic and probably not for the experienced stamper.  But you may know someone that might be interested?  Forward this onto them! more Chalk Talk Ideas

Morning, Well I have been going through all the swaps that I received from convention and wanted to share a couple of my favorites with you!  Chalk Talk has become one of my favorite sets.  It is funny because when I first looked through the new catalog, Chalk Talk was not high on my list of new sets that I just had to have… But then I played around with it and now really love it!  It is a very versatile set that plays well with any of the designer papers and color schemes!  Here are a couple of swaps that I received that I really like and show the versatility of the set! 100_9727e   This first card was designed by one of my long time Stampin’ Friends, Jeannette Swain.   She and I have been a member of the Sensational SU Swappers group for many years.  That is my favorite group of SU ladies.  They are each so talented! This card is made with the Mosaic Madness designer paper.  The card base is Island Indigo with a layer of Baked Brown Sugar (one of the new in-colors).  She also uses the new Deco Labels Framelits to make the Center piece. Each layer is attached with dimensionals to add depth to the card.  She finished the card off with some Island Indigo baker’s twine and 4 little pearl jewels in the corner of the frame lit.  Great Card Jeannette! 100_9728e This next card was designed by Kristie Bare whom I don’t personally know.  I do love this card and the details that she added to it!  This is truly a WOW card! The card base is basic black cardstock with a layer of Coastal Cabana and a 3rd layer of whisper white.  The white has been embossed with the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder.  The stamped image has been stamped with black Staz-on and cut out with the Chalk Talk framelits.  This was layered onto another piece of basic black card stock.  Kristie used the Coastal Cabana marker and outlined some of the elements of the stamped image so they Pop!.  She punched a flower with coastal cabana cardstock and also embossed this with the perfect polka dot embossing folder.  She used several punches to make a layered piece for the center of the flower.  The 7/8″ scallop circle punch, the 1/2″ circle punch, the flower from the itty bitty punch pack and a small circle.  She used black taffeta ribbon with a scrap of coastal cabana card stock under the stamped image.  And last but not least, she used dazzling details to highlight the center of the flower and the two small flowers on the Chalk Talk image as well as 3 small circles on the bottom right of the card.  Simply Stunning!!   100_9729e   The third Chalk Talk card that I received was from Connie Thompson, another demonstrator that I don’t know personally. I really like the contrast of this card. The card base is basic black with a layer of whisper white.  She added a piece of strawberry slush designer paper and a piece of strawberry slush ribbon.  I love the black and white combination cards with one color thrown in! The Chalk Talk image is stamped with black ink on white cardstock and layered onto a piece of black cardstock to make it Pop.  She added a couple of Pearl Jewels to the side of the stamped image for a little additional detail.  She stamped the “For You” in strawberry slush and layered this onto a circle of black cardstock.  She attached this to the card with dimensionals to add depth!  Great Job!!   Tomorrow with the new catalog, I will showcase in my newsletter a beautiful card that I received using the new Holiday designer paper and snowflake stamp set.   To see this card, you can signup for my newsletter here.   Also – you won’t want to miss my annual weekly Holiday newsletter – the 12 Weeks of Christmas.  This weekly Holiday newsletter showcases a different Holiday idea each week for the 12 weeks before Christmas!   I hope that everyone is enjoying this great weather that we are having!  Finally the humidity has broken here!  I think I will go to the beach this afternoon! signature line-003

Stampin’ Up! Convention Review – Wow Swaps

Ok – I had the best intentions to post as much as possible during convention and just ran out of time.  How do other demos do it?   Convention is such a great experience and such a whirlwind of ideas and time.  There is just not enough time to do everything!  I did upload as much as I could to my Facebook page since I had my IPhone. Anyway – So I would like to post a couple of my favorite swaps that I received. I participated in a 75 card WOW swap.  This was my card for that swap. 100_9469 copy I used the new Magnificent Maple stamp from the upcoming Holiday catalog.  I stamped the leaf with gold ink on cardstock vellum and then embossed it with gold embossing powder.   I then cut the leaf out and attached it to a 2 1/2″ square of birch bark paper that is part of the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit.    I love the new decorative burlap ribbon that is in the Holiday catalog.  All of these new items can be found on pg. 18 of the new Holiday catalog.  Have you received yours yet?  If not, let me know and I will send you one! The card base is a piece of crumb cake cardstock that I cut the long way 4 1/4 x 11.  I cut off 3/4 of an inch along the bottom and used the scallop border trim punch to make a decorative bottom.  Then I used a strip of the new Sweater Weather designer paper along the bottom.  The second layer is a piece of chocolate chip card stock that I embossed with the woodgrain folder. 100_9468closeupTo bring out the look of the woodgrain, I used  just a little white ink on a brayer and brayered very lightly over the embossed image.  Then I finished the card with some linen thread and a wooden button!  I do really love this card! I can’t wait to make the Thankful Tablescape simply created Kit for my thanksgiving table this year!   One of the advantages of going to convention is touring Stampin’ Up!’s headquarters and distribution center!  I have had that privelage before but was able to share it with a couple of first time downline members.  It is like seeing Disney through the eyes of a little kid on their first trip! 100_9546   This picture is the area where Stampin’ Up! sets up the displays that they use for the catalog photography.  This is the scene that was used to photo the table scene in the upcoming Holiday catalog for Thanksgiving dinner!  this uses the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit.  You can see that in this display they used the birch bark to wrap a candle base on the table.   100_9509             These next two pictures show the distribution center for all of the orders that we all place!!  It was fun to watch orders being filled and meet some of the people that keep our businesses running!   100_9508               Stay tuned for more pictures over the next couple of days! signature line-003

Technostamper Challenge 269

Well things are starting to slow down a little for me, if that can ever happen with my life!  LOL.  My son is off to his new adventures in Colorado starting his new job this week.  We will miss him but am so excited that he gets to start this new chapter in life! So I am down on Cape Cod for the summer (minus a couple of trips back to Tewksbury here and there).  But that doesn’t mean that I  am taking the summer off!  I am soooooo looking forward to going to convention with my stampin’ friends in 3 weeks!  Which means that I better get working on swaps! Today I jumped back into Mary Jo’s blog and the Technostamper challenge. TSSC269 100_9405 copy         I used the new designer paper Gingham Garden and the Flower Shop stamp set with the coordinating punch! I love the bright colors of this paper and the great patterns.  Rather than using a ribbon across the middle of the designer paper, I used some of the new washi tape that coordinates with the paper. The background flowers are stamped in daffodil ink.  the main flower is stamped with melon mambo ink and popped out with dimensionals.  Of course I had to add a little something to the center of the flower, so added a rhinestone pearl.  I wish I had the large pearls with me, but alas I don’t.  I can’t bring everything to my temporary stampin’ studio! The Hello Sweet Friend is from the new Six Sided Sampler Set and I used the hexagon punch to punch out the image. Stay tuned, my next Card Kit is going to be using the Flower Shop stamp set with the coordinating punch! This week’s order code is ZTX476TP.  Enter this code at the bottom of the order screen in the hostess code section! Enjoy your day! signature line-red

Another Chalk Talk sample

Here is another 100_9370 card that I made with the Chalk Talk stamp set.  Don’t forget that this stamp set and the framelits can be bundled together for a discount!! The cardstock on this card is Wisteria Wonder and Pool Party with a layer of the AFternoon Picnic designer paper.  I do love this combination of subtle colors!   The tag is stamped with White Craft ink and embossed with white embossing powder.  I then stamped the tag again using wisteria wonder ink on whisper white card stock and cut out just the center tag. This tag is cut out with the framelits dies and layered onto a piece of Wisteria Wonder chevron ribbon. I added a few pearl jewels to the corners to add a little bling to the card. Enjoy! signature line-red

Chalk Talk Stamp Set

Good Morning! 100_9372 Today I am posting a card that I made with some of the new stamp sets and designer paper from the new catalog!   I love the combination of colors in this card.   This card is made with the Afternoon Picnic designer paper.   The cardstock is Pool Party for the base, with a layer of Wisteria Wonder.  THe tag in the center is So Saffron (my stand-by yellow).   I stamped the tag in Wisteria Wonder ink and cut it out with the Chalk Talk framelits.  The There’s You is stamped in coastal cabana (one of the new in-colors) and punched out with the large oval punch.  Don’t forget that the Chalk Talk stamp set and framelits are a bundled set and there is a discount for ordering the two together (pg. 12).  This is a great versatile set with greetings for any occasion.  Just pair it up with your desired designer paper. Then the corners looked a little bare to me, so I embellished them with the pearl jewels.  You can color the pearls with a sharpie marker – so I made them to  match the so saffron cardstock and added a regular pearl to the center of the Wisteria Wonder tag.  All of this is layered on a piece of the new So Saffron Chevron ribbon! 100_9372_closeup signature line-red   Enjoy this beautiful day!!   Interested in placing an order?  I have an open order that I will be closing tomorrow June 16th.  The hostess code is UCAPRQQP.  Enter this number on the order screen and your order will go into the queue immediately and ship directly to you.  No more waiting for my orders to close and then to ship!!

Modern Medley Card

My box of new toys came today!  My first order from the new catalog. I used the Friendship Preserves Stamp set with the Modern Medley Designer paper.  This Designer paper is black and vanilla. I stamped the Hello from Friendship preserves in white ink and embossed it with white embossing powder.  I do wish that we still had satin ribbon.  This card needs a more formal ribbons so I used a piece of the black satin ribbon which I think really adds a nice detail to this card!   100_9368To achieve the “Framed” look, I cut the vanilla background layer a little smaller than the typical second layer on a card.  The vanilla is 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″.   The inside black layer is 3 3/8″ x  4 5/8″ so a 1/2″ layer.   I think this paper is very elegant!   Enjoy!   Marilyn

Father’s Day Card

This week challenge for the Late Night Stamper’s group is a Father’s Day card.  I actually didn’t design this card but it is one of my favorites!!  This card was designed by my downline and friend Michele LaCerda.  Michele is in my downline but is actually the person that taught me to stamp!!  She took me to my first SU party and then I just had sign up!!  I wanted everything and my husband said that I had to find a way to pay for my addiction!  LOL  Then after I joined SU, she decided to signup.  This July is actually her 10th anniversary as a demo!! Anyway – here is the card… 100_9171 copy The card base is going gray with the watch image from the Dapper Dad set stamped to create the background effect.  I love the way she used the bottle cap for the face of the watch.  The face of the watch is stamped in black and mounted onto the bottle cap.  Crystal effects is applied over the stamped image to give it the look of glass. A piece of metallic silver cards tock is embossed for the background. This is my favorite card for Father’s Day that I have seen so far. Great job Michele!  I will have to toot her horn since she doesn’t have a blog!   Enjoy!   signature line-red
