Over the next couple of days I am going to share a few cards that I made with Field Flowers stamp set. Even though this is not a new set – I found myself playing with it yesterday!!
Before we get started with the cards, I thought that I would share a pic of my summer office. As many of you know, I spend a good bit of my summer in Dennis on Cape Cod. I know it is a difficult life but someone has to manage the teenage children!
Today and yesterday have been perfect days. The humidity has finally broken and the temps are in the 70’s. Not too hot, not too cold. So I have moved my computer outside for today. It is very pleasant. I can hear the waves and the kids playing on the beach (also the parking lot, but I am choosing to block that out LOL).
Ok on to some card shares!! Yesterday I decided to play around with one of my favorite sets Field Flowers. I saw a card on Ann Schach’s site that I absolutely loved so changed it up a little for what I needed. Also – I wanted to use one of the new designer papers that I hadn’t opened yet…
So I used the Designer paper Etcetera which has the colors Calypso Coral, Old Olive, Pool Party and Very vanilla. I am really liking the Vintage look to this paper. One of my customer asked for a Vintage class – I think this might be the designer paper to use!
So the details of these cards:
1. the Card base is very vanilla with a layer of calypso coral cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″.
2. I liked the look of the old olive and pool party design as a background piece but then couldn’t decide which coordinating piece I liked better for the side.
3. On the first card – I used a strip of the calypso coral pattern, making sure that I lined up the victorian pattern in the middle of my strip. I love the look that these two papers together created and the way the seam of the two papers fell with the stripe in the coral paper. It looks as if the paper is torn!
But then I also like the Vintage look of the vintage newspaper piece. So I tried a 1 1/4″ strip of this piece with the background. I liked the two together but didn’t like the seam where the two pieces meet. So I added a piece of trim that I made using the scallop trim border punch.
4. The flowers and stems are stamped on a 2″ x 3 1/2″ piece of very vanilla card stock layered onto a piece of Old Olive cardstock. The stems are stamped using old olive ink.
5. The flowers are stamped on a scrap of very vanilla card stock with calypso coral ink. This is a two part stamp – so I stamped the background piece first and stamped off on a scrap paper to make the coral a shade lighter. Then for the detail of the flower, I used the second detail stamp and stamped with calypso coral at full strength.
The flowers are stamped on scraps of very vanilla and cut out. They are raised with dimensionals to pop off the card! Of course I then had to enhance the flowers with a few pearls. And my cards are complete!
Perfect for a wedding card or Thinking of You card.
