Masculine Card & Catalog update

On Monday Stampin’ Up! hosted a New Catalog Premiere at 40 theaters around the US and Canada.  SU staff was in Long Beach, CA  and made a live presentation on the new catalog which was broadcast around the county to the 40 theaters.   So there were approximately 200 demonstrators that gathered in Marlboro, MA to get a sneak peak of the new catalog and see some demonstrations of new products!DSCN0213 copy

So when demos gather together the favorite thing to do is swap!   I designed a masculine card as Father’s Day is coming up!

The Designer Paper is High Tide Designer paper from the Occasions catalog.

The stamp set is High Tide and Teeney Tiny wishes for the Father’s Day greeting.

The shell is stamped using crumb cake ink on whisper white and punched out with the  1 3/8″ punch.  I used a blender pen and little pink piroDSCN0210 copyuette ink to highlight the contours of the shell.

The fish is stamped with marina mist and highlighted with a little pear pizazz. The seahorse is stamped with crumb cake also.

The card stocks are Calypso coral and soft sky layered onto pieces of designer paper from the High Tide Collection.

I wasn’t too sure if I liked the combination of the bold stripes of the high tide paper under the stamped images – so I also tried the card using Crisp Cantaloupe stretchy ribbon in place of the bold stripe.

In my opinion, the ribbon takes away from the masculine look of the card.  But still a nice enhancement!  Which do you like better??

So now the good stuff – Here is a picture of the new catalog which is fantastic!!

As you can tell by the cover there are lots of new embellishments which are my favorite!!

the two biggest additions to the new Catalog are:

1.  The partnership with Becky Higgins and the introduction of Project Life products!  Stampin’ Up! has developed several sets of Project Life journaling cards that coordinate with Stampin’ Up! colors and Becky Higgin’s line of products!

2.  Blendabilities are here!!  I just pre-ordered mine this morning and can’t wait to try them out! These are alcohol based markers that are used for coloring and deliver a much brighter color that the regular Stampin’ Write markers.

3.  The heavy Baker’s Twine that was introduced during Sale-a-bration is back in the in-color family!  There are several new frame lit sets and embossing folders.  And of course – lots of great new stamp sets!!

Stay tuned for samples with items from my pre-order!  You will be able to place your order for new things on June 2nd.

Have a great weekend!
