Handmade Sympathy Card

Today I have a beautiful Handmade Sympathy card made with the new Stampin’ Up! Stamp set Sheltering Tree using a Window card layout.  This is my new favorite stamp set from the occasions spring catalog!

Details on this card:  the card base is a piece of soft suede cut to 4 1/2″ x 5 1/2″.  The top layer is a piee of whisper white cut to 4″ x 10 1/2″ and scored at 5 1/4″.  The card is attached to the soft suede card base.

Next is a 1 3/4″ x 4″ piece of Something Borrowed Designer paper layered along the bottom of the card.  I added a piece of the new Sahara Sand Lace Trim over the top of the designer paper. What is different about this card is the actual card image is stamped on the inside of the card and a window is punched using the 1 3/4″ circle punch on the front of the card to show just a piece of the stamped image.

So  – on the inside, the Tree from Sheltering Tree is stamped with Chocolate Chip ink.  The leaves are stamped with blushing bride ink.

The sentiment below the tree is from the Petite Pairs stamp set and is stamped with soft suede ink.  To add just a bit more detail to the tree – I stamped a cardinal from the White Christmas stamp set, colored it with a red marker and added to one of the tree branches.

Finally on the outside of the card I stamped the sentiment “Thinking of You” which is included in the Sheltering Tree Stamp set using soft suede ink.  The outline for the window is made by punch a scrap of blushing bride cardstock with the 1 3/4″ circle punch.  Then line up the circle in the middle of the 2 3/8″ scallop circle punch.  Layer this around the window that you punched on the front of the card.

So I am thinking that I may play around with some embellishments on this card.  What would you add to it?
