Well this has been quite the week for us Stampin’ UP! Demonstrators that live in New England. Thursday is the start of Leadership in Orlando FL which is always a great time! Getting together with other Demonstrators from around the country, sharing ideas, swaps, learning new techniques and business ideas…
So here is the saga of our Long and Crazy road to get to Florida this week! One of those adventures that we will laugh about in the future!
So the plan has been that Jeanne, Angela and I would travel together. We are 3 of the 5 designers in the Stampin’ New England Design Team and always have a great time together. So Angela found some flights out of Hartford that were less expensive than those out of Boston or Manchester NH. So we all agreed that we would fly out of Hartford, CT on Wednesday the 28th. Then the weather changes and a MegaStorm is predicted to travel up the East Coast and bury New England in Snow on Tuesday the 27th.. The storm is expected to start Monday night and go thru Wednesday in the Boston area, but ending on Tues. in CT. So this means that flights will be cancelled out of Boston and we won’t be able to get to Hartford.
So Jeanne and I start talking about getting in the car and driving to Hartford before the storm to wait it out there. Then we don’t need to worry about driving from the Boston area to Hartford after the storm stops. So we pack up my car:
the plan is that we will wait out the storm and have Tuesday to finish up our projects for the infamous swaps! So we booked a hotel in Hartford across the street from the airport. We had a great time working on our projects together.
Of course we had to bring along a little food too. You can’t stamp without nourishment.
We made a bit of a mess at the hotel… But had a great time and finished up lots of swaps!
On Tuesday afternoon the snow stopped in Hartford while it was still snowing in Massachusetts… Also Hartford didn’t get nearly as much snow as MA. Then Tuesday afternoon we get the message that our flight on Wed. morning is cancelled. So we scramble and spend a few hours on the phone trying to figure out what to do. We finally are booked on a flight for Wednesday morning out of LaGuardia in NYC. So now we need to figure out how to get from Hartford to NYC…
Fortunately my daughter (the Best Daughter in the World) is going to college in Fairfield at Sacred Heart University. So we drove down to Fairfield. She took us into the city and dropped us at LaGuardia.
We landed in Orlando on Wednesday evening. Met our friend Angela and had a drink and dinner to celebrate our crazy trip to Orlando!
