Balloon Celebrations

Today I have a card share using the new Stampin’ Up! Balloon Celebration stamp set with the Party Pop-up thinlits!  I love these thinlits to make a really cool pop-up feature to your card!  And don’t forget to order the Balloon Celebration stamp set bundle so you have the punch to punch out the balloons that you have stamped!

If you have read my blog before – you know that I love sketches.  This card is inspired by this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge.

So the details of this card:
This card is a 5″ square card so uses a 5″ x 10″ piece of whisper white cardstock which is scored at 5″ and folded in half to make the card base.

Next is a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock cut to 4 7/8″ x 4 7/8″.  Then a piece of the It’s My Party Designer paper cut to 4 3/4″ x 4 3/4″.

The 3 banners in the background are made with strips of It’s My Party designer paper cut to 1 1/4″x 4″ and 2 pieces of other patterns of the designer paper cut to 1 1/4″ x 5″.  Each banner is layered onto a piece of coordinating camsc feb-curdstocks cut from Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry and Mint Macaron.  Next is a piece of designer paper with the balloons cut to 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ and layered onto a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock that is 2 5/8″ x 4 5/8″.

Next the fun part! Stamping the balloons.  I used Melon Mambo ink to stamp the balloons on a scrap of Melon Mambo cardstock and Crushed Curry ink to stamp the curry balloon on a scrap of Crushed Curry cardstock.  The balloons are punched out with the balloon punch.  Next is a piece of Crushed curry baker’s twine tied to each balloon.  Then I stamped Happy Birthday with Melon Mambo ink, cut the piece into a banner shape and layered this onto a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock.  The balloons and Happy Birthday banner were attached to the card with dimensionals to make them pop!  To finish off the front of the card I added 3msc feb-inside of the It’s my party enamel dots.

And finally – my favorite part of this card – the Pop-up die in the middle of the card!  I cut a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock to 4 3/4″ x 9 1/2″ scored at 4 3/4″ and folded in half for the center of the card.  When you look at the thinlit, you will notice an arrow at the bottom of the cake plate.  Line up the arrow with the center fold of the Melon Mambo cardstock.  There is another arrow in between the candles.  Once you have this lined up, cut on your Big shot machine.

Voila!  Fold the Melon Mambo piece and your Birthday Cake will POP!  Attach this to the center of your card and stamp your sentiment on the bottom.  I added a piece of the It’s My Party Washi tape to each side of the melon mambo edge.   That’s it!
