Today I am sharing a set of beautiful Handmade Christmas Boxes that one of my team members made for our Bag it, Box it and Tag it December Classes! You too can make handmade Christmas Boxes for your Holiday packages. I love the Stamping New England Design Team! Each month, 4 of us design 3 projects with the same Designer Paper and stamp sets so we have 12 very different projects each month!.
These really cute little boxes are made using the Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper and are perfect for packing cute little stocking gifts!
So to make a handmade Christmas box. Decide what you want the finished size of the box to be. For example: if you want a 4″ x 6″ box that is 1″ deep, then you would:
1. Add the Width plus the depth for 2 sides together. So 4″ + 1″ + 1″ = 6″
2. Do the same for the Length of the box –
6″ + 1″ + 1″= 8″
3. This means that you would cut a box bottom that is 6″ x 8″ and a second piece the same size for the top.
4. Score each of the four sides of the top box piece at 1″. Cut up the score line on the long side to the intersection of the score lines. Fold along all score lines. Where you cut will make a tab to put the box together. Add adhesive (I use tear & tape) to the flaps and attach to the inside of the other flaps. This will make your box top.
Repeat this step for the box bottom. However, when you score the sides, score just over 1″ – at 1 1/16th on each side. This will make the bottom a hair smaller so the top fits over the bottom of the box.
In this example a piece of the Stampin’ Up! Candy Cane Lane Designer paper was used to make the box top and a coordinating solid color of cardstock to make the bottoms.
