Today I am sharing two cards that were made from the same stamp set and Designer paper using one sketch to make two different cards.
My Stamping friend Jeannie and I were working on ideas for a Christmas in July class using the new Stampin’ Up! Be Merry Designer Series Paper and the Santa’s Sleigh stamp set.
We picked a random sketch from a stack of MojoMonday sketches that I keep around for inspiration. And as you can see our two cards are very different!
Need inspiration?? I love sketches! I chose a sketch that has an element that matches the stamp set that I want to use. In this case Santa’s Sleigh. Then we selected the Be Merry Designer paper which coordinates with Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green cardstocks and inks. Did you know that Stampin’ Up! prints the colors for each designer paper on the back of the package?? I love that. So when I am designing using a specific paper, I just pull a couple of pieces of each color of cardstock and pick out those inks. Then it is time to design!
So the Reindeer card is made with a Cherry Cobbler Base, a layer of Whisper White and then a layer of the cute little reindeer pattern from the Be Merry designer series paper.
The second card uses Garden Green cardstock as the base with a layer of Chocolate Chip cardstock and the small triangle pattern in Garden Green that looks like trees. I have found that if you are working with green shades, brown can be a really good color to use as a layer to set off the pattern of the designer series paper. For this card, the design is flipped to be landscape to accommodate the sleigh and the tree. The Sleigh is cut from Red Glimmer paper to add a little bling to the card. After all, what is a card without bling?
