Today I am sharing a couple of cards that I made a couple of weeks ago with a customer using the Stampin’ Up! Beautiful You stamp set. She was new to card making and didn’t know where to begin.
My favorite way to start a new card is to choose a set of Designer Series Paper and pull out the coordinating colors of Cardstock (Stampin’ Up! conveniently has these listed on the back of the DSP packages).
Next I have a folder of sketches that I use for reference. I choose a sketch that has a focal point that would work with the stamp set that I am using. So we chose this sketch from the Mojo Monday collection of sketches. We used the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper and the colors, Soft Sky and Blushing Bride Cardstock. For the first card we used the Seaside Embossing folder on a piece of Whisper White cardstock for the background layer. The lady from the beautiful you stamp set was stamped on a piece of the DSP and cut out and layered over the image stamped on the oval.
We started with the same sketch on the second card but found that when we cut two squares to fit behind our focal image, you couldn’t see the pattern of the striped DSP. So we left off the second square and only used one for this card. The Soft Sky Cardstock on this card is embossed with the Falling Softly embossing folder.
These are the supplies that I used for these two cards.
