Springtime Foil Fancy Fold Card

Springtime Foil Designer Series PaperToday I am sharing a beautiful Fancy Fold Card that I made with the Stampin’ Up! Springtime Foil Designer Series paper.   This Designer Series paper is by far my favorite of all the DSPs that I have seen in a while!  It is a thick glossy white cardstock with Silver, Gold and Copper embossed images..  It is simply gorgeous!

I saw this Fancy Fold technique on Pinterest and had to figure it out!  I love Fancy Fold techniques!  So I will see if I can explain it!  For cards like this – I always make a template.  I recommend using two different colors of Cardstock to make your template as it helps you to remember how the pieces fit together!

NOTE:  These pictures are from my template.  I used Pool Party as the base for this card and whisper white for the inside portion of the card.
1.  Card Base:  5 1/2″ x 11″ piece of cardstock,  scored at 5 1/2″.   cut a 3/4″ window on the front side of the card.  Line up your paper trimmer at 3/4″.  Move your cutting blade to 3/4″ on the top clear ruler of the cutter.  Cut up to 4 3/4″.  Rotate your piece and make the next cut.  Cut each side to make a window.  When you are finished you will have a 4″ square.  Save this square.  You will use it later on.

2.  Cut a coordinating piece of cardstock to 7 1/2″ x 5 1/4″, score at 2 1/2″ and 5″ (I used whisper white for my 2nd piece on my template).  Fold in a Z pattern.  Attach the back of the 2nd piece to the back of the base.  With the Z fold – the two pieces together will form a square in the center.

3.  Attach the 4″ square that you cut when you cut out the window to the front part of the Z fold.  I trimmed 1/8″ off two sides so the piece will fold smoothly thru the window of the card base.  I then added a 3 1/2″ square of whisper white as a layer.

4.  Cut two tabs to 3/4″ x 5 1/4″.  Score each at 2 1/2″.  Line up the score line on the tab with the line where the white piece lines up with the Pool Party piece.  Attach the tabs (cut from Pool Party) to the back side of the inside piece, white piece, and attach to the inside of the window frame.  Do the same on the bottom.   NOTE:  I added a small piece of white over the tab on the back of the white piece to make the tab less noticeable.

That’s it!  So here are pictures of my finished project with the Springtime Foil DSP.  I do love this DSP – did I mention that already?  The flowers on the front are fussy cut from the Copper Foil design and colored with the Blends markers.  The square on this card is a 4″ square of Gold Foil that I have embossed with the Layered Leaves embossing folder.   I stamped “wedding wishes” from the Rose Wonder stamp set with versamark and embossed with Silver embossing powder.

The inside piece for my Springtime Foil card is the embossed leaves.  I stamped 3 of the small flowers from the Rose Wonder stamp set on a piece of Glossy White cardstock, embossed them and cut them out with the coordinating thinlits.  I added a message also from the Rose Wonder stamp set to the back layer of the card.

So I hope you have liked my project today.  I am planning on recording a video for this technique.

So the important point for this week – is this the last week of Sale-a-bration!  So don’t miss out!
