This past Monday night I decided that I wanted to show how to Build a Turkey from stamping elements. So I played around with a couple of my stamp sets and came up with the following Cards.
Card 1 – Gather Together Stamp Set
Over the years I have seen a lot of Turkey cards made with various leaf sets. So for the first card I used the Stampin’ Up! Gather Together stamp set.
The Designer paper is Gilded Autumn which is my favorite Fall Paper this year!
The turkey body is made from a 1 1/2″ circle punch and a 1″ Circle punch for the head. I used a chalk marker to draw the eyes since I could not find my stash of Googlie eyes!
The Turkey feathers are the leaves cut from Crumb Cake CS, Cherry Cobbler CS and Mango Melody CS. The leaves are feathered out and attached to the Turkey’s body.
As I was putting together this card, I was thinking about what else to try for making the Turkey feathers. I realized that the SunFlower from the SunFlower Celebrations stamp set would make a perfect spray of feathers for the turkey.
Card 2 – Sunflower Celebrations
One of the Sunflower dies cuts an outline of the sunflower petals. I used this die to cut sunflowers from Cherry Cobbler CS, Crushed Curry CS and Pumpkin Pie cardstock. Each flower was cut in half and glued to a piece of Very vanilla cardstock.
Next I fussy cut out the dies and colored the “feather” with the coordinating Blends markers. I then layered the feathers behind a 2″ circle punch for the body.
The sentiment “Happy Thanksgiving” was cut using the Well Said dies. What a great die set for making headings and sentiments for scrapbook pages and sentiments.
I hope you have enjoyed my cards today!
Have a great Thanksgiving!!
