I love the new Simply Succulents Bundle and made this gorgeous Ombre Simply Succulents card a few days ago. The Ombre background paper is part of the Oh So Ombre Designer Series paper that is available during Sale-a-bration this year!
I have to admit that I was in a design funk last week, so I pulled out this beautiful Tulip card that I made last year and used this layout! And then this card was sent to a friend having a special birthday this past week!
Going back to my Ombre Simply Succulent Card.
The card base is a piece of Granny Apple Green Cardstock cut to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″. Next is a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of the Granny Apple Green Oh So Ombre Sale-a-bration DSP.
The next layer is a 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ piece of White Cardstock that is cut out with the background die that is part of the Simply Succulent Dies. Once the piece was cut, I trimmed the piece to fit over the Granny Apple Green Ombre Designer paper. I love the look of the Ombre DSP behind the die cut!
The background die with in the Simply Succulents Bundle is beautiful. It cuts a very nice detailed background layer that looks laser cut.
Next I used the Stitched Rectangle dies to cut out a frame from White cardstock. This was attached to the center of the card front with the dimensional Foam Adhesive Strips.
The stamps in this bundle includes a stamp for a bundle of succulent plants and then 2 other separate plants. There are dies to cut other succulent plants for the background.
I stamped the large bundle of succulent plants and one of each of the small plants. The plants were colored with the following Stampin’ Blends markers:
- Granny Apple Green Blends
- Highland Heather Blends
- Old Olive Blends
- Just Jade Blends
- Pretty Peacock Blends
The Clay pot was colored with Calypso Coral Blends
Next the dies were used to cut out the succulent images and 2 background succulents from Old Olive cardstock. The pot and plants are attached to the card with dimensionals.
To color the succulents, I looked up plants on the internet and matched the colors to my Stampin’ Up! Blends markers. Many succulent plants are a mix of green and purple shades. So I outlined the edge of the succulent with the light Highland Heather Marker and used the light Just Jade Marker to fill in the leaf. One of the really cool things about succulents is the various shades of greens, blue greens and purples and how they blend together.
Below are the supplies that I used to make this card.
