Today I am sharing some cards that my friend Rose made while playing with Darling Donkeys stamp set! This is one of the Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration stamp sets that is retiring on Monday.
I loved the color combination with the Stampin’ Up! Flower & Field Designer paper and the Darling Donkey Stamp set. This card uses Cherry Cobbler, Rococo Rose and Basic Black Card stocks which coordinate with the Flower & Field Designer paper.
One of the things that I love about Rose’s cards is she always finishes the insides too!! And her designs are always OVER THE TOP!!
In fact I loved this card so much, I used it for inspiration for a Donkey Gate Fold Card! I borrowed the idea of the Flower & Fields DSP with the Cherry Cobbler and Rococo Rose combination of the Cardstocks.
A Gate fold card opens in the middle. This particular card has a cut out in the middle for the Darling Donkey stamp to show through.
To make a Gate Fold Card, start with a card base of 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of cardstock. Score this at 2 1/8″ from each side and fold the flaps into the middle to meet.
Cut a piece of coordinating Cardstock to 4″ x 5 1/4″ with the desired pattern from the Designer paper to 3 3/4″ x 5″. Attach the 2 layers together and attach the layer to one side of the card.
Choose a fun Die Cut that you want to use to make the shape. The Stitched Rectangle dies are great for this. This picture is from a Hydrangea card where I used the Layering Square dies.
Open the card and place the center of the die on the center of the inside flap. Use a piece of Washi tape or a sticky not to hold your die in place. Run this through your die cut machine.
Cut the DSP along the edge of the cardstock. Attach the other half of the DSP to the other side of the card.
Use the cut out on the DSP to line up your die on the 2nd side of the card front. Make sure the card is open so you are only cutting through the 2nd side and not the whole card.
That’s it! You have made the cut out for your Gate Fold Card!! Now it is time to decorate!!
This is how I decorated the inside of my Darling Donkey Card.
I used a 1″ strip of another pattern from the Flowers & Field DSP across the back of the card. I used the same die to cut a different piece of DSP so the Donkey doesn’t get lost on the front of the card. The Donkey is the focal point of my card.
I stamped my messages on small die cut labels and used a small flower punch to make flowers from scrap pieces of Cardstock. I added the flowers randomly on the inside and outside of the card. I embellished the flowers with rhinestone jewels.
I hope you liked my cards that I posted today!! Today is Friday and Sale-a-bration ends on Sunday night. So only 3 days left!
Here are the items that I used to make these cards.
