We will all be saying Goodbye Geared Up Garage soon which is a great stamp set for the Gear Heads in our lives! This is a card that I made for my Daughter’s Boyfriend’s Birthday who is a Gear Head!
Jake recently purchased a new gray VW coupe with red racing stripes! A very pretty ride for a twenty-something man. So I know the car in this stamped image from the Geared Up Garage Stamp set is really a Charger but was trying to make it look like Jake’s car!
Card Details
The card Base is an 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Real Red Cardstock scored at 4 1/4″ and folded in half. Next is a piece of Basic Gray Cardstock cut to 5 1/4″ x 4″ and then a piece of Whisper white cut to 5″ x 3 3/4″. I cut the gears out of Smokey Slate and Basic Black cardstock.
The car image is stamped with Tuxedo Black Momento ink and colored with Smokey Slate Blends Markers. I used a Real Red marker to draw the red stripes on the card.
I layered a piece of Real Red Designer paper cut to 2″ x 4″ and a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock cut to 1 1/2″ x 3 3/4″ on pieces of Basic Black cardstock. These are layered these on the front center of the card. I also cut a 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ piece of Basic Gray Cardstock layered onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock. This piece runs across the real red and daffodil delight pieces.
The Car is attached to the top of the decorative layers using dimensonals to make it pop! I used the gears to highlight the car. The sentiment “All Geared up to celebrate” is stamped with white craft ink on a scrap of Basic Black cardstock and embossed with White embossing powder.
I added a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of white cardstock to the inside of the card for the message. I stamped “Happy Birthday” and added another cutout of some gears.
I used a couple of the geared elements on the front of the card that I had left over from 2 years ago when this set came out! Elements are a great way to add a bit of dimension to your cards and to highlight your images.
Jake was very surprised and excited by this card. I don’t think he realized what is made in Marilyn’s Creative Playground!
