Velvet Poinsettia Cards.

Today I am sharing 2 Velvet Poinsettia Cards that I made using the Snowy White and Red Velvet cardstock from Stampin’ Up! I used the Poinsettia Petals stamp set which allows you to cut out layers of petals to make your poinsettia flowers 3D.

Here is a picture of the Poinsettia card made with the Real Red Velvet. The card background is Basic White Cardstock cut to 8 12″ x 5 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″. Next is another layer of Basic White cut to 4″ x 5 1/4“. This layer is embossed with the Snowflake Embossing Folder which is part of the 3D Wintry pack of Embossing folders.

Next is a layer of Basic White that is cut using the Scalloped Coutours dies. Below this layer is a 1/2″ x 4″ piece of Black Glimmer paper and a 1/2″ x 4″ piece of the Black Buffalo Check from the Pattern Party designer paper pack. This is a Host set of designer paper in the annual catalog.

What I love about the petal dies in the Poinsettia Place stamp set is that these dies cut and emboss in one pass! Just use a piece of washi tape to hold the embossing piece of the petal together with the cutting layer. And you have a Petal Layer in one pass through your die cutting machine!

The leaves are cut from Old Olive Cardstock. The center of the flower is cut from a scrap of Gold Foil. The center of the flower is a Gilded Gem. Matte Black Dots were used below the flower to add a little bling! Along the left side of the card is Real Red Braided Linen Trim wrapped around the card layer and tied in a bow.

Below is the Card that I made using the Snowy White Velvet cardstock.

For this card I used the same layers as the Red Card. The difference is I used the beautiful Gold Shimmer Ribbon from the Fall Aug to Dec mini catalog.

…and I didn’t add leaves to this card. Instead I used 2 sets of the small poinsettia flowers. The center of the large poinsettia is cut from a scrap of gold foil. I used a Gilded Gem in the center of each of the poinsettias.

You can also lightly color the white velvet leaves using a very lite touch with a marker. I did use a Wink of Stella pen to add some glimmer to these leaves.

Here is a list of the supplies that I used for these cards.
