I love the Boughs of Holly Stamp set and have discovered this really cool technique to make a Textured Background for cards using the outline dies included in the set.
I used Basic White CS with the detail leaf die to cut out the detailed leaves. These were glued to a 4 1/2″ x 3 1/4″ piece of Basic White CS and used as the background for the focal image of the card. I love the look of texture that you can achieve with this technique.
Measurements for this Card:
Cut the Card base to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Real Red CS scored at 4 1/4″. Cut a piece of the Boughs of Holly DSP to 5 1/4″ x 4″. Attach to the card base.
Cut a piece of Basic White CS to 4 1/2″ x 3 1/4″. Use the detail leaf dies in the Boughs of Holly die set to cut out detailed leaves. Use fine tip glue pen to attach the leaves onto the basic white CS. Trim the overhang of the leaves around the edgeof the Basic white piece. Attach to a piece of Real Red CS cut to 4 5/8″ x 3 3/8″.
Cut a detailed leaf from a piece of Balmy Blue CS and Soft Sea Foam CS. Attach to the top left corner of the card. Use Garden Green ink to stamp pine branches from the Merriest Moments stamp set. Cut out with the corresponding dies. Cut out 2 pieces of pine boughs from scraps of Shaded spruce CS. Attach these pieces with glue dots to the top of the card.
Stamp 2 poinsettia petals with Real Red ink using the Merriest Moments set. Cut out with dies and attach to the top of the leaves. Add Silver pearls from the Festive Pearls embellishments.
This is a second card that I made. For this card I used a Blending Brush and Garden Green Ink to add color to the leaves before I used them on the card base.
