Handmade Shower Invitation

handmade Shower invitaitonToday I am sharing a handmade Shower Invitation that my friend and I designed for her daughter’s shower.

I used the new Serene Garden Stamp set from the new Stampin’ Up! catalog.  I love the look of this set.  It is definitely very serene.  This set would be perfect for thank you cards, thinking of you and sympathy cards.  So pretty.

This set comes in a bundle with matching framelit dies.  But it also has a die that embosses the main floral image.

The invitations are 5 x 7.  The base is a piece of the new Blueberry Bushel cardstock cut to 5 x 7″.  I was playing around with the width of the mat for this card and also the portrait versus landscape layouts.  The card on the right with the portrait layout has a piece of Whisper White cardstock is cut to 4 3/4″ x 6 3/4″.   The image is stamped on the lower left corner with Basic Gray ink.  For the landscape invitation I cut the Whisper White cardstock to 4 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ for a wider mat on the base.

I used the Old Olive Blends marker to color the leaves on these cards.  I really like the shading effects that you can get with the Stampin’ Blends markers.  For the flowers I used the Blueberry Bushel ink with an aqua painter since this color isn’t available in the Stampin’ Blends markers yet.

So of course I had to try out the new embossing die.  So I made a card using some of the new purple colors;  Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape.  NOTE:  you do need an embossing mat for your Big Shot.  Check out the Embossing mats in the new catalog on page 221.

For the this card, the base is Gorgeous Grape cardstock cut to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4.  The next layer is 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Highland Heather cardstock.

The next layer is a 2″ x 3 1/2″ piece of Whisper White cardstock with a mat of Gorgeous Grape cut to 2 1/8″ x 3 5/8″.

For this card, I used an aqua painter and did a wash across the white cardstock for the sky.  I stamped the corner leaf image in the two bottom corners.  Next I stamped the leaf with single flower image and the larger flower above.  I then stamped the two flowers again with the butterfly on scrap cardstock and cut them out with the framelit dies.  I colored these image with Highland Heather ink and an aqua painter.   The leaves are colored with the Old Olive Blends Markers.

Then I attached the flower over the image with mini dimensionals.  You can’t tell by the pictures, but I also used a Wink of Stella pen on the larger flower so that it stands out and shimmers which it does!

I can tell that the Serene Garden stamp set is going to become one of my go to stamp sets with this catalog!

Here are the supplies that I used for these items today:

How to use a Sketch to make Cards

Today I havewatermelon floral-w a group of cards that I made using the new Stampin’ Up! Birthday Blooms stamp set and the Birthday Bouquet Designer paper.

So the story behind this card; one of my friends brought over a picture of a card that she found on Pinterest.  She asked me how to coordinate cardstock to make a similar card.  So I drew out this sketch and figured out the dimensions.  Then I decided that I needed to play with this sketch and made a few different variations using a couple of different designer papers and stamp sets.

One of the things that I love about Stampin’ Up! is that a package of Designer paper has 12 designs made with colors that all coordinate.  So it is very easy to design a card and mix and match the colors.

Two of these cards are made with the Birthday Bouquet designer paper.  If you look on the back of each set of designer paper the colors that are in the designer paper are listed.  So the first card, I used whisper white for the background, Calypso coral to layer the designer paper and mint macaroon to layer the polka dot background.

So here is the sketch and the dimensions for the pieces of the card starting from the bottom up:Sketch-001
  1. the background Designer paper is 4″ x 5 1/8″ and layered on a piece of Calypso Coral that is cut to 4 1/8″ x 5 1/4″
  2. the next layer is a piece of mint macaroon polka dot paper cut to 3 1/8″ x 3 7/8″ layered onto a piece of mint macaroon cut to 3 1/4″ x 4″
  3. Next is a banner cut to 2″ x 4″ layered on a piece of Calypso Coral that is 2 1/8″ x 4 1/8.
  4. The last layer is a piece of the flowered pattern cut to 2 1/2″ x 1 5/8″.  I used the corner rounder on this piece and layered it onto a piece of Calypso Coral Cardstock that has been cut to 2 5/8″ x 1 3/4″ with the corner also rounded.
After assembling thblue close upe layers, I used a piece of the Watermelon Wonder lace to tie around all the layers.  This is then attached to a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Whisper White cardstock scored at 4 1/4″ to form the card base.   I used the new Wink of Stella Glitter Brush (141897) from the Occasions catalog to add glitter to the flowers.  It is very hard to see the glitter on the pictures but it beautiful!

Here are two other cards made with the same sketch:

Birthday Blooms blue w bloomin love-wThe card with the blue flower is made with the same Birthday Bouquet designer paper and Birthday Blooms stamp set but with Lost Lagoon color for the layers and the mint macaroon lace ribbon.

The third card is made with the Love Blossoms designer paper and layered using Rose Red cardstock.  The stamp set is the Sale-a-bration set What I love.

Weekly Specials & Update on Blendabilities

Good Morning,

Blendabilities Markers
This is one of those good news/bad news deals.  My favorite point about being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator is that they are committed to providing only the highest quality products to their/our customers.

As you have probably heard or experienced, there has been a lot of issues with the Blendabilities markers over the past few months.  Stampin’ Up! has been working very closely with the manufacturer of these markers in testing and working through the issues.  However, the manufacturer has determined that there is a manufacturing problem that has caused microscopic pin holes in the case of the markers which is causing them to dry up quickly.  So Stampin’ Up! has decided to discontinue purchase of the Blendabilities Markers at this time.  In fact, they have sent all inventory that they had in stock back to the manufacturer. So… if you have placed a recent order here is the process.

  1. You recently ordered Blendabilties Markers and they were backordered.  Stampin’ Up will automatically refund your money for the product within the next month.  You do not have to do anything.
  2. You selected Blendablities Markers as a Sale-a-bration item or part of Hostess Rewards.  Contact me with your order number and replacement Sale-a-bration item.  I will process the change for you.
  3. You purchased and received Blendabilities markers that are defective.  Contact me with your order number and date of the order.  I do not have an answer yet on how Stampin’ Up! will handle this situation.

And now – onto the weekly specials!

I have setup a hostess code for the month of March.
Use the code; APCMU2AZ on orders under $150 and receive a FREE gift from me in addition to your Sale-a-bration items!
You can ORDER from my site here.

Happy Stamping!

Handmade card for a Challenge

A little bit of Magic
Today I have a handmade card that was inspired by two challenges that I saw last week.  The colors I used are inspired by a challenge on colourQ and the SUO Challenge for this week is to make a Teen focused card.
So I used the colors, Coastal Cabana, Wisteria Wonder, Crisp Cantaloupe and Pear Pizazz card stocks which are the current equivalents to the colors listed on the colourQ challenge.  As soon as I saw this challenge, I thought of the retired stamp set A Little bit of Magic which I have always loved and fits in with the SUO Challenge theme of a card for a Teen.

Here are the details for this card:
The card base is made from an 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Coastal Cabana scored at 4 1/4″ . I then added a piece of Pool Party cardstock cut to 4 1/8″x5 3/8″ with a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut to 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″.  This piece of white cardstock has been embossed with the new Spring Flowers Textured Impressions Folder in Occasions catalog.
Behind the Fairy image is a 1 1/4″ strip of striped Coastal Cabana designer paper from the Best Year Ever Designer series paper in the Sale-a-bration catalog.  I added this piece of designer paper on an angle to highlight the stamped image.  The Fairy image is stamped on a 3″ square of Whisper White cardstock with Momento Black ink.  I used the Blendabilities Markers to color in the image.  More specifically – Wild Wasabi Blendabilities were used to color in the grass.  The mushroom was colored with the Neutral tone Blendabilities markers.  The Fairy’s wings were colored with the Coastal Cabana Blendabilities and the Fairie’s dresses were colored with the Wisteria Wonder Blendabilities markers.  This image is layered onto a 3 1/8″ square of wisteria wonder cardstock.  the small Fairy is cutout and attached to the top corner of the card with dimensionals.  I added a piece of crisp cantaloupe thick bakers twine to  add the touch of crisp cantaloupe to the card.

Of course I have to add a little bling.  It certainly would not be a Teen card without bling.  I used a touch of Dazzling Details to paint the wings of the Fairies.

is a great time to stock up on the Blendabilities markers.  For every $50 in product that you purchase, you can choose a free set of Blendabilities markers!

Handmade Thinking of You Card

Today I have a handmade Thinking of You card handmade Iris cardthat I made using a retired Stampin’ Up! Stamp set Kindness Is.  This is one of those stamps that I will never sell.  I am a gardener and love all things floral and love purples.

So my favorite new Designer paper from the Spring Occasions catalog is the Painted Petals Designer paper which has beautiful floral scenes.

This card was inspired by the Mojo Monday sketch for this week.

The Details for this Card:

Cardstock:  Wisteria Wonder cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″ for the card base.  Next is a piece of Painted Petals Designer paper cut to 4″x 2 1/2″ and layered onto a piece of Elegant Eggplant that is 4 1/8″ x 2 3/8″.  The edge of the designer paper is embellished with a 4″ piece of elegant eggplant that has been punched with the lace border punch.

The next layer is a 3″ x 4 3/4″ piece of the Wasabi stripped designer paper layered onto a piece of Wild Wasabi cardstock cut to 3 1/8″ x 4 7/8″.  The Iris is stamped onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut to 2″ x 4″ with Momento Ink.  I then stamped the Iris a second time onto a scrap of whisper white cardstock with Moment100_0486cuo ink and colored the Iris with the Blendabilities Markers.  I used the Old Olive and Wisteria Wonder Blendabilties Markers to color the Iris.  Carefully cut out the Iris that is stamped and colored and layer onto the first piece with dimensionals.  The Iris is layered onto a piece of Elegant Eggplant that is cut to 2 1/8″ x 4 1/8″.

Last but not least, I added a little sparkle to the veins of the Iris with Dazzling Details.

That’s it!  Easy Peasy!
