Balloon Birthday Day Card

Today I am sharing a really cool Pop-up Box card with a Birthday Card theme that I made for a friend’s 80th Birthday.  I know this card has a 50 on it since this is now my sample card.
birthday pop-up-w_edited-1So the theme for the Stamping New England Design Team cards in February is Birthdays.  And this week the theme for the Global Design Team challenge is balloons.  So here we are!  My first entry for the Global Design Project!

So the Details on this card.

The base of the card is Basic Black cardstock cut to 5 1/2″ x 11″.   I made a little cheat sheet of how to cut and score card stock for the base of this really cool card.   Score down the middle the long way at 3″.  Then score at 2 5/8″, 5 1/4″, 7 7/8″ and 10 1/2″.   Cut up each score line on the 2 1/2″ side to the score line in the center of the piece.

popup box cardThen fold and cut out the 2 1/2″ x 1/2″ piece.  Use a piece of Tear & Tape strip on the small tab that is left.  Fold into a box.  Fold down the flap on each side.

Next I layered each side of the box.  I used the It’s Your Party designer paper stack layered onto Crushed Curry cardstock for the sides.  I choose the white confetti pattern for the back piece so I could stamp the message “Look who’s turning” from the Number of Years stamp set with Black Momento ink.  The dimensions for these layers are:  Crushed Curry 2 1/2″ x 2 3/8″ and the Designer paper is 2 3/8″ x 2 1/4″.

Next punch out balloons from pieces of crushed curry and basic black cardstock using the new Balloon Bouquet punch from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalog.  I also punched out a few balloons from Gold Glimmer paper and Gold Foil for a little extra bling!  Next were a few stars punched out using the Star punch.  Then stamp the desired number of years using the new Stampin’ Up! stamp set Number of Years and cut out with the matching framelit dies.  Don’t you love when Stampin’ Up! designs dies to cut out stamped images?

To attach the balloons and numbers to the center of the box, cut 2 pieces at 3/4″ x 3 5/8″ and score 1/2″ from each end to make cross bars for the box.   Fold each piece in a Z fold.  Add a little piece of Tear & Tape strip to the end of each Z.  These then fit into the Box attaching each piece to the side of the box to make two cross bars.  Next cut little stems from scraps of cardstock.  I took a 3″ scrap of cardstock and cut very narrow 1/8″ pieces to make the stems which I used to attach the balloons, stars and numbers to these little crossbars.

I have recorded a video of this project.  Check it out HERE.

Handmade Christmas boxes

Box Punch Board
Today I have some handmade boxes to share with you that are made with the Stampin’ Up! Gift Box Punch Board.  These are perfect for packing up those Holiday gifts that we have all been purchasing!

These are sample boxes that me and my Stamping friends from the Stamping New England design team designed for our December Box it, Bag it, Tag it Theme.

The Stampin’ Up! Gift Box Board is perfect for creating boxes using carDSC_6445-3-2wd stock or heavy Designer paper.  For these boxes, the Under the Tree Designer Paper which is a little heavier than normal designer paper was used.   The Cherry colored box on the bottom left was made using a piece of 12″ x 12″ Cherry Cobbler Card stock.  The small box with the Merry Christmas and gold ribbon was made with a 6″ x 6″ piece of card stock.

Stampin' Up! Gift Box Punch Board
The Gift Box Punch Board has directions printed on the board and is very easy to use.  The dimensions for various boxes are also printed on the board.  Here are a few more examples:

The Punch board makes more than just square boxes.   This medium sized box on the left was made with the Under the Tree Designer paper.  A window was cut into the side using the Windows Collection Framelits and then a piece of Clear Window ShStampin' Up! Gift Box Punch Boardeet added.   The box was decorated with a piece of Gold Baker’s Twine and a note tag added cut from a piece of vellum using the Tag punch.  The snowflakes are from the Snowflake Card Thinlits die cut from Gold Glimmer paper.

Love these ideas?? Check out the Box it Class projects here.  There are step by step instructions for using the Gift Box Punch Board and several very cute projects.  These are the types of projects that my Stamper’s Club members receive each month for FREE with a $35 a month purchase!  Or you can purchase these instructions now for $6.95.

Flashback Friday Thanksgiving Punch Card

This Thanksgiving 101_0004_edited-1 card made with punches is an oldie but goodie that I found buried in my card stash.  I pulled this card out yesterday took it to the Senior Center at the Billerica Sr. Center.  They loved it!! The hat is a 1 1/4″ square punch with the word window punch for the brim.  The turkey’s head is the 1″ circle punch and the body is the 1 3/4″ circle punch. The feathers are made with the medium scallop circle big shot die.  Cut a chocolate chip scallop circle, a pumpkin pie scallop circle and a really rust scallop circle.  I used a full really rust scallop circle as the base for the feathers.  The pumpkin pie scallop is cut to form the top section of feathers and adhered to the really rust scallop circle.  The chocolate chip scallop circle is also trimmed to make the bottom section of feathers.   The turkey’s feet and nose are sections of the scallop circle punch with pumpkin pie card stock.  The turkey’s “gobble” is a piece of a really rust scallop circle. A white marker and brown Stampin’ Write marker was used to outline the edges of the pieces to look like stitching. This card brought back great memories of card classes with elementary school kids that I taught about 10 years ago…  All those kids have grown up and are in High School.  What a great handmade Thanksgiving card! Enjoy your weekend! signature line-003
