Handmade Holiday card

Today’s handmade Holiday card is made using some of the new products from the Stampin’ up! Holiday catalog.  And this card is actually made without stamps!! Handmade Holiday card The Trees are actually cut using the tree die from the Snowflake Card Thinlits Dies.  I was playing around with the this die and realized that there was a tree template included. The inspiration for this card layout comes from this week’s technostamper challenge. Here are the details for this card:   Cardstocks:
  • Trim the Tree Designer Paper Stack
  • Whisper White Cardstock
  • Cherry Cobbler
  • Pistashio Pudding Cardstock
  • Garden Green Cardstock
I used a piece of the winter cherrHandmade Christmas Cardy pattern from the Trim the Tree Designer paper stack for the card background.  The ribbon is a piece of white cotton ribbon.  Next the pistachio pudding layer is 4 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ and embossed with the Northern Frost Embossing folder.   The embossed snowflakes are brushed with the white craft ink pad to highlight them.  These are layered onto a piece of 4 3/8″ x 2 5/8″ piece of garden green cardstock. The trees are cut using the Tree die from the Snowlakes Card Thinlits.  I choose 3 different patterns of green designs from the Trim the Tree Designer Paper stack.  These are layered on the card with dimensionals to give the card depth.DSCN0448w And of course every card needs some bling!  So I punched out a star from the gold glitter paper using the star punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.  I then randomly added Rhinestone jewels to the trees to look like ornaments. Enjoy and have a great weekend! signature line-003

Halloween Sneak Peak

Today I have a handmade Halloween card that I made with the new Halloween Designer Paper from the upcoming Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog.  There are some great patterns in this Designer paper  – not all Halloween based but some great for Fall too. Here are the details for the card: Hall-w This card was inspired by Mary Jo’s sketch challenge at Technostamper.com.   Loving the new Holiday catalog! signature line-003

Another Sneak Peak – White Christmas

My new favorite set from the Holiday catalog is White Christmas.  And once again Stamping Up! has designed a new Designer Paper for the Holidays with a blue tint..  I love this new paper, All is Calm and thought that last year’s blue hughed paper was my favorite!  So for my card and the details below… photo 3-2w Cardstocks:
  • Soft Sky card base
  • Whisper White
  • All is Calm Designer Series Paper
The focus of the card is a 2 1/2″ square piece of soft sky cardstock stamped with the trees from the White Christmas stamp set in White craft ink and embossed with White embossing powder.  The soft sky piece is layered on a piece of whisper white cardstock and then on a piece of DSP. The Ribbon behind the image is Lost Lagoon highlighted with a scrap of whisper white that is scalloped with the scallop trim border punch.   photo 5_treecu   The  Cardinals and snowman are stamped using Black Stazon ink and colored with our Stampin’ Write markers.     photo 3 snowmancuI used the 1 1/4″ scallop circle punch to punch out the snowman.  The banner is made using a 3/4″ x 4″ piece of the DSP.   I love the way the colors coordinate in this Designer paper.  The colors are Soft Sky, Lost Lagoon, Pear Pizazz, Smokey Slate and whisper white.  There are two patterned sheets with silver hightlights in the package too. I have lots of ideas for this paper! Enjoy! signature line-003

Sneak Peak at Holiday Card

Today I have a card made with the new Wonderous Wreath stamp set from the upcoming Holiday catalog. So the details on this card: Cardstocks:
  • Marina Mist for the card base cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
  • Whisper White for the window frame
  • Trim the Tree Designer Paper Stack for the area behind the window frame
  • Gold Foil for the Joy
I embossed the card base the woodgrain embossing folder and then lightly rubbed my white craft pad over the raised woodgrain design.  I set that aside to let it dry.  The window frame is cut from whisper white cardstock.photo The wreath is a 3 part stamp which I love!!  Very easy to get a great color assortment without having to use markers and color in a stamp.  The larger portion of the wreath is stamped using Pear Pizzaz ink.  The less dense piece of the wreath is stamped with old olive to add darker leaves.  The berries are stamped with Real Red.  The Bow is also stamped with Real Red. This set also has matching framelits which I love!!  I cut the Joy out using Gold Foil and added that on top of the wreath! I also made a Card with the White Christmas stamp set which I will post tomorrow!   signature line-003

Shadowed Festive Flurry Card

Here is a Festive Flurry card that I made using the versa mark pad to create a shadowed effect.  I love the look of this technique and the shadowed effect.  What a great technique to show off the delicacy of the snowflakes.

The details:

You will need a versa mark pad or illuminate pad and a white Staz-on pad.

Stamp the large snowflake with the versa mark or illuminate pad.  Ink up the large snowflake and stamp again lining up as close as possible to the first image.  NOTE:  you don’t want it to be exact…  Slightly off creates the shadowed effect!  Set aside to dry.

Stamp the small snowflake in Pool Party ink and the medium snowflake in smoky slate ink.

Cut out with the festive flurry framelits.

Use dimensionals to add depth to the snowflake.  Add rhinestone jewels to the tips of the snowflakes and a Festive Flurry embellishment to the center of the snowflake.

Attach to center of card.

The message is stamped on a scrap of vellum card stock.  Since vellum is translucent, you can see the snail or tape through the vellum.

So, my tip for Vellum:  Create an element or use an embellishment to hide the area where you tape the vellum.  I stamped the small snowflake in pool party and cut out the center start.  I attached this to the card over the side of the vellum to hide the tape.

Have a great weekend!

Christmas Cards

These are the last of the cards from my weekend retreat with my Stampion’ Team!  I love this cute 100_9937 card was designed by Laura Perriera!  This cute little elf is so sweet The elf’s legs are made with the Season of Style Designer paper.  The feet are made by cutting a top note die from Cherry cobbler card stock.   The bows on the elf shoes are two butterflies punched from gum ball green card stock.  The butterflies are cut apart and layered to look like bows.  The bows are made from the silver taffeta ribbon.   And to finish it off, the bells are punched from silver glimmer paper using the small scallop punch. 100_9930 copy This last card was designed by Deanna Czarniecki who is one of the most creative people that I know!!  This card is designed around the Festive Flurries stamp set and matching framelits. The card base is smokey slate.  This card is a gate fold card so is scored at 2 1/8″ from each end of the card base.  She layered a piece of whisper white card stock on the inside of the card and stamped the small snowflake in coastal cabana ink. Deanna stamped the small snowflake with coastal cabana ink and the medium snowflake with smokey slate ink.  She then cut these out with the framelits and also cut out a large snowflake from coastal cabana and the medium snowflake from smokey slate card stock.    She added texture to these snowflakes with the  polka dot embossing folder. 100_9941 copyTo layer the snowflakes, start with the large snowflake in coastal cabana and attach to the right half of the card.  NOTE:  Don’t add adhesive to the whole snowflake.  Just the side you are attaching to   the card!  Then layer the snowflakes stamped in smokey slate on top of the large snowflake.  Next on the left side start with the smokey slate snowflake and layer the coastal cabana stamped snowflake to the top. Deanna added a pearl jewel to the center of her top snowflake.  I used one of the frosted flurry embellishments. Simply Beautiful!!   signature line-003

More Cards – Thanksgiving

Here are a couple of more cards from my weekend retreat!  The first is a quick and easy Thinking of you card and the second would be a great Thanksgiving card. 100_9933 copy The first card is made with Papillon Potpourri stamp set.  What a great thinking of you card!  This card was designed by my friend Dawn Burke.  She used the square lattice embossing folder to add a little dimension to the gumball green background. 100_9936 copy         This next card was designed by me.  I used the Truly Grateful stamp set with the woodgrain embossing folder.  I used soft suede ink with a sponge to add a little color to the wood grain background.  the second layer is stamped with pool party and the background stamp that is part of the Truly Grateful stamp set. Next is a piece of Sweater Weather designer paper cut using the labels frame lit die.  This piece and the pool party background piece are sponged along the edge with soft suede ink for a little dimension. I stamped the Wheat with cajun craze and tied a piece of linen thread around the wheat.  I then stamped the piece of wood and the chestnut with soft suede ink and cut those out.  The banner is stamped with the Gorgeous Grunge set and sponged with the soft suede ink.  Gorgeous grunge is a  great set to create backgrounds. The last post will be tomorrow with the last couple of cards! Want to participate in our spring retreat??  Join my team!!  We do a Girls weekend twice a year to the cape and have a great time!!  We all learn something new – even us old dogs that have been stamping for 12 years!!   signature line-003

3D Christmas Tree

This 3D Christmas Tree made with Stampin’ Up!’s designer paper and Dazzling Details glitter is absolutely beautiful in person.  I have had so many compliments on this tree over the past two years since my friend Karyn created it!

The Story behind this Tree.  2 years ago the Simply Scored Scoring Tool came out and my friend Karyn immediately purchased one.  And she went to town.  The next week, when I saw her, she had created this beautiful tree!  Then last year – Stampin’ Up! introduced the Rosette Die for the Big Shot.  The die made this project much easier and quicker!!

So this year – after many requests I am offering the directions for this 3D Tree with full detailed directions and a technique video.

There is a small and large version of the tree.  It is made by cutting strips of designer paper and using the Rosette Sizzix die to score the strips.  You then accordion fold the strips and make lollies for the layers of the tree.

I am also offering this Tree in Kit form with a   full set of directions with pre-cut and scored designer paper with a bottle of dazzling details for embellishment.  Everything has been pre-cut and scored for you so all you need is a glue gun to assemble the tree.

Option 1 – Full Instructions with Technique Video

Option 2 – Pre-cut Designer paper with Instructions and Video

Pre-cut 3D Tree
There are a couple of options for designer papers…  This is what I have prepped: Winter Frost – Blue/Silver blue-silver               Victorian – Red/Green victorian-red-green         Red/Green red-green

These trees are a lot of fun to make!
