Stampin’ Up! Convention Review – Wow Swaps

Ok – I had the best intentions to post as much as possible during convention and just ran out of time.  How do other demos do it?   Convention is such a great experience and such a whirlwind of ideas and time.  There is just not enough time to do everything!  I did upload as much as I could to my Facebook page since I had my IPhone. Anyway – So I would like to post a couple of my favorite swaps that I received. I participated in a 75 card WOW swap.  This was my card for that swap. 100_9469 copy I used the new Magnificent Maple stamp from the upcoming Holiday catalog.  I stamped the leaf with gold ink on cardstock vellum and then embossed it with gold embossing powder.   I then cut the leaf out and attached it to a 2 1/2″ square of birch bark paper that is part of the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit.    I love the new decorative burlap ribbon that is in the Holiday catalog.  All of these new items can be found on pg. 18 of the new Holiday catalog.  Have you received yours yet?  If not, let me know and I will send you one! The card base is a piece of crumb cake cardstock that I cut the long way 4 1/4 x 11.  I cut off 3/4 of an inch along the bottom and used the scallop border trim punch to make a decorative bottom.  Then I used a strip of the new Sweater Weather designer paper along the bottom.  The second layer is a piece of chocolate chip card stock that I embossed with the woodgrain folder. 100_9468closeupTo bring out the look of the woodgrain, I used  just a little white ink on a brayer and brayered very lightly over the embossed image.  Then I finished the card with some linen thread and a wooden button!  I do really love this card! I can’t wait to make the Thankful Tablescape simply created Kit for my thanksgiving table this year!   One of the advantages of going to convention is touring Stampin’ Up!’s headquarters and distribution center!  I have had that privelage before but was able to share it with a couple of first time downline members.  It is like seeing Disney through the eyes of a little kid on their first trip! 100_9546   This picture is the area where Stampin’ Up! sets up the displays that they use for the catalog photography.  This is the scene that was used to photo the table scene in the upcoming Holiday catalog for Thanksgiving dinner!  this uses the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit.  You can see that in this display they used the birch bark to wrap a candle base on the table.   100_9509             These next two pictures show the distribution center for all of the orders that we all place!!  It was fun to watch orders being filled and meet some of the people that keep our businesses running!   100_9508               Stay tuned for more pictures over the next couple of days! signature line-003
