Star of Light Handmade Card

Today I am sharing a handmade Christmas card that I made using the Stampin’ Up! Star of Light Stamp set and coordinating thinlits.  star-of-light-2wThis card was inspired by the week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge.

So the details on this card:

The card base is a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″.  Next is a layer of Soft Sky cardstock cut to 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″.

The panel on the right is a 3 1/8″ x 3 3/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock layered on a piece of Dazzling Details Glimmer paper.

The background of this panel is a Watercolor technique on Whisper White cardstock using re-inkers and an aqua painter. Place 2 drops of Island Indigo re-inker and about 10 drops of water in the top of star-of-light2-cua button container.  Stir it up with an aqua painter and brush across the cardstock.  NOTE:  practice on a scrap of white paper first to get the level of shading that you want.  Then I repeated the process with soft sky re-inker.  Then set this piece aside to dry.

The Panel on the left is a  1 1/2″ piece of  Fancy Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper which has been lightly brayered with Soft Sky ink.  This is also layered onto a piece of Dazzling Details Glimmer paper.  I added a piece of Blushing Bride and Silver Glitter ribbon.

the Snowflakes are cut from Dazzling Details Glimmer paper and Blushing Bride Glimmer paper cut with the detailed Starlitght thinlits dies.  These are layered on my watercolored panel that has been stamped with Blushing Bride  using the swirl stamp.  The small star is a stamped with versamark and embossed with Silver Embossing powder on a scrap of whisper white.

It is hard to tell, but I used the Wink of Stella Clear Brush to add dazzle to the blushing bride swirl.  The snowflakes are attached with glue dots.  and of course the center of the snowflakes have been embellished with Rhinestone Jewels.
