Today I am sharing one of my favorite Card Layouts with you, a Butterfly Stair Step Card! I absolutely love this new gorgeous Butterfly Brilliance Stamp set with the Butterfly Bijou Designer paper! The Stair Step card layout is the perfect way to showcase this beautiful Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper.
This set has some gorgeous butterflies that you can stamp and color yourself. Or you can cut butterflies from the Beautiful Butterfly Bijou Designer Paper. For this card, I used the butterflies that are cut from the Butterfly Bijou Designer paper!
I used a piece of Soft Seafoam Cardstock for the card base. The background layers on this card are cut from one 6 x 6 sheet of the Butterfly Bijou designer paper. Download my tutorial for directions on making a Stair Step Card with my tips on cutting the Designer paper to line up across the card.
Tips for Coloring the Butterflies in the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle
This Butterfly card shows each of the ways that you can use the butterfly stamps and dies that are part of the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle. The bundle includes 2 sets of dies for each of 6 butterfly types. The first die cuts out the body of the butterfly and a set of Detailed dies cut the details of the butterfly lines.
The stamped and colored butterfly on the bottom is colored using a Water Brush and my Stampin’ Up! ink pads. The large Monarch butterfly on the top left is an example of coloring the butterfly and adding a detailed black layer cut from the detailed butterfly dies.
Marilyn’s Tips for Coloring Stamped Images
There are a couple of different mediums available for coloring these beautiful Butterflies!
If you are planning to color with Watercolor Pencils or a Water brush and your water based ink pads, then use the Jet Black Staz-on ink pad to stamp your butterfly images. Note: this ink can take a few minutes to dry. So, you can use a heat gun to set the ink.
If you are planning to use Stampin’ Blends (alcohol markers) then use the Momento Tuxedo Black ink pad to stamp the butterflies. Momento ink is designed to be used with Alcohol based markers so it will run if you use Momento ink with the water based markers or a water brush and ink.
